Oh so woeful a man, Might he only take my hand

Item #: SCP-7613

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-7613 should be contained with SCP-7613-U at all times unless explicit permission has been given by a member of the ethics committee. When SCP-7613 is stored in an alternate manner, it can be treated as a 'safe' class object. In neither state may any staff member physically touch SCP-7613 without previous permission from a level 3 or above researcher.

When contained with SCP-7613-U, SCP-7613 must be stored in a standard humanoid containment chamber. The chamber door must be heavily reinforced, able to resist at least 50 000 Newtons of direct force. The surface should be hardened and able to resist kinetic penetrators, equating to at least 60mm of face hardened steel. No part of the containment cell should be unable to withstand such forces for at least 2 minutes. Should SCP-7613-U or SCP-7613 attempt to breach containment, the chamber must immediately be filled with a paralysing agent.

Description: SCP-7613 is a pseudo-parasite that can only inhabit inanimate metal objects. The host object is henceforth referred to as SCP-7613-H. SCP-7613 may independently manifest for a few minutes. When formed, SCP-7613 manifests as a black mass in a roughly oval shape, ~0.9 meters wide, and ~1.9 meters tall. This form manifests only when the previous host object has been destroyed and no new host object has been found or designated by Scp-7613's 'user'.

SCP-7613 will bond with the first person to contact its current vessel, provided a number of conditions are met. This person will become Scp-7613-U, also referred to as its 'user'. For bonding to occur, all previous users of Scp-7613 must be deceased, further, a potential user must be male. SCP-7613-U controls whether SCP-7613 is allowed outside of the object it currently inhabits, as SCP-7613 cannot independently leave its host object. To release SCP-7613, it must simply be in contact with the host object, or a metal object touching the host object1. SCP-7613-U has no control outside of this over SCP-7613, however, this is sufficient to reliably coerce SCP-7613.

SCP-7613 can be controlled through its time spent within SCP-7613-H. SCP-7613 appears to suffer extreme alternating psychological distress and pain when within SCP-7613-H, akin to a hyper-realistic nightmare. All information about this, and the nature of SCP-7613 as a personality has only been attained via SCP-7613-U-(1). Instances of SCP-7613-U seem to use the threat of SCP-7613-H as a means of coercing SCP-7613. Communication with SCP-7613 can in our current knowledge only be achieved by SCP-7613-U, when SCP-7613-U is in physical contact with SCP-7613-H.

When not trapped in SCP-7613-H SCP-7613 manifests primarily as an unpleasant aura perceived by all subjects in the immediate vicinity. SCP-7613-U is apparently immune to this effect. This incentivises instances of SCP-7613-U to keep SCP-7613 inside of its host object when around others, and SCP-7613-U-(1) frequently kept SCP-7613 contained during interviews out of 'Courtesy'. Outside of this aura SCP-7613 has a number of powers when released. SCP-7613 can release a black substance which can be corporeal, non-corporeal, or semi-permeable to various degrees. This substance can move at considerable speed and with impressive force, as well as form simple constructs including spikes, blades, and shields. These manifest from the host object. Scp-7613 also has the capacity to permanently and temporarily raise the dead, with more time and effort corresponding to a more complete resurrection, with resurrected entities varying from weak semi-animate corpses with no higher thought to complex planning entities which retain some of the deceased's memories, some even capable of limited regeneration. SCP-7613 does not seem capable of genuine resurrection, and a corpse is not capable of regenerating to a state more intact than when it was reanimated.
