Well, I guess I can start anytime the recording is live. Welcome! This is uh… this is Audio Log… which one is it again… Audio Log one hundred and eight. And, it just happens to be the most important one yet. I finally found a Remnant.
A bit of context first would probably be useful. My name is BlueBlazer, but you can call me Blue. My user isn't important right now, but my story might be. As most of you know (but many still do not, hence the following explanation), about 2 years ago the OASIS was reacquired by the legendary Gunter Wade Watts. As a result, everyone gave up the ghost, so to speak. The Gunt was over. But a good few of us didn't believe it to be entirely true. A good potion of the remaining Gunters believe in the Remnants.
Okay, hold on, hold on. I know the people who talk about this are considered nutters, and I understand why. But hold on for the story of your lifetime because perhaps this information might change your opinion on the situation.
Remnants are a set of miniquests, hidden away for players to find during the main Gunt, if someone was so attentive. Most players write this off, but non can discount the first and only Remnant to be found *during* the hunt: the Quarter. This was an object so powerful that only one use was granted: A free extra life if your avatar were to die. Most people know it as the saving grace in the final battle against the now reincorporated IOI. But some of us believe there is more. Halliday wrote about a lot of things in his journals, and a lot of them are untouched in the first section of the Gunt. I think he hid some things that are yet to be discovered. I think he hid more Remnants.
But what exactly did I find, you might ask? Well, the answer is a little complicated, but I think I can start at the day I found planet Keter.
It was the day after I had gotten the max on the scoreboard. Anyone remaining a Gunter after the Gunt had long since officially ended considered this the new rite of passage. Even if most of the work was in the solving of the clues, it still took skill and dedication to complete. It's a wonder Watts left the doors to the final gate open for people to do this.
An explosion rocked the van.
"Oh shit!"
A second explosion hits, this time against the automatic shielding system that engaged after the first impact.
"Engage jump drive, now Hoff."
"Yes sir, Blue."
