Containment Breach-Site-12

A small novel based on the SCP foundation.
Written by Researcher Murphy

Introduction

A 21-year-old researcher sits in his chair, sipping a styrofoam cup of coffee from the site-293's cafeteria. Site-12 was a research site located deep in a forest in Alaska; it specialized in biological oddities, of which mankind hopefully never sees. Site-12 consisted of just a few SCPs and a large complex of offices. Today, the researcher, only known as "James", sat in his office, sipping a particularly good cup of coffee, contained in the aforementioned styrofoam cup. He bent down to turn on the terminal on the desk in front of him. The monitor flickered to life, as it displayed the foundation logo. While he was waiting for the terminal to load, a knock came from his door, behind the glass of the door, you could see a tall figure appearing to wear the iconic foundation lab coat. He stood from his chair;
as he opened the door, the figure pushed it open, knocking James down on the,
luckily, soft carpet lining the floor of his office. The figure had a black, bushy beard,
and large glasses, he had never seen the figure before. His nametag said "Dr. Oliver"
below an image of him, where he appeared to be smiling; he wasn't smiling now,
though, his face sported a look of worry, his brown eyes darting across the room.
"Oh, I'm sorry". He helps James up. "I'm sorry about that, my name is Dr. Oliver, or at least that's all your classified to know. "Nice to meet you. James shook hands with Dr. Oliver.
"I was sent over here by the site director, he needs to see you in his office". Dr. Oliver said, with a shivering voice. "What are you so nervous about?' James said,
questioning his jumpy attitude. "My wife is in the hospital, I can't go see her until my shift
is over" Dr. Oliver answered with a sorrowful look on his face. "I'm so sorry to hear that"
James replied, with the same sorrow in his voice. "Anyways, I have to carry on, it was nice to meet, James. Dr. Oliver walks out of the room, James closed the door behind the doctor. He returned to his desk to see the terminal had loaded; James switched it off.
James opened a drawer, inside was his level-3 key card, his car keys, and a deck of playing cards; James grabbed all but the playing cards and proceeded out his office door.
The hallway was crowded with researchers from the flooded west wing after a water pipe exploded. Most of them were unable to work because their offices were flooded.
