Item#: SCP-5975
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: The object is to be kept in a cardboard box in the employee lounge area at sub-level 3. The box must be labelled “SCP-5975”. The lounge is restricted to level 2 or higher and personnel and the box cannot be transported to another area unless with proper reasoning.
Description: SCP-5975 is a wooden bowl made out of acacia wood. It is 9cm in diameter and 6cm tall and appears to have nothing abnormal about it.
The object is able to convert the closest inorganic material around it into soup. When researchers recovered it they discovered that when items are placed around the bowl and when one person speaks their preferred soup the bowl will convert the items into said soup.
It takes approximately 30 minutes to convert the material into the soup. The items around it will progressively shrink to nothing until 30 minutes run out. A grey liquid will start appearing and rise from the bottom of the bowl until it fills about ⅘ of the bowl. Then in the final 2 minutes of the “cooking” the grey liquid clears up and the soup is made. How this is done is still not fully understood. The bowl seems to also have a range in which it is able to take matter, it is able to take matter from at least 2 meters away from itself.
Further tests concluded that:
- The soup will always be 30℃ when done
- The bowl will not take matter from the table or counter it is sitting on
- If the bowl is disturbed or drunk before it is complete then the bowl immediately stops and you are left with a foul tasting grey liquid, this includes removing the items around it
- The “cooking” can be done back to back, meaning once one soup is done another can be made
- Any type of soup can be made although the bowl only makes 200ml plus 25g of other foodstuffs or just 225ml of liquid
- The bowl will only take 225g of mass from the surrounding material
- It is able to take matter from anything as long as the item is inorganic
The use of this object is as follows: during lunch hours personnel may take SCP-5975 out of the cardboard box for usage. Before using they must sign a document with their name, date, time, and clearence level. 10 minutes before the lunch hour is over the last person to use the object must place it back in the box and place the box in its original position.
SCP-5975 was retrieved by foundation personnel in █████████, United States. Residents at the local restaurant, █████, reported to have seen the head chef place rocks around the bowl and then say “chicken noodle soup”. Soon after the police where called and upon further investigation found out that the bowl can indeed convert rocks into soup. Soon after foundation personnel arrived and after some interrogation found out how the bowl was able to work.
