Description:
Item #: SCP-4406
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4406 is to be kept in a hermetically sealed, lead-lined box. Any personnel in the proximity of the box must be equipped with Level-A HAZMAT suits at all times unless given authorization for testing. SCP-4406 is assumed to be a temporary cognitohazard, increasing general and crystallized intelligence when exposed to its weak radiation field. When exposed to SCP-4406 or its radiation, non-biological material can assume similar properties to SCP-4406. As a result, all surfaces within a designated exclusion zone must be decontaminated. Ranking supervisors must determine this area according to room and container size.
Description: SCP-4406 is a necklace with its pendant resembling a roughly two-centimeter cube. SCP-4406 has a single string running from both sides, presumably for wearing around the neck. The string appears to be made from unidentifiable microscopic fibers, testing has revealed that the string can withstand upwards of eight-thousand mega-pascals. A maximum tensile strength has not been yet determined, as no approved testing machinery can produce the force required to break the string. Along with O5 approval, forms ██-███-███ and ██-███-███ must be completed prior to testing. SCP-4406 has been identified as slightly radioactive. The radioactivity itself has a negligible effect, only emitting a few beta rays a second. The half-life of contaminated objects is abnormally short, becoming non-detectable within a few minutes. Individuals who have come into direct contact or any interaction with SCP-4406's radioactive field display increased cognitive functions.
Captain Miller Kovac's Report [00-174-406]
The following is a brief report detailing the discovery of SCP-4406
SCP-4406 was found in a large system of tunnels, designated SCP-4612, under a Russian forest located at [DATA UNDER EVALUATION]. Field Agents [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] discovered the tunnel system after unpredicted seismic activity occurred, and a rupture exposed the tunnels. Completed surveys of SCP-4612 revealed no entrances from the surface, apart from three created by the seismic activity. For further information on SCP-4612, see the SCP-4612 document.
An MTF team lead by Captain Miller Kovac recovered the object. After the initial recovery, the object was placed in a lead-lined containment box.
SCP-4406 affected any personnel exposed to the object for longer than two minutes. Prior to the incident, most personnel were equipped with Level-B or higher HAZMAT suits. PVT Ramirez, an MTFO who initially handled the object while wearing non-standard issue fingerless gloves, was affected by the object. PVT Ramirez expressed a desire to wear the object and later refused to leave the object.
Upon arrival at Site ██ all personnel was ordered to visit a decontamination unit. Four days later PVT Ramirez was sent to sickbay ██ and a Class-A amnestic was administered. All other personnel was examined by a medical team; no major injuries were reported. SCP-4406 was transferred to its current location at [DATA UNDER EVALUATION].
Item #: SCP-4612
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4612 is to be sealed at all times, with the only entrance being an access tunnel that runs from Site 62 to SCP-4612. All area around or inside SCP-4612 is to be inspected for damage every six months. Signs of damage should be reported to the Site 62 Supervisor and immediately sealed. Due to the volume of requests, non-maintenance surveys must be requested through form ██-███-███ in addition to O5 approval. Maintenance duties should be rotated every six months and crew should receive background checks prior to duty.
Description: SCP-4612 is an interconnected network of tunnels located under a forest located at [DATA UNDER EVALUATION] in Russia. prior to the incident [00-612-001], a series of seismic events, there was no known entrance. During the event, three sinkholes opened up at [COORDANITES EXPUNGED] allowing for discovery by Foundation Field Agents [REDACTED] and [REDACTED].
The tunnels have a total length of ██.██km with several tunnels overlapping others, following an elliptical spheroid shape where tunnel density increases towards the center. Some areas are reinforced with concrete.
The facility is marked in several places with red Cyrillic text, most likely to indicate directions. The front entrance is marked "Павлов Испытательная Cтанция" (Pavlov Test Station).
Stumbling through the tunnels all he could hear was his heavy breathing. The filter on his gas mask appeared to be clogged and it now required great effort to take in air. He was loaded down with a heavy rucksack, and the only thing in his hands was an OTs-38 revolver.
He stopped to prop himself against a timber brace and looked up to see how much left he had to walk. He could see a shaft of dim light about two-hundred meters in front of him. He slid against the rough wall onto the floor and threw his head back, beginning to cough.
