Destruction caused by SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: All live instances of SCP-XXXX are to be contained within a twenty meter by twenty meter by five meter reinforced concrete pen designed to withstand extreme high winds and supersonic shockwaves. The inside walls and ceiling of the containment pen are to be lined with heavy-duty sound-dampening materials to minimize any damage that may be caused by SCP-XXXX. Specimens currently within Foundation custody have thus far been passive; being completely silent other than the occasional groan and when being provoked during Foundation research.

Only one instance of SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a single cell due to risk of hostilities between the specimens. To maintain the population of SCP-XXXX within Foundation property, only one instance of each sex is permitted to be released into an outdoor habitat to minimize damage to Foundation property during the specimen’s copulation procedures as artificial insemination has been tested but has led to no successful births. Research is currently under way.

As of ██/██/20██, there are thirteen present and contained instances of SCP-XXXX; it is unknown if more instances exist in the wild, but research is still being conducted on potential sightings.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a large reptilian quadruped measuring approximately 7 meters in length with a physical appearance resembling that of Varanus Komodoensis (Komodo Dragon) or Alligator Mississippiensis (American Alligator.) SCP-XXXX has abnormally large jaws for its size, opening to two meters in height, with up to 58 teeth lining both jaws.

The upper head of SCP-XXXX specimens contain 12 circular eyes in a line of 6 on either side of the head. Current autopsies have led to the conclusion that each eye responds to a specific wavelength of light (ranging from approximately one thousand two hundred nanometers (1200nm) in the infrared range, down to approximately one hundred nanometers (100nm) in the ultraviolet range) instead of the multiple color receptors found in each eye of most other creatures on earth. Instances of SCP-XXXX are extremely territorial and will often fight with members of the same sex, leading to the need to sperate specimens into individual pens.

SCP-XXXX possesses the ability to emit an extremely loud low frequency roar (up to 182 ███dB at a 10-30 Hz fundamental frequency) that is capable of incapacitating or killing most living creatures via rupture of internal organs. Specimens will refrain from making these extremely loud calls as they do lead to damage of their respiratory system, only calling when hunting, fighting, or mating. SCP-XXXX’s means of producing sounds this loud are currently being researched as it should be physically impossible for a creature of this size.

The bellows of SCP-XXXX are dangerously loud, and are often confused with the sound of thunder, explosives, and more recently, a phenomenon known by civilians as “sky trumpets;” a feared sound that some think to be the sound of the end of the world.

Addendum: The first instances of SCP-XXXX were discovered in ███████, Canada after reports of a loud booming was reported by locals. After no source of the sound was found, Foundation personnel were informed of the mysterious sounds by local state officials. The Foundation sent a small Mobile Task Force (MTF) disguised as fellow officials to investigate the area. Large patches of torn grass and broken trees were discovered in long, wide conical shapes. The following audio recording is an interview log of Officer David █████ after initial recovery.

During Initial recovery, the MTF had no point of reference for how loud this phenomenon was, therefore they arrived with no aural protection other than consumer-grade earplugs. After arriving on site at █████, ████████, Canada they came across two instances of SCP-XXXX at an approximate distance of 10 kilometers to observe at a distance. At this distance one of the instances, hereby called SCP-XXXX-1, was spotted fighting with another instances, named SCP-XXXX-2 before letting out its reported cry. At this distance a hard thud was reported by each member, MTF member █████ reported their glasses cracking, and MTF member ███████ reported deafness in their left ear, as well as blood within its canal.

Officer Overby: It was a hard thud that almost felt like it could’ve broken my chest. The only thing I've ever heard to be that loud was the testing of Site 104’s prototype on-site nuke. That god damn creature is as loud as a bomb… A [REDACTED] bomb!
