Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object class: Euclid Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Walls that are 5 metres high and 3 metres thick must be erected around the suburb containing SCP-XXXX. Walls that are 10 metres high and 5 metres thick must be erected around the suburb containing SCP-XXXX. No personnel without level 3 or higher clearance can enter the containment area. Guards must patrol the area and warning signs must be erected around the containment area to prevent the public from entering. The public must be deterred from entering by any means possible. Anyone attempting to enter or exit SCP-XXXX without clearance must be terminated on sight. All SCP-XXXX-1’s are to be terminated on sight.

Description: SCP-XXXX, code name: Red Heart Scratch, is an contact-based infection that causes an intolerable irritation to the skin on most human subjects. SCP-XXXX is localised in the South Australian suburb of ██████. SCP-XXXX was first reported when the ██████ family living in ██████ were found dead in their home on 19/0█/20██. It was later discovered that they had clawed themselves to death and forcefully removed all vital organs, along with several other victims in the area. When SCP-XXXX was found to be spreading the way it is, the foundation stepped in.

SCP-XXXX spreads by crawling along the ground12 until it reaches a personal item of an individual. SCP-XXXX then attaches to said of the victim. SCP-XXXX spreads onto the victim when they come into contact with the item or any other infected individuals. The infected are dubbed SCP-XXXX-1. After infection, SCP-XXXX begins to spread through SCP-XXXX-1, leaving red coloured marks across the body of of SCP-XXXX-1, while causing severe irritation to different parts of the body. As the irritation spreads, SCP-XXXX-1’s mental state begins to deteriorate. As SCP-XXXX-1’s mental state deteriorates, it becomes violent and begins attacking and spreading SCP-XXXX to any unaffected individuals. SCP-XXXX-1 then begins to violently scratch their skin due to SCP-XXXX’s irritation effect becoming more potent. As SCP-XXXX travels through the body, it targets vital organs, such as the heart and lungs, and moves through them. As SCP-XXXX moves through the organs, SCP-XXXX-1 begins to claw away skin and muscle in an attempt to reach inside their chest cavity to stop the irritation, often exposing and damaging their internal organs, causing fatal blood loss and [DATA EXPUNGED]. SCP-XXXX-1 then dies due to blood loss or [DATA EXPUNGED].

Multiple D-class personnel have been tested on the effects of SCP-XXXX however, all have expired after approximately 3 minutes of exposure. Only one person has been able to survive SCP-XXXX (see addendum below). The first D-class, D-7254 expired by tearing out their [DATA EXPUNGED]. The second, D-0234, had their hands restrained however, they still expired by scraping their chest and head against the containment walls. The third D-class, D-5134, was tied to a chair yet still expired by rocking the chair to the floor and scraping their head until expiration.

Addendum: Only one person has been able to survive the effects of SCP-XXXX, Matthew [REDACTED]. Matthew, now dubbed SCP-XXXX-2, is the only person known to survive the urges of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-2 was found in his home by research team █████(see Expedition-Log-SCP-XXXX). SCP-XXXX-2 is a 14 year old boy with a height of 5’9” (175cm) and is of British origins. SCP-XXXX-2 has been used in multiple studies of the effects and symptoms of SCP-XXXX, since SCP-XXXX-2 still shows non lethal symptoms such as, red markings and [DATA EXPUNGED]. SCP-XXXX-2 has reported the irritation being annoying at times and [DATA EXPUNGED] at others, however other symptoms such as red markings and [DATA EXPUNGED] remain but do not spread. SCP-XXXX-2 has reported the irritation spreads “similar to a bug under the skin.”

Log written by Dr. ████ in research team █████

Day 1: Today is the first day of exploring SCP-XXXX. We constantly have to wear these hazmat suits to prevent getting infected. I hope they work. I’ve forgotten most of the team. All I remember is our team consists of a D-class, [DATA EXPUNGED], and another scientist. I remember the scientists name’s Dr. Pravus. I hope we can get through this.

Day 2: We have set up camp about 300 metres from the entrance. We have plenty of food and water, not that we can use much of it. The infection does spread to food, so I’ve heard. I also learnt the [DATA EXPUNGED] name. Dr. Pravus isn’t coping well already.

Day 5: We’ve searched many houses. No survivors. Let’s just hope that we don’t get infected before we can find a survivor, if there is one.

Day 9: We lost [DATA EXPUNGED] to SCP-XXXX. He tore out his [DATA EXPUNGED] right in front of us. It was basically suicide! I hope we finish this before more of us die.

Day 12: We finally found a survivor! His name is Matthew [REDACTED]. We escorted him out before he was transported to site-45 for temporary containment. Researcher UGM will like this. The boy seemed really traumatised; I don’t blame him. If I was forced to watch my family tear out their [DATA EXPUNGED], I would be traumatised too.

Day 18: We lost Dr. Pravus today. We didn’t see him die; he just walked off into the distance. That night we heard, what we assumed, Dr. Pravus screaming. I really don’t like all of this. I can’t wait for all this to be over.

Day 20: We haven’t found anything else yet. We’re running low on supplies. HQ should send more but I don’t think we will survive for much longer. The D-class and I are currently what’s left of the research team. I’m honestly surprised that D-class and I can eat and drink so much.

Day 32: Everyone else is dead. I’m the last of the research team. HQ will send a rescue team to me. Damn it, why did [DATA CORRUPTED]?! If we had worked together more, then SCP-XXXX-1 wouldn’t have killed us! I told the D-class to shoot it, but he didn’t. He just stood there as SCP-XXXX-1 attacked him. I was the one that had to pick up the gun and shoot them both.

Day 34: I’ve been rescued. Oh god was that terrible. I hope that the boy we rescued will be of value to us. It was only 34 days, I think, yet it was torture. I’m never going back there again, and I hope no one else will. We’ll need to change the containment procedures to terminate all SCP-XXXX-1’s on sight.

Audio log from Interview XXXX-2-1

Interviewer: Researcher UGM
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX-2 (AKA Matthew [REDACTED])
Foreword: SCP-XXXX-2 after being retrieved by research team █████
Begin log.

UGM: How are you feeling today Mr. [REDACTED]?

SCP-XXXX-2: Please, call me Matthew researcher.

UGM: Right, sorry. Anyway, how are you feeling? Has the infection progressed?

SCP-XXXX-2: I feel itchy, but I guess that’s normal with the infection. It feels like I can’t live if I don’t scratch it, but I can resist, unlike my family.

UGM: Right, your family. Unfortunately, they couldn’t be saved. When research team █████ found you, your family was tearing out their organs, correct?

SCP-XXXX-2 can be heard shuffling in its seat and doesn’t answer.

UGM: I’m sorry, but if you could answer, that would—

SCP-XXXX-2 interrupts researcher UGM

SCP-XXXX-2: Yes. They were basically already dead. I was just standing there, looking at them as they die. It was horrible…

SCP-XXXX-2 remains silent. It can be heard that he has laid his head on the table.

UGM: Are you all right?

SCP-XXXX-2 remains silent.

UGM: Right. I think it’s time for you to return to containment.

Two (2) guards enter the room and escort SCP-XXXX-2 out of the room.

End log.

Audio log from Interview XXXX-2-2

Interviewer: Dr. █████
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX-2 (AKA Matthew [REDACTED])
Foreword: SCP-XXXX-2 two (2) weeks after it was found.

Begin log.

Dr. █████: How are you feeling today Matt?

SCP-XXXX-2: I feel fine, however I wish to speak with researcher UGM.

█████: That can be arranged. How is the infection feeling?

SCP-XXXX-2: It feels like it just won’t go away. It doesn’t get any better or worse however.

Papers can be heard shuffling as Dr. █████ retrieves information.

█████: We have been recently informed that you are the only survivor of SCP-XXXX. How does that make you feel?

SCP-XXXX-2: “How does that make you feel?” What are you? A psychiatrist? I don’t think so.

█████: Answer the question please.

SCP-XXXX-2: I… I feel like I-I’m… alone. Alone with this stupid infection. I wish I was dead at times. I just want to see my family again; AND THEY JUST LET THEM DIE!

SCP-XXXX-2 can be heard jumping out of his seat towards Dr. █████ while yelling and swearing about how research team █████ didn’t save his family. Two (2) guards can be heard rushing in and restraining SCP-XXXX-2. They tranquillise SCP-XXXX-2 and carry it back to containment.

End log

Note: SCP-XXXX-2 is to be contained inside a 10mx10mx3m room within site-45. The room must be split into sixths. Each sixth is a room that SCP-XXXX-2 can use. The bathroom must not be monitored. Any breach of privacy will result in extreme agitation from SCP-XXXX-2. Internet connection in the computer room be monitored at all times. One (1) third (two (2) sixths) of the containment room must be dedicated to research. SCP-XXXX-2 only requires basic human facilities such as food, water, and personal hygiene. SCP-XXXX-2 seems to be most comfortable in the presence of researcher UGM. It may become violent at times or have a violent tone of voice. Such behaviour must be reported to researcher UGM. SCP-XXXX-2 is awaiting further testing for SCP classification and/or weaponisation.
