Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5038-01 is to be kept in a wooden box the size of the object itself. This box is to be kept in a small room with no windows. Security clearance level 4 is required to access SCP-5038-01 containment. EXPERIMENTATION WITH SCP-5038-01 IS NO LONGER ALLOWED AND AN SCP-5038 EVENT IS NOT TO BE STARTED DUE TO EVENT-██ AND EXPERIMENT [REDACTED].
Description: SCP-5038 is an event, in which, a series of trans-dimensional rifts open in specific locations on Earth's surface. These rifts can vary in size, with one forming over [REDACTED] meters tall. Rift size is based on size of entities that exit these rifts during an SCP-5038 event. An SCP-5038 event is started when SCP-5038-01, a medieval ritual dagger, comes in contact with the blood of any living human being. If an individual spends an extended amount of time (24 to 36 hours) within a room containing SCP-5038-01, they will begin to form a sudden urge to commit suicide with SCP-5038-01, starting an SCP-5038 event.
When the event is started, 5 specific locations on Earth will begin to exhibit anomalous properties. These locations being a remote location in western [REDACTED], just south-west of [REDACTED], a remote location in [REDACTED], on the eastern side of [REDACTED], and in [REDACTED]. An area with a radius varying in size, will begin to heat up in each of these locations. The area gets to about 350°C. Once this temperature is reached, SCP-5038-01 will teleport to a random location. The first rift will then open in any of the locations mentioned. An entity will then exit this rift. The entity differs in size with each event but the description remains roughly the same. A hoofed humanoid with a varying red to brown discoloration to the skin. The entity has the head of a goat with the horns having different appearances with each different entity. It resembles the image of the Sabbitic Goat and images related to Baphomet. Connections have been drawn to satanism.
After this entity emerges, it begins walking to a specific location in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean, indifferent to any human near it unless severely harmed or captured. Within 6-12 hours of the first rift closing behind the entity, the second rift will open and a similar entity will emerge. This will happen until all 5 rifts have been opened and an entity emerges. Once an entity reaches it's desired location in the North Atlantic Ocean, it will begin to harden and become stony. It will no longer move after this point. It is suspected to be waiting on the other entities to arrive. The Foundation has never allowed all of the entities to meet, as this could be catastrophic.
Addendum 5038.01: The entities that exit the portal are sapient. They know what they are doing and supposedly why they are doing it. Attempts to capture and contain one of the entities have been successful and an interview was conducted with the entity.

Closing Statement: The entity became frenzied and spoke of "the binding" for 6 hours until ultimately disentigrating into what appears to be ash.
Addendum 5038.02: Multiple experiments involving the eradication of the entities known now as "walkers" or "pilgrims" during certain stages of an SCP-5038 event. It was also found that bodies of the entities do not last long, eventually crumbling to what is suspected to be ash. An autopsy was attempted on a entity shortly after termination. The autopsy found that the entity consisted of multiple organs that have unknown processes. The entities seem to not require sustenance, as there is an absence of a digestive system. Entities do not consist of a respiratory or circulatory system either.

SCP-5038 Event: ██
Procedure: Termination of first entity following activation of event.
Results: Cessation of entire SCP-5038 event and anomalous activity at other locations.
Analysis: Entities can be terminated relatively easily and termination of first entity can prevent further progress of later stages of the event in case of accidental beginning of SCP-5038 event.

SCP-5038 Event: ██
Procedure: Termination of second entity after first entity enters dormant state at convergence point.
Results: Dormant entity crumbled into many pieces directly after termination of second entity. Pieces were recovered and tested.
Analysis: Analysis of the pieces have led to the discovery of many earth elements within the stone pieces. Many unknown elements also exist. More research to be done.
Addendum 5038.03: An experiment involving a GPS tracking device on SCP-5038-01 was conducted.

SCP-5038 Event: █
Procedure: A GPS tracking device is to be secured onto SCP-5038-01, then an SCP-5038 event is to be initiated by a single drop of blood.
Results: After termination of the SCP-5038 event, SCP-5038-01 was successfully located on the bank of Lake Eerie near Toledo, Ohio
Analysis SCP-5038-01 can be easily tracked all over the world following an SCP-5038 event and can easily be retrieved as it's location is usually not easily discoverable.
Experiment [REDACTED] was also conducted to monitor the effect of SCP-5038-01 on a human subject within it's vicinity. SCP-5038-01 seems to corrupt all video and audio recordings of it. A research audio log from Dr.█████ is all that is left of Experiment [REDACTED].

Dr.█████: 6 hours since introduction of the D-Class to 5038-01. The D-Class claims to "feel something in the room". He asks to leave but is denied for obvious reasons.
Dr.█████: 10 hours since introduction of the D-Class…hmm *heavy breathing* the D-Class has developed paranoia. He says he feels the walls are closing in on him. He claims to hear whispers.
Dr.█████: 22 hours since introduction… of the D-Class. He's just…the D-Class is just staring at SCP-5038-01. He's stopped communicating with us…after saying something about "them yelling". The voices..that is.
Dr.█████: 27 hours since introduction and…Jesus. After continued chanting in Latin…fucking cut himself up…the D-Class took SCP-5038-01 and proceeded to…slit his wrists vertically. He then… he fucking spilled his own guts!

Analysis: Experiment resulted in SCP-5038 event and the death of ███████ personnel and civilians.
This experiment, dubbed Experiment [REDACTED], was the cause of Event-██ and the cessation of experimentation of SCP-5038-01 and the event.
