Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5049 is to be kept locked in a standard lockbox at Site-77's Containment Vaults. All Personnel is allowed to use SCP-5049 for research purposes only.
Description: SCP-5049 are a pair of sentient socks that will act on their own once wore by a another sentient being. SCP-5049 will take full control of the subject's legs, from the knees to the feet. SCP-5049 seems to have the need to take the wearer to a certain place related to the subject's objectives or needs. If the subject allows itself to be taken to its destination, SCP-5049 will then give control of the legs back if the subject has no other occupations to take. When a subject wearing SCP-5049 is under attack, SCP-5049 will forget it's original destination and try to escape from all possible danger. If cornered by the aggressor, SCP-5049 will use the subject's legs to kick away the aggressor and try to protect itself and the wearer. SCP-5049 shows to understand when a subject wants to remove the socks from their feet, and will stop wherever they are going to allow the wearer to remove them. SCP-5049 at all times will keep itself stuck to the floor, unless it's taking a step. If the wearer of SCP-5049 falls over while it's in movement, SCP-5049 might not be able to stop in time, and injure the subject by breaking it's ankles. In several tests, side effects from SCP-5049 have been shown. This may be simple foot infections, but tend to appear more frequently than while wearing any other footwear. These infections don't require any special medical assistance, and are usually healed from 4 days to 2 weeks after contracting them.
The cloth of SCP-5049 appears to never get dirty, wet or adquire any stink. Multiple times it has been attempted to incinerate, soak or spray SCP-5049 with different liquids and chemicals, but none have resulted in any successful damage.
In appearance, SCP-5049 is a pair of white socks that raise to shin altitude. It has 4 black stripes printed across the cuff and it's made of cotton. SCP-5049 is proven to able to stretch as much as twice it's size to fit any size of foot.
Addendum-5049-A: Discovery.
SCP-5049 was first mentioned on an online forum where an user mentioned how it had in its possession a pair of "Magical Socks". SCP Scientists monitoring for any out of the regular conversations saw of this and quickly investigated more on it. On the 10 of July, 2012, SCP-5049 was recovered from the citizen's department. As mentioned on the online forum, now deleted from all social media, SCP-5049 is a pair of socks that would lead anyone to their nearest point of need.
Addendum-5049-B: Side Effects.
SCP-5049 had been detected to have minor side effects on subjects who have previously wore SCP-5049. The side effects are, but not limited to, Athlete's foot, Bunions, Ingrown toenails, Blisters, etc. All of this side effects appear faster and more frequently while wearing SCP-5049 than when wearing regular fabric made socks. This infections are no different from the regularly adquired infections and should be treated equally.
