Timeline of events before Foundation involvement - this will be worked into the draft with more detail & terminology once/if concept is greenlit

- An extraterrestrial object entered earth's orbit, was pulled into the gravity well, and impacted approximately 100 million years ago near 44N, 103W, in the middle of what would eventually be called North America.
- Current era: A town and mine are established near the now long-buried impact crater
- Miners discover the object eventually. It converts the first to come into physical contact and spreads quickly.
- quasi Day of the Dead scenario with converted miners attempting to convert the rest of the town
- Town sheriff manages to contact national guard with general description of events before being converted himself
- National guard arrives, sets up a perimeter.
- Some converted townspeople get close enough to the perimeter and convert a few national guard infantry along with a regional politician who is convinced the whole thing is a government conspiracy
- National guard brings in army corps of engineers, who build a physical barrier around the town with a single secured ingress/egress
- CDC arrive to investigate, enter town, and are converted in spite of E.T. style protective suits
- SCP foundation finally involved.

Rough draft follows.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Since SCP-XXXX aggressively attacks all forms of technology and aggressively attempts to convert anything resembling a human, containment of the town where the entire population currently resides was determined to be the most expedient option. There are approximately 950 of SCP-XXXX located within the town, which is surrounded by steel barriers. Remote surveillance includes alarms if any of SCP-XXXX attempt to leave the town.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a humanoid creature created when a human comes into physical contact with another of SCP-XXXX. It is the same approximate height, weight, and general shape as the converted human subject, covered entirely with greenish-brown skin bearing a dried and cracked appearance. There are no visible external organs, though SCP-XXXX has shown that it is able to both see and hear those around it. If SCP-XXXX can see or hear a living human, it will immediately become aggressively fixated on touching that human to begin the conversion process. When in this state, SCP-XXXX has no self-preservation drive whatsoever and can only be stopped by being terminated. Standard anti-personnel methods are effective. Corpses disintegrate when terminated.

The first outbreak was in a mining town not far from ███████, South Dakota. The entire town was converted before authorities arrived, and subsequent victims included 5 US National Guard infantry, 2 CDC scientists, and 1 regional politician. As determined by the CDC on-site before the Foundation became involved, SCP-XXXX begins the conversion process instantly upon physical contact with a living human subject. Garments, whether they be protective or otherwise, have no effect on stopping or even slowing this effect, and disintegrate quickly during the conversion process. Any other objects held or worn by the subject also disintegrate.

From a distance and monitored via infrared, the current population of SCP-XXXX appears to behave as a normal town of about 1000. They enter buildings and leave them, they interact with each other both indoors and out, most remain indoors at night, and they even appear to have social groupings, though this is in dispute as they are difficult to tell apart from each other.

In an effort to obtain more footage for research, the foundation equipped (1) canis latrans found near the town with a harness including a camera, and sent it towards the town. When discovered by SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX ripped the harness, smashed the camera, and walked away. The canis latrans left the town otherwise unscathed.
