Item number: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Two members of STF Rho-22 (Bridge Trolls) are to be posted at the entrance to SCP-XXXX as guard. They are to turn away anyone attempting to cross the bridge.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a bridge constructed out of unsanded wood located in Santa Rosa, California, over the [REDACTED] River. Instances of SCP-XXXX appear to range from 5 ft to 20 ft in length, although the actual length of the bridges are currently unmeasurable. SCP-XXXX instances can generally be found crossing small rivers. An arch is present at the entrance of each instance. At the top of the arch a phrase is written in Hebrew: ” כל העולם כולו גשר צר מאוד והעיקר לא לפחד כלל‎” (kol ha’olam kulo gesher tsar me’od veha’ikar lo lefached klal). This phrase translates to “The whole world is a very narrow bridge and the main thing is not to be afraid at all”.

When a subject crosses SCP-XXXX, the passage will begin to feel

Exploration Log #1:
Subject: D-9750
Procedures: A tracker was given to D-9750. D-9750 was then instructed to cross SCP-XXXX and report what he saw.
Dr. Twelve: Are you ready to begin, D-9750?
D-9750: As I’ll ever be, I guess. It’s just crossing a bridge, right? Could be worse.
Dr. Twelve: Alright. Let us know when you step over the threshold.
D-9750: Okay. Starting in three, two, one… and we’re off.

(Twenty minutes pass)
D-9750: Hey, doctor? How long did you say this bridge was?
Dr. Twelve: According to our observations, about seven feet. Why?
D-9750: Right, it’s just that… if the bridge really was that long, wouldn’t I be across it by now?
Dr. Twelve: Are you saying that you aren’t?
D-9750: It’s crazy. I can’t even see the end of this.
Dr. Twelve: Keep walking.

(Sixty-five minutes pass)
D-9750: God… where the hell am I?
Dr. Twelve: The bridge should only be crossing a river in Santa Rosa, California. Are you somewhere else?
D-9750: I know where I was. But I’m definitely not there now.
Dr. Twelve: What do you see around you?
D-9750: It’s… a whole lotta nothing, really. Not all white or something like that. It’s just… nothing. Feels like I’m in space or underwater, but I can still breathe just fine.
Dr. Twelve: D-9750, I hate to break it to you, but we have no idea where you are.
D-9750: What? What do you mean you don’t know where I am? I thought you had some sort of tracker or something!
Dr. Twelve: We do. Our systems show that the tracker is perfectly operational, however… You are not appearing on any known maps.
D-9750: Oh god… How much longer am I going to be here for?
Dr. Twelve: The best option you have is to keep walking until you reach the end of the bridge. When you reach the end, your location should come back up, and we can send in a group to recover you. … Provided that you’re still on our Earth, or in this dimension or reality, of course.
D-9750: You’re saying I could end up in a place like that? Seriously?
Dr. Twelve: D-9750. Please continue walking.

(Two hours and thirteen minutes pass)
D-9750: How long have I been walking for?
Dr. Twelve: You’ve been walking for approximately three hours and thirty-eight minutes, D-9750.
D-9750: Seriously? That long? It feels like I’ve been walking for days.
Dr. Twelve: I can assure you that you have not.
D-9750: Man… I need a break. My feet are killing me.
Dr. Twelve: I’m afraid that the more time you spend on this bridge, the more time it will take to find you.
D-9750: Fine, fine. (sighs) I’ll keep going.
Dr. Twelve: Have you noticed any change in your surroundings?
D-9750: If there were anything, I’d have noticed. Although…
Dr. Twelve: Although?
D-9750: It’s nothing, really. Just that… other than the pain in my feet and the annoyance, I feel… calm, for some reason.
Dr. Twelve: Do you know what caused you to feel this way?
D-9750: I don’t know. Nothing’s changed. I just… don’t really feel scared or anything. Kinda weird.

Conclusion: D-9750 continued to walk for another hour and a half before reaching the end of the bridge. His location reappeared on the foundation GPS map. D-9750’s location was listed as Lisse, The Netherlands. The subject had travelled 5415.88 miles by foot in less than four hours.
