Item #: SCP-4XXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Both instances SCP-4XXX are currently contained in a 10m x 10m x 5m soundproof chamber under video surveillance via cameras stationed in each corner of the area. Twenty additional walls on all sides of the chamber, separated by no less than an inch of distance between each other, are to be kept maintained. In addition, two painting easels with ample painting supplies and spare canvases when needed, as well as one ‘Senet’ Board game (as requested through sketch) are to be available. No personnel are to come into contact with either instance of SCP-4XXX outside of testing approved by Level 3 Personnel. If access to either instance of SCP-4XXX is required, subjects will be lowered into the chamber through a small latch opening on the ceiling of the chamber. Neither instance of SCP-4XXX requires nourishment of any form.
In the event of a containment breach, temperatures of at least -30 degrees Celsius and below have proven effective at gradually immobilizing both instances of SCP-4XXX with continued exposure. Upon complete immobilization both instances of SCP-4XXX are to be placed back within their containment chambers. After a period of, on average, an hour, both instances of SCP-4XXX will begin to move as normal. During this period of recovery, the original cause of the breach of containment is to be solved or, failing this, appear to be solved to SCP-4XXX.
Once containment has been breached, the behavior of both instances of SCP-4XXX is predictable. Both instances of SCP-4XXX will proceed to roam the facility together until a source of ‘injustice’ is located. Sources of ‘injustice’ at their mildest point can include physical altercation or, at its highest, another SCP breaching containment with the latter being a potential cause for SCP-4XXX-1 and -2 to breach containment in the first place. Upon locating this source of ‘injustice’, hereafter referred to as SCP-4XXX-3 both instances of SCP-4XXX will enter a state of extreme aggression towards -3 and will begin to engage it in combat. SCP-4XXX-1 and -2 will, invariably, use lethal force when dealing with an instance of SCP-4XXX-3 and will only cease their aggression after SCP-4XXX-3 has perished. While SCP-4XXX-1 and SCP-4XXX-2 appear to be fairly co-operative whenever a source of ‘injustice’
Description: SCP-4XXX collectively refers to two separate instances of SCP-4XXX, titled SCP-4XXX-1 and SCP-4XXX-2. Both instances of SCP-4XXX appear to be beige (SCP-4XXX-1 is now white in coloration following Incident 4XXX-2011-1) mummies wrapped up in dozens of layers of bandages. X-rays on SCP-4XXX-1 and -2 show that elongated human skeletons are concealed deep beneath the layers of bandages.
SCP-4XXX-1 is 2.6 meters tall and wields a Khopesh that is kept entangled by the bandages on the right side of SCP-4XXX-1’s waist when not in use. The Khopesh SCP-4XXX-1 is approximately 1 meter in length and is ██ times denser. Both the size and density of the Khopesh likely owes its anomalous origins to SCP-4XXX-2 (See SCP-4XXX-2 below). SCP-4XXX-1 can ‘expand’ whatever objects or materials it is either directly touching or connected to an object SCP-4XXX-1 is touching, including living organisms, but excluding gases (See Addendum 4XXX-C). This ‘expansion’ ability is typically utilized to create holes in walls that SCP-4XXX can then reach through or, if expanded enough, step through completely. Additionally, SCP-4XXX-1 has shown the ability to use its expansion to push and/or pull materials in various directions as well as freely wrapping the materials around another object, effectively physically combining the two.
During Incident 4XXX-2011-1, SCP-4XXX-1 was gravely injured after a fight between it, SCP-4XXX-2, and SCP-457. Over an estimated 93% of SCP-4XXX-1’s bandages were forcefully removed by -1 after they were lit on fire. This notably caused -1 a great deal of pain when prior physical damage done to the outer ‘layers’ of SCP-4XXX-1 were met with no real concern or acknowledgement. Portions of SCP-4XXX-1’s inner body were visible after this event, with witnesses describing SCP-4XXX-1’s body as a blue, slightly mummified, elongated human corpse corresponding with X-Rays done prior. During this state, -1 was in a great deal of pain, the first and only time either instance of SCP-4XXX vocalized, screaming wildly before falling limp onto the floor. Following Incident-4XXX-2011-1, and a recovery period in which SCP-4XXX-1’s bandages are now white, rather than their previous beige coloration.
SCP-4XXX-2 is 2.5 meters tall and wields a custom Bolt Action Magazine Hunting Rifle, most closely resembling a Fabrique Nationale model 1949, with various Egyptian hieroglyphic symbols carved alongside the stock, and slightly modified to better fit SCP-4XXX-2’s proportions. Many of the Egyptian Symbols carved into the rifle appear crude and imperfect. When questioned about this, -2 replied with a small sketch of SCP-4XXX-1 (distinguished by the weapon at its side), implying that it carved in the symbols. Unlike SCP-4XXX-1’s Khopesh and other than the aforementioned ██% size increase, the rifle’s mass and density do not appear to be outside of reasonable values. SCP-4XXX-2 is able to ‘compress’ whatever objects or materials it is either directly touching or connected to an object SCP-4XXX-2 is touching, including living organisms and gases. This ‘compression’ ability is typically used by SCP-4XXX-2 in order to form makeshift bullets for its rifle, which fires these bullets with no discernable issue at all despite the heavily increased density and overall normally incompatible composition of most of the makeshift-bullets used. When the rifle is not in use, SCP-4XXX-2 prefers to wrap it in its bandages on its back.
Both ‘expansion’ and ‘compression’ abilities shown by SCP-4XXX appear to have no current limits in number of times applied, size of object condensed (or expanded), or duration. Both instances of SCP-4XXX have shown no apparent difficulty in using these abilities on any material, and it is currently unknown whether anything can ‘resist’ these effects. Upon a second touch (see Test Log) by either instance of SCP-4XXX (as -1 can reverse the effects of -2 and vice versa, as well as either instance being capable of reversing their own expansion/compression).
Both instances of SCP-4XXX lack ability of complex speech and are unable to write in any language other than Middle Egyptian, and as such typically communicate through drawings or simplistic gestures. Despite this apparent handicap, SCP-4XXX-1 and SCP-4XXX-2 show no issues whatsoever in communicating and coordinating with each other (See Test Log 4XXX) despite a complete lack of audible communication as well as not doing any of the aforementioned gestures. Whether or not there is some sort of telepathy between the two is currently unknown and under investigation.
Addendum:
Addendum 4XXX-B: Following Incident 4XXX-2011-1, both instances of SCP-4XXX now display extreme discomfort around any source of fire larger than a standard campfire and will attempt to put it out immediately. Notably, for a period of three weeks after SCP-4XXX-1 is believed to have fully recovered from Incident-4XXX-2011-1, SCP-4XXX-2 displayed extreme levels of aggression towards any photo or video evidence of what it believed to be SCP-457 and attempted to destroy it when possible. As of ██-██-2011, SCP-4XXX-2 has displayed no signs of outward aggression towards images or footage of SCP-457. Any actual interaction between SCP-457 and either instance of SCP 4XXX is to be avoided. The possibility of transferring SCP-4XXX-1 and SCP-4XXX-2 to another Site away from SCP-457 is currently under consideration.
Addendum 4XXX-C: Following Incident 4XXX-2011-1 and its recovery period, SCP-4XXX-1 displayed the ability to use its expansion on gases within a small area in front of its palm. In tests (See Test Log 4XXX), SCP-4XXX-1 has used this to divert incoming flames and has, notably, shown to be able to put out small fires from several feet away . It is currently unknown whether SCP-4XXX-1 has always had the ability to do so, or developed it as a countermeasure after Incident 4XXX-2011-1.
Incident 4XXX-2011-1
Incident Record
On ██-██-2011 at 12:08 AM SCP-████ breached containment following a Richter-scale intensity 7.5 earthquake which damaged its containment chamber, causing extensive damage to numerous areas, including the airtight chambers at the entrance of SCP-457’s containment area, before being sedated and recontained. During this event, SCP-4XXX-1 and SCP-4XXX-2 also breached containment and headed towards SCP-██-██, following its path of destruction. At 12:36 AM, SCP-457 was able to breach containment shortly before SCP-██-██’s recontainment and, according to security footage, located approximately ██ lbs of flammable material and assumed a humanoid shape. Due to the damage caused by the earthquake and SCP-████’s breach, a majority of the sprinkler system installed around the area was rendered temporarily unoperational.
At 12:39 AM, SCP-4XXX-1, -2, and SCP-457 crossed paths. Footage and personnel witness reports show both instances of SCP-4XXX entering an intense state of aggression towards SCP-457 likely believing that it was somehow the cause of all the damage.
At 12:41 AM, SCP-457 successfully set SCP-4XXX-1’s lower arm aflame stunning SCP-4XXX-1, allowing SCP-457 to proceed to do the same to the entirety of SCP-4XXX-1 which likely saw it as an ample source of fuel. At this time, both SCP-4XXX-1 and SCP-4XXX-2 ceased aggression towards SCP-457 as -1 stumbled around the room screaming intensely, vocalizing for the first (and only) time since it was first contained.
At 12:42 AM SCP 4XXX-1 used its expansion ability on itself, gripping its bandaged exterior tightly before forcefully removing over an estimated 90% (Later determined to be a more exact estimate of 93%) of its bandages. Personnel on site quickly dispatched the flames and engaged SCP-457, occupying it while SCP-4XXX-1 collapsed to the floor and was joined by SCP-4XXX-2 coming to its aid soon after. During this time, parts of what is believed to be SCP-4XXX-1’s true form were revealed to be a large, blue, mummified corpse. SCP-4XXX-1 could still move in this state, though with great difficulty and pain.
At 1:18 AM SCP-4XXX-2 willing re-entered containment, carrying a wounded SCP-4XXX-1 in its arms.
As of 1:31 AM, SCP-457 was reduced down to its former size and successfully transported back to its containment chamber surrounded by armed personnel. Heightened 24/7 security was put into place until SCP-457’s containment chamber could be fully repaired and operational.
In the weeks following the incident, both instances of SCP-4XXX remained almost entirely motionless as the bandaged ‘exterior’ of SCP-4XXX-1 repaired itself, with the remaining bandages seemingly duplicating themselves to accomplish this. During this period of recovery, neither instance of SCP-4XXX attempted to breach containment even when similar opportunities to enact ‘justice’ presented themselves. Similarly, any attempts to physically interact with SCP-4XXX-2 were met with noncompliance. Any attempts to interact with SCP-4XXX-1, however, were met with extreme aggression by SCP-4XXX-2.
