Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be placed in a standard anomalous document locker in Site-64's E Wing. Testing is restricted to Level 2 personal with permission from a Level 4 administrator. Testing is not allowed at this time unless express permission is given by Level 4 personnel (see Incident Report XXXX A for more details).

Description: SCP-XXXX is a cookbook, 8 inches by 10 inches, which is bound in a dark brown material and features the title "The Cannibal Cowboy's Cookbook" in yellow lettering. The picture on the front features a caricature of a cowboy tasting soup from a cast iron pot, which is over a fire. The binding material feels akin to faux leather. Testing of said material came back as inconclusive. The publication information inside the book states it was printed in 1973 by the company ██████ █████████ ██████████. No record of such a book being published by said company exists and no employees, past or present, have any memory of the book.

The book contains 32 recipes of a western or cowboy theme, centered around a character named "Bob 'The Cannibal' Larson", who is presented as a real historical figure that became famous due to his many crimes, including cannibalism. No record of such a person ever existing has been found. The recipes all include some amount of meat, which is referred to as "human flesh" followed by the actual intended meat in brackets (usually pork, beef or chicken). It is to be noted that the amount of meat required is usually larger then the standard amount one would use for such a recipe. Anyone who reads this book will find the recipes to be appealing, regardless of whether or not they usually enjoy the food or ingredients used to make it. They will feel an urge to make the food that will last up to 12 days after viewing, depending on how much was read and how long they viewed the images.

SCP-XXXX was first recovered by field agents in the town of ██████, Oregon on March 23rd, 199█ after a report involving a woman who was arrested after she allegedly removed 3 pounds of flesh from her sister's abdomen and thighs, then used them to prepare a version of "Southwestern Beef Brisket" (found on pg 24 off SCP-XXXX), despite the fact that her sister was almost 2000 km away from her at the time (see Interview Log XXXX-1 for more details).

It appears that when a person, hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-1, attempts to use the meat specified by SCP-XXXX's recipe it is replaced by human flesh during the cooking process. This effect is instantaneous and appears to happen at random through the cooking time period. This flesh comes from a person SCP-XXXX-1 is close with, often a sibling or parent.(see Addendum XXXX-A). Any attempt to use other materials in the place of the recommended meat will result in the recipe coming out as expected given the ingredients used and instructions followed.

Addendum XXXX-A: When SCP-XXXX-1 attempts to recreate a SCP-XXXX recipe using the meat suggested it will invariably be replaced with human flesh (mimicking the manner in which the original meat is prepared) at a random point during the cooking process. While those who have not read the book within 12 days may notice the change, anyone currently under SCP-XXXX's influence will not notice this, even if it's pointed out to them. The human flesh is sourced from SCP-XXXX-1's closest living blood relative, and generally comes from the thighs, hips, abdomen and posterior, although if not enough flesh is available in these areas it will be taken from elsewhere. This transfer is instantaneous which causes most victims, hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-2, to go into shock and bleed out in a matter of minutes. The removal of said flesh is done precisely with a weapon the medical examiner compared to a well sharpened buck knife.

Test XXXX-01 - 199█/03/25

Participants: D-1776

Procedure: Subject is to read a the recipe from SCP-XXXX for Barley & Lentil Soup (found on pg 14), and then be provided the necessary ingredients and working space for the subject to complete the recipe. Barley & Lentil Soup contains the least amount of meat required in the book, 14 ounces of sausage.

Results: D-1776, hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-1-B, prepared the dish as instructed. 2 minutes and 42 seconds into cooking the sausage, staff noted that the sausage seemed to change color slightly to a lighter shade. When asked about this change SCP-XXXX-1-B claimed to notice no difference. D-1776's brother (hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-2-B) was being monitored 2602 km away by a medical team and, at the exact same time the meat changed color, was reported to grab at abdomen and vocalize distress. He was treated for a wound just under the left rib cage that was caused by approximately 14 ounces of flesh being removed. When SCP-XXXX-1-B was asked to try the sausage and report on the taste, subject stated it "tasted great" and was "like the polish sausages my mom used to make".

Analysis: SCP-XXXX seems to target family member, although it is still unclear it this time if that is a constant or if it might also use flesh from people SCP-XXXX-1 feel close too. Subject seems unable to seem, feel or taste the change in meat.
