SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-XXXX are to be placed inside an appropriately-sized containment chamber located at Site 56-2V. Level 2 clearance or higher is required before testing with an air-gapped computer. Any cameras to be used for recording tests must not show any part of the monitors connected to SCP-XXXX. Any references to specific serial numbers relating to SCP-XXXX on the World Wide Web are to be removed and its origin tracked, where amnestics will be applied to the people involved in distributing the info.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a graphics card designated as AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT from serial numbers [REDACTED]. Aside from its original functions for graphics & compute, when installed on any compatible motherboard, regardless of operating system, it will display a program named EAsIF on the desktop environment which is non-removable until the GPU is detached from the system and replaced with a non-anomalous one.

Opening EAsIF reveals the real-time conscious thoughts of the person who has made any keyboard, mouse or trackpad input on the computer SCP-XXXX is connected to. Thoughts can be displayed in any manner as the person sees fit, coherent or otherwise. The person can move around freely and interact with others normally afterward, and the effect lasts until the computer is powered off. No thoughts shown in the window of EAsIF manifest beyond its boundaries. Attempts to record the video stream using video recording/streaming software, or external camera output, have resulted in only static recordings.

A maximum of 4 monitors can be connected to SCP-XXXX, and a maximum of 4 people can be detected by it at a time as a result of touching same inputs. This can result in the following:

  • Independent thoughts shown per connected monitor (same amount of people as monitors connected, same inputs touched).
  • Initially juxtaposed thoughts of people detected (lesser amount of monitors connected compared to the number of people touching same inputs). People involved can then browse each other's memories and thoughts, and attempt to appropriately coexist or block each other out (at least one thought in text format must show, completely blocking each other's access is not possible). However those exposed to amnestics will not have their memories revealed prior to the application of it.

At undefined intervals the monitor connected to SCP-XXXX will show a black screen while the computer remains powered on. Initially thought to be driver issues, testing from the IT department has shown that during this phase the screen is showing PWM flickering at multiple low frequencies not perceivable by the naked eye. These frequencies translate to sentences on the native language of the person/people that has last used SCP-XXXX, showing subconscious thoughts which was confirmed upon psychiatric evaluation.

SCP-XXXX was discovered on ██/██/20██ after monitoring Internet servers for any discrepancies or unauthorized information going publicly. A discrepancy was found wherein all servers were offline for Wish.com, a website notable for numerous suppliers that provide scams and faulty items, however the website itself remained online from an unidentifiable source. This discrepancy occurred for 24 hours.

During this time a supplier named litfam (Literally Inconceivable Things: Fulfilled And Maintained) appearing. Crawling through Wish.com's servers show no history of the supplier and links pointing to the supplier since ██/██/20██ have been defunct.

I could not stand it. The mess they've made on what was once a place of wonder and belief. They call just it an online selling website now. They rarely even sell anything real anymore. They've stripped it off everything I grew up about it.

For once, as a last sign of hope, I wanted - no wait needed - to give it meaning again. We've always been conditioned and constrained to enjoy and be entertained within the limits of what we only have. To rely on those representations with people we barely know.

If only we could see beyond that. And for a time, we actually did. Sure, we still do, but we didn't need to depend on what screens and papers showed to us. All we needed was to think. Think for ourselves, for the ones we knew and trust.

I wanted to find a way to make people think again. Show them what they have neglected for so long. If I'm going to be in this world for just a little while longer.
