Display shown after a quarter is inserted.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5170 is to be contained inside a low-priority containment cell with a faraday cage surrounding it. Access to SCP-5170 is only allowed to personnel with clearence level 4 or higher. It is currently stored in Site-73.

Description: SCP-5170 is an arcade cabinet of the popular arcade game 'Asteroids' and was found in Durham, North Carolina in 1989. After inserting a quarter, the game puts messages on the screen (See Addendum #2 for more information). These messages range from factoids with varying degrees of confidentiality, from names to much more sensative and confidential information.

It has no microphone however it can understand information about it's current surroundings. From testing, it has been shown to know where it is, personal details about staff and even whereabouts of GOIs and anomalies. It's currently unknown if SCP-5170's functionality can be exploited for the Foundation's benefit. The information it dispenses is usually unhelpful. SCP-5170 also cannot be turned off. It has an internal power source that keeps it running even when unplugged. SCP-5170 frequently threatens to reveal sensitive info if the machine is unplugged.

Addendum #1: Opening up the machine revealed that most of the internal parts are made by Arcadia. According to an analysis of the machine, it's a regular Atari Inc. Asteroids machine that has had parts removed in favor of parts made by Arcadia. These parts are near impossible to remove and are completely stuck inside the machine. The machine has sensors inside it to know when it's been opened or tampered with. After the analysis, it revealed where the two scientists who analyzed it lived. The machine has on occasion threatened to reveal information like O5 Command names and GOI locations.

Addendum #2:

<Begin Log, 11:15 AM>

Dr. Graph: Please approach SCP-5170 with caution.

D-4459: Ok, do I need to put the quarter in it?

Dr. Graph: Yes, please insert the quarter when you hear the sound.

Sound of a buzzer.

D-4459: Do I need to play the game?

Dr. Graph: Yes, please play the game.

<11:22 AM>

Dr. Graph: Do you see any message on the screen?

D-4459: Uh yeah, there's text in the top right corner. It says: "Play for eight more minutes or I'll say Dr. Graph's home address."

Dr. Graph: I'm sorry, excuse me?

D-4459 repeats his statement before he loses the game.

D-4459: I just lost the game, it's showing an address on the screen.

It has been confirmed by Dr. Graph that it's his home address.

<End Log, 11:24 AM>

Closing Statement: Testing has confirmed SCP-5170's ability to possess information about it's current surroundings that it shouldn't understand due to it being an inanimate object with no microphone. More testing of what it is possible of knowing is currently in progress under heavy regulation that no critical information is leaked.

Addendum #3: The following is the results of a sensory test, designed to record the response from SCP-5170 from different stimuli.

TEST #1
Subject D-3677
Protocol D-3677 played the game for approx. 5 minutes before stepping away.
Results SCP-5170 told him to play five more minutes.

TEST #2
Subject Dr. Graph
Protocol Dr. Graph started the game, but didn't play the game.
Results SCP-5170 threatened to reveal the coordinates of SCP-1070. SCP-1070 was created by Arcadia.

TEST #3
Subject Dr. Graph and D-2865
Protocol Dr. Graph put his hand on the power cord of SCP-5170. D-2865 recorded the results.
Results SCP-5170 threatened to reveal the name of O5-3.

Based off of the information shown, SCP-5170 has access to the exact location of other SCPs. Through the exact procedure of starting a game and not touching anything, it threatened to reveal the locations. Through repeated tests of SCP-5170's functionality, by doing nothing like Test #2, it also threatened to reveal the location of other SCPs created by Arcadia. SCP-5170 has been concluded to be a triangulation device for Arcadia relics and anomalies. Current understanding of the device suggests that it's purpose is to point towards where special Arcadia hardware is. The useless information it spits out is a distraction, created to deviate the user from it's purpose.
