Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a modified level 2 break room, with at least 2 armed guards to prevent theft, and 1 researcher to record data and monitor equipment while it is in use. If not in formal testing, access is freely given to those with level 2 security clearance and above, after having read all relevant material and guidelines on file.
After incident XXXX.1BND, SCP-XXXX is no longer allowed to be personally checked out, and used for consecutive viewing for an excessive period of time, this can not be done outside of formal testing.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a black laminated cardboard box with a hinged lid, the surface is reflective, and on top in silver is “Foundation: The Complete Series(?)”, overlaying the Foundation’s symbol outlined in silver. The interior matches the exterior, with wording on the inside of the lid in silver letters, “Produced by DNR Studios, With Approval From O5-22x22”.
Investigations into DNR, have produced no record of any such studio existing, and according to Foundation resources, there is no record or knowledge of an O5-22x22 anywhere.
Minor anomalous properties present themselves when SCP-XXXX is seen/handled, the lettering changing in the eyes of the viewer to a language they understand, and in the case of the blind, into recognizable symbols. Analysis of the materials show nothing extraordinary from what SCP-XXXX is comprised of, though it shows extreme resistance to damage, and will gradually mend itself over a period of time.
SCP-XXXX contains 13 DVD cases, spines facing up when found, the first 5 contain instances of SCP-XXXX-1 through 5, CDs that have black lettering, each labeled “Season 1-5” respectively for each CD. The cases in silver lettering marked as Season 1-5 as well, the remaining 8 are blank and contain nothing within.
Analysis of the cases show no anomalous properties, nor resistance to damage as SCP-XXXX, but cases will mend themselves if placed back within SCP-XXXX. Whenever SCP-XXXX-1 through 5 are placed in a viable playback device, it will being to play an episode of a show called “The Foundation”, or open up a menu if possible, giving a list of options to select from.
Episodes are anywhere from 15-60 minutes long, the format and genre varying, plots standalone and unique so far, though recurring characters is possible, as well as references to previous episodes in passing. What is consistent if possible is that each episode opens with a black screen, issuing a warning in text followed by others with each fading out as they appear, below is a transcription.
*”SCP Warning-The unauthorized reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal. Criminal copyright infringement is investigated by Foundation personnel, including MTF-Kappa-22, and is punishable by termination. -”*1
Fading out and replaced by a version of an “all persons fictitious” disclaimer.
*”The story, all names, characters, and incidents portrayed in this production are fictitious. No identification with actual persons (living, deceased, MIA, or Other), places, buildings, and products is intended or should be inferred. Any special containment procedures depicted used for containing anomalous properties, should not be used against SCPs with similarities to those featured in this production. No animals were harmed in the making of this media, many D-Class personnel were.”*
Fading again, what follows is the episodes title, an SCP item # which is usually featured at some point in the episode, alongside a short phrase or single word, an object class (Safe, Euclid, Keter, Neutralized), and “Produced by DNR Studios”.
The item # is found to be in no relation or matching to any on Foundation records, the short phrase or single word is related to the themes and plot of the episode, the object class denotes how graphic and explicit the content is.
Safe: Features no explicit violence, gore, or anything that could be considered overly offensive.
Euclid: Violence, gore, cussing, and other graphic content may be featured, the use of black censoring bars and bleep censoring are used throughout, alongside other cinematography methods to obscure or avoid graphic displays.
Keter: Counseling is available for those that view Keter class episodes, those that viewed Keter class episodes may be subject to random psych evaluations, use of amnestics and other methods on a case-by-case basis. Forcing Foundation personnel to view Keter class episodes without their consent, is punishable upon investigation.
*Neutralized:** Episodes with this classification are black screens with no discernible movement, sounds, or changes, lasting an hour every time.
The end of every episode features heavily censored credits, listing “DNR Studios” for distribution, production, audio composition, costume design, writing, editing, and nearly every facet of creation. Voice acting, cast, and locations, while similar in many aspects, no direct or exact mirroring or duplication has been found, including from information regarding alternate realities, timelines, and similar.
Once the ending credits have passed, another episode will being to play, and continue until power is lost to the device, or the DVD is ejected.
Addendum.XXXX.1: Incident XXXX.1BND
Dr.(Redacted), after viewing SCP-XXXX-4s content for over a month alone, experienced extreme psychosis and required the use of amnestics, counseling, and was banned from further testing and use of SCP-XXXXs contents. This has not occurred or been replicated in other tests, and after an investigation, no signs of SCP-XXXX having this anomalous effect were found, as a precaution SCP-XXXX and its contents are not allowed to be taken, outside of formal testing.
Addendum.XXXX.2: Seasons
The number on SCP-XXXX-1 through 5, after further testing, relate to a period of time within the Foundation’s history, as well as the common technological level of media, starting from the 1900’s to current time. It is theorized, that the empty DVD cases, will have CDs materialized or produced by anomalous means in the future. Audio and film quality from SCP-XXXX-1, only improve with each new “season”, and following feature new forms of media and styles, as well as those previously seen, all known genres have been featured.
SCP-XXXX-1: “Season 1”, all episodes are in black and white with a grainy texture, silent films frequently occur, or when there is audio, it is limited, live-action and stop-motion media only.
SCP-XXXX-2: “Season 2”, colors is present and is standard, unless an episode uses black and white stylistically, classical animated media is included.
SCP-XXXX-3: “Season 3”, CGI media begins to appear alongside those previously mentioned, episodes requiring the use of 3D glasses begin to appear. (3D glasses will not be provided)
SCP-XXXX-4: “Season 4”, animation, audio, quality, and styles at this point is considered to be on par with the current level of common media throughout the world.
SCP-XXXX-5: “Season 5”, some episodes are able to project themselves holographically within the room it is being played in, generating the sensations, including taste, touch, and feel through anomalous means of the episode. Publicly there is no record of any such media being possible, investigations are ongoing towards those that may have such means to create such media.
Addendum.XXXX.3: Devices and Distribution
SCP-XXXX-1 through 5, while in the shape of CDs, can be played on a number of devices, including older projectors, foreign devices set to only function for media from where they originated, or have permission from where it originated from. The quality still matching the “Season” that is playing, surpassing the abilities of the device, through anomalous means.
The only criteria from testing being it must be powered, having moving parts that can fit the CD in some way when powered. A lack of audio means causes it to play a silent film, audio only causes an episode similar to a radio drama, podcast, and similar to play, a lack of both audio and visual, causes the device to begin to whir, click, or blink if comprised electronics, into a morse code of what an audio-only episode would be.
When put into a computer, an icon will appear on the screen, and automatically a window menu or similar will appear. Closing out and attempting to access the files on the CDs through means other than the icon or menu, have resulted in the computer crashing and shutting down, violently at times (electrical explosions, melting of components, spontaneous disassembly), this includes trying to examine the properties through other programs.
As a result digitally copying or examining it has proven impossible at this time to be done safely, the closest info gained was done by Dr.(Redacted), who managed to glean the amount of data on SCP-XXXX-1.
Through means that have yet to be replicated and has been deemed too hazardous at the time to continue testing, it was found to have pi (π) yottabyes, the doctor managed to do this twice more to confirm the number, the 2nd time coming up as π² yottabytes, and the 3rd π³.
Dr.(Redacted), believed SCP-XXXX-1 to be sentient at this point, and “screwing with him”, attempting to destroy SCP-XXXX-1 in an emotional fit, before being restrained by his assistants and security personnel. Making similar unauthorized attempts later and harshly punished as a result, from his efforts though it was found that SCP-XXXX-1 is impervious to all forms of conventional damage. Further testing on SCP-XXXX-1 through 5, in seeing if destruction is possible, is not allowed at this time.
Recording attempts of episodes while being shown on a device, have resulted in those recordings becoming corrupted or deleted through yet unknown means, attempting to broadcast episodes outside of a closed circuit, resulted in the explosion of multiple screens and receiving systems, causing injuries and chaos, but no fatalities. No further attempts should be made to broadcast or duplicate episodes, transcription by hand is the only known safe method, as the use of automated software and devices to transcribe, resulted in the destruction of each.
Addendum.XXXX.3: Recurring Cast
Exact mirrors or duplicates of characters have yet to be found compared to episodes featured from SCP-XXXX-1 through 5, though a few notable characters have been found to be similar to those within the foundation.
Release of notable listing pending review.
