Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX instances are to be kept in large, walk-in style, reinforced bird cages with toys and grass floor. Instances are not allowed to interact unless authorized. Instances should have seed balls and a real grass and dirt floor provided that is to be replaced when eaten. Shuger cubes are to be limited to 1 a day. SCP-XXXX should not be within smelling distance to meet or other parts of animals that are no longer living and class-D is to enter their cage at least three (3) minutes prior to any staff are allowed entrance. anyone near the containment chamber cannot have any cuts on their skin or any external bleeding. The amount of SCP-XXXX instances are not to exceed forty (40) and are not allowed to interact with corvids, parrots, or any other species of bird considered to have intelligence comparable to mammals, or birds of prey. Instances that contain bird of pray parts are to be terminated on site. Facility Guards should be equipped with high-spread combat shotguns and neck protection.In the event that an instance breaches containment or enters a rage state, they are to be terminated immediately.

Description: SCP-XXXX instances have bird body, wings, and legs, however, their entire front has been replaced with a horse mouth. The species of bird depends on the parents, most commonly finches and tits common to the British Isles, the species of Equus exhibited in the mouth is usually Equus Caballus (common horse) but includes both tame and wild species of horses, ponies, donkeys, and zebra. There was a report of a falcon-rhino instance that was terminated and burnt in initial containment/termination of all SCP-XXXX instances in [REDACTED] Yorkshire England.

SCP-XXXX instances tend to be non-aggressive, sometimes approaching and smelling humans, as well as socializing normally with other birds when properly feed and not exposed to meat or blood but should still be treated cautiously. On exposure to meat or blood, or if not given adequate food for approximately 3 days, SCP-XXXX instances will enter a rage state. In this rage state, the instance will become carnivorous and will have an enhanced sense of smell, faster flight, and will be able to bite through half (1/2) inch structural steel. The rage if the instance eats 2 days worth of bird feed and grass, which is not a recommended procedure due to instance almost always showing a preference for eating meat or for escaping containment.

Instances are capable of both bird and horse sound, both being similar to the 2 species it exhibits traits of. Notable examples include cockerel-stallions who produce a loud "cock-a-doodle-doo" followed by "whinnies" in the morning and lovebird-donkeys who produce a duet followed by "hee-haw" which have been remarked as "the single most disgusting sound of lovemaking I have ever had the displeasure of listening to"

Test 1A

Subject: SCP-XXXX-14. An instance of SCP-XXXX that was captured during initial containment. The subject is Male of the species Parus Major / Equus caballus.
Procedure: Attempted to kill subject by poisoned bird feed for dissection.
Results: Failure. subject showed very low health but recovered within a day.
Analysis: Unknown reason for failure.

Test 1B

Subject: SCP-XXXX-07. An instance of SCP-XXXX that was captured during initial containment. The subject is Female of the species Carduelis Carduelis / Equus caballus.
Procedure: Subject killed by poisoned bird feed for dissection. A more potent poison was used that could be absorbed through the skin.
Results: Subject was quickly killed by the poison. dissection revealed that there were no major internal organs other than the spine, muscle, and reproductive organs. in there place is the inside of a horse's mouth which is stopped by skin at the base of the subject. inside the mouth, there were remains of partially digested grass and seeds but not as much as the subject has been recently fed. Saliva has been tested and closely resembles horse saliva, but able to partially digest seeds quicker. The skin around the inside of the mouth shows no more absorbent qualities than horse skin. No tissues exhibit a higher metabolic rate than would be expected.
Analysis: Unknown where excess food goes but theorized to be connected to the reason for the failure of Test 1A.

Initial Containment

Foundation Action: MTF-██ team assigned to contain thirty-five (35)specimens of SCP-XXXX via traps and dart guns and then terminate remaining instances by burning the woodland they are found in. Cover Story for the fire was prepared as a campfire gone out of control.
Results: Containment went smoothly, however, the target number of thirty-five (35) could not be met within the deadline and MTF-██ settled for thirty-two (32). The situation escalated quickly when termination began. Five (5) MTF-██ agents were equipped with M9-7 flamethrowers and instructed to burn down the woodland. The fire spread to the remaining instances causing them to burn as expected. Its suspected that this caused the start of a rage state in all remaining instances who homed in on the MTF team who established a defensive perimeter. 3 MTF agents were terminated by enraged instances and the mission was declared a success.
