Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX does not pose a threat on its own, so a 1'x6''x6'' locked box will be sufficient. However, ONLY Level 3 or greater personnel may have access after the incident on 06/██/20██. Any further testing must have cameras on all angles, at least one guard with appropriate equipment, and in a contained room.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a size 12'', soft, black, nylon sock. It also has a faded brand named ████ Clothing, dated 19██. The company has no known facilities or owners. No effect is emitted to influence others to wear or interact with SCP-XXXX.

When a human stretches SCP-XXXX over their head, the wearer can transform into any-one sentient life form the wearer has seen or thought of. The limits to what SCP-XXXX can transform into include (see experiment reports for more detail): the wearer is unable to comprehend what it is transforming into or is inanimate. Once the wearer stops thinking about the transformation, SCP-XXXX enlarges and encapsulates the wearer like a cacoon. Then, SCP-XXXX will harden to the strength of steel (5 to 6.5 on the Mohs Hardness Scale) and begins to metamorphose the wear into the life form thought of. SCP-XXXX will expand to the size needed to finish the transformation, the maximum size is unknown. The larger the life form, the longer the cocoon state lasts; the average time for minor changes is ten (10) minutes. Once completed, the cocoon will crack, flake off, and dissolve into the air. The transformation will be an exact physical copy of a life form observed or an interpreted version of a life form from the details focused on. SCP-XXXX can even metamorphose clothing and can create complicated items like guns from the items the wearer has on their person into what they are transforming into. However, complicated items will not function properly and any removal of material, which has been inside the cocoon, will dissolve in the air immediately. This will also cause the wearer to deny any existence of the item that dissolved. Upon completion of the transformation, the wearer will be given new memories of a life as if they were the life form they transformed into; thus creating a new life form with fake memories. These memories will replace the wearer's original memories and cause the wearer to forget about SCP-XXXX. If the wearer is to die while transformed, their body will dissolve and SCP-XXXX will remain (undamaged and in its original shape/size).

Experiment Logs:

Test A - Date: 01/██/19██

Subject: To understand the extent of the memory change.
Procedure: One (1) Class D personnel is given a detailed description of an army general. This includes the physical appearance of a blond, male, flat head, bulky nose, light skin, blue eyes, strong build, five (5) foot exact, and six (6) freckles. Then SCP-XXXX is placed over their head. After the transformation, questions about the new memories and original memories will be asked.
Results: The Class D personnel transformed from a skinny, six (6) foot, tan skinned female into the exact appearance of the general, and their outfit turned camo green with a rifle on their back. The transformation took twelve (12) minutes. When asked about their memories, the now general said he was born in the state of ██████ and he was in the middle of the ███████ War. The general said he grew up with two sisters on a farm, which he used to hide their ████ dolls under a tree root. The general went on and could recall specific details of his past. When asked if the general heard the name [REDACTED], he had no clue. Even when shown a picture, the general denied all knowledge of the Class C personnel. When describing that █████ grew up an orphan in the city, the general's back story was completely different from the wearer's. Then when asked to inspect the rifle, it dissolved into the air as soon as the general lost contact. When asked what happened, the general had no clue about the rifle even existing.
Analysis: It is confirmed SCP-XXXX can transform into someone fabricated by the mind and even gives them a fake backstory. It also important to note how the wearer's identity is completely lost after the transformation. Any material which leaves SCP-XXXX after transformation will dissolve and the wearer will forget about its existence.

Test B - Date: 01/██/19██

Subject: To examine the effects of transforming into an existing person.
Procedure: Two (2) Class D personnel are to face each other. Class D - 2 is forbidden to speak until after the transformation. Class D - 1 will put on SCP-XXXX and transform into Class D - 2. Then questions will be asked about the memories of both Class D - 2 and Class D - 1 while transformed.
Results: After Class D - 1 transformed, no changes occurred to Class D - 2. Class D - 1 was scared of Class D - 2, when told about SCP-XXXX Class D - 1 did not know what it was. Class D - 1 displayed tattoos in the same spot as Class D - 2 and the identity number on the back of their shirt matched Class D - 2's. Class D - 1 was asked about his childhood, Class D - 1 responded: "I was a smart kid, but my father had a worse drinking problem. He would beat the knowledge out of me. Until he threw a bottle of beer at me and it hit the chimney instead. He died in the fire." Class D - 2 responds: "My family did die in a fire, but I was the one who started it. I was a troubled teen who was smoking in my room. He knows nothing about me, the voice is off too, even though he has my body." With inspection of the two (2) participant bodies, any markings unknown to the wearer will not appear and an alternate marking will replace it.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX will not affect someone it is copying. SCP-XXXX can create a physical copy of someone who exists, but it cannot copy someone's memories or voice or markings the wearer has not observed. Memories are also fabricated from the wearer's subconscious judgments about the life form it transforms into. SCP-XXXX also will refuse to understand what SCP-XXXX is.

Test C - Date: 012/██/19██

Subject: To understand what SCP-XXXX can transform into.
Procedure: Three (3) Six (6) Class D personnel will be instructed separately, one after the next. Then they will systematically test SCP-XXXX's transforming ability. The order will consist of inanimate objects and sentient objects, a plant, a TV cartoon character (), an animal (dog), a humanoid ("alien"/"E.T."), "myself", and "someone else".
Results:

  • Inanimate Object = no transformation from inanimate, but could turn into a living chair (composed of wood, could bleed, talk, and move)
  • Plant = no transformation
  • TV Cartoon Character = transformed into realistic interpretation of character
  • Animal = transformed into a dog and could only bark
  • Humanoid = no transformation from "alien", but transformation for the character E.T.
  • Myself = no physical transformation, memory of SCP-XXXX was gone
  • Someone else = no transformation
  • A Freeman = no physical transformation, memory of SCP-XXXX was gone, the participator was convinced their prison sentence was over

Analysis: SCP-XXXX can transform into anything, but it must be alive and sentient. In addition, general terms not understood by the wearer will not activate SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX can change memories and personalities, but cannot affect the world outside the transformation.

Test D - Date: 04/██/19██

Subject: To test SCP-714 with SCP-XXXX
Procedure: One (1) Class D personnel is to transform into a Level 1 Researcher. They will be questioned and then instructed to put on SCP-714.
Results: The Class D personnel transformed and had the knowledge of an Atomic Physicist. After some questions about their memory, they had more knowledge than the Level 1 personnel. Next, the Class D personnel put on SCP-714. The Class D personnel felt exhausted, but started having a headache. When asked about SCP-XXXX, the Class D personnel knew what it looked like. The Class D personnel had flashbacks of their original memories.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX has a memetic effect on the wearer's memory and SCP-714 is strong enough to waver it. SCP-XXXX can also form accurate memories and knowledge above the wearer's capabilities.

Test E - Date: 05/██/19██

Subject: To determine if SCP-XXXX can copy memetic abilities
Procedure: One (1) Class D personnel will use SCP-XXXX to copy SCP-1867, after the Class D personnel has read SCP-1867 file and interacted with SCP-1867. Then questions about their memory will be asked which will indicate if the Class D personnel can use SCP-1867's memetic telepathy.
Results: The Class D personnel successfully transformed physically into SCP-1867. However, the Class D personnel could use telepathy like SCP-1867. The personality, voice, and memory are almost perfectly mirrored SCP-1867's description.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX can transform into another living anomaly and can use memetic effects of the anomaly.

Test F - Date: 02/██/20██

Subject: To find the toughness of the cocoon state and the effect if interrupted
Procedure: One (1) Class D personnel will use SCP-XXXX to copy a Level 1 Researcher. During cocoon state, a team will attempt to break the cocoon.
Results: Bullets were reflected and fire had no effect, however a maintenance saw for cutting metal worked on the cocoon. Its contents spilled out and dissolved. The contents include: an unidentified liquid, a body which was disfigured to the point of nonrecognition, and blood.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX is vulnerable when in its cocoon state, however all attempts to damage SCP-XXXX when not in a cocoon state have led to no results.

Incident XXXX:

Date: 06/██/20██
Report: A Level 2 Researcher, named Dr. [REDACTED], accessed SCP-XXXX at 0800 on 06/██/20██. They used SCP-XXXX to transform into a member of the MTF [REDACTED]. They wore full armor, had a Level 5 key card, and what looked like an FN P90. At 1030, Dr. [REDACTED] was confronted by the MTF Leader in a restricted area. Dr. [REDACTED] proceeded to knock the leader unconscious and began to sprint down the nearest hallway. At 1045, a platoon of MTF members surrounds Dr. [REDACTED] and fires at him. One shot knocks their helmet off and it dissolves, revealing it was Dr. [REDACTED] who was in disguise. Dr. [REDACTED] tries to fire his weapon, but the bullets immediately disappear after leaving the barrel. The shooting resumes, however, the bullets do not penetrate Dr. [REDACTED]'s skin. Dr. [REDACTED] then charges the MTF and with extreme force crushes them against the cement walls. 1100, Dr. [REDACTED] has almost made his way out of the facility. At 1130, Dr. [REDACTED] was cornered and forced to inhale [REDACTED] or knockout gas. Dr. [REDACTED] was then transported into a sealed chamber. It turns out Dr. [REDACTED] used SCP-XXXX to try and escape the facility to expose the agency. After explosions, acids, and fire did not work, suffocation worked.
