Figure 1.1: An old photo of SCP-XXXX in its 'dormant' state.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Due to its highly dangerous nature, SCP-XXXX must be contained in Reinforced Sea Creature Containment Chamber C in Research Sector 1 in Site 11-8.
If it is necessary for SCP-XXXX to be moved, it must be restrained using a Class V Modified Aquatic Containment Tank, and its helmet's windows must be sealed up with industrial-strength sealing tape to prevent it from breaking out from confinement.
Only Gamma-6 Agents are allowed to open SCP-XXXX's chamber. Should agents receive permission to move SCP-XXXX to other sites, the water in its chamber must first be drained out, and agents must then subsequently wait for 30 minutes 1 hour before they are permitted to approach it. The windows of SCP-XXXX's helmet must be blacked out and sealed to deter any signs of hostility.
In the event that SCP-XXXX escapes the containment chamber, all personnel in the site must activate Protocol Omega Apollyon and close off all potential water sources and exits that SCP-XXXX could potentially use to leave the facility premises. follow the instructions provided at the bottom of the file.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an aquatic humanoid entity, measuring 1.75 m in height. The outfit that SCP-XXXX wears is an early 20th century standard diving suit, with a full helmet and breastplate dating back to the early 1950s.
In its 'dormant' state, SCP-XXXX easily resembles a human diver. However, in its 'active' state, SCP-XXXX is able to open the 5 'windows' on its helmet, all of which conceal a fully functional mouth lined with 0.5 m incisors, and two, approximately 3 m long gelatinous tentacles located at the edges of SCP-XXXX's mouths. Foundation researchers have found that SCP-XXXX's tentacles possess incredibly large strength and speed capable of cracking solid concrete and dismembering a human being. (See Experiment Log 1)
From previous documents recovered by the Foundation, (See Addendum XXXX-1) SCP-XXXX has been revealed to be responsible for the disappearances of multiple ships and civilians in the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean over the 19th and the 20th century, allowing it to be classified as a hostile threat. However, despite the high prevalence of documentations, Foundation historians are unable to form a solid conclusion as to SCP-XXXX's origins.
Experiments have revealed that SCP-XXXX is highly mobile in water environments and mobile in dry climates for short periods of time (See Experiment Log 2) Following the conclusion of Experiment Log 4, SCP-XXXX is now highly mobile in both water and land environments for an indeterminable amount of time, and is also unharmed by bullets. As of ████, researchers are unsure as to how SCP-XXXX can be neutralised effectively.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX was first discovered approximately 2 nautical miles off the coast of ████, ██████ in the Pacific Ocean in 19████. The Gamma-6 Mobile Task Force conducted an thorough investigation of the agents after numerous disappearances of civilian ships were reported in the area and the survivors all described a 'diver' that rose out of the ocean and that had destroyed the ships. As the agents combed the area, SCP-XXXX appeared and attacked the agents. Eventually, SCP-XXXX was subdued by the agents after slowing itself down on the dry land, and was subsequently brought to Site 11-8 for further research.
Addendum XXXX-1: Documents regarding SCP-XXXX
Document 1: An extract from an old sea shanty song that references SCP-XXXX
Oh, poor Billy.
Oh, poor Billy.
What will he do?
What will he do?
The monster has climbed aboard the stern.
The monster has cli-i-imbed aboard the stern.
And its long arms will reach Billy.
Yes, its long arms will reach Billy.
And Billy will die on the deck.
And Billy will die on the deck.
And Billy will di-i-ie on the deck.
Document 2: An extract from "The Beast of the Sea' by Sir Robert Calligan regarding his experience with SCP-XXXX
I could not believe my eyes. The beast, the one that had killed my friends, was right in front of me. I could see its tentacles swaying in the wind, seemingly to test my bravery. I could not speak. I was too afraid. It just stood there, standing. I didn't move from my hiding spot, as I knew that if I made the slightest noise, it would know where I was, and I would be dead.
Document 3: An extract from "The most mysterious shipwrecks in the 19th century" by Kent Hartfeld that references SCP-XXXX
An enclosed photo of the blood-stained shirt the Endeavour survivor showed to me.
So, what had happened on the Endeavour, the most expensive ship built in its time, and what had caused it to sink?
A survivor of the Endeavour's sinking tells me that it was a 'tentacle-faced diver' that had climbed aboard the ship during the Great Storm, and began to massacre the occupants onboard. "When it first climbed on board, we assumed that it was a lost diver, even if its diving suit was a bit dated. We were all crowding around it, and then we saw the diving helmet's windows open, and then we saw those…tentacles pop out. It was all a blur after that. I got hit in the head by something hard, so I couldn't see what it did. All I heard was the screaming. When I finally came to, I was trapped in a locker. Someone must have put me in there, since I didn't remember entering a locker. The monster was gone, the whole ship was sinking, and………and my clothes were all stained in blood."
The interviewed survivor then proceeded to show me his old shirt that he claimed he wore during the attack, and I was very disturbed to find that there was indeed blood on them. I then asked him if he could draw a sketch of the monster that he saw, but he appeared to be too shaken up to listen to me any more. With that, I ended the interview.
Addendum XXXX-2: May 28 Incident
Incident Details:
On May 28, ████, Gamma-6 Agent Dave Frosco opened SCP-XXXX's tank to prepare it for its temporary relocation after a crack was discovered in the chamber. However, Agent Frosco entered the chamber after 30 minutes had passed, when SCP-XXXX was still mostly active, to attempt to secure it. As he neared SCP-XXXX, it viciously killed him and devoured him in the span of a few seconds before more agents could intervene. Subsequently, all other Gamma-6 agents were advised not to enter SCP-XXXX's chamber until an hour had passed to ensure that the incident didn't occur again.
Addendum XXXX-3: SCP-XXXX Experiment Logs
Experiment Log 1:
Objective: To test the strength of SCP-XXXX's tentacles.
Procedure: Two test dummies (One made of ordinary plastic, one made of concrete) were dropped into the tank, one at a time.
Results: SCP-XXXX swam up to both of them and decapitated both of them with its tentacles in under 10 seconds. It then proceeded to devour both dummies whole, and the experiment was concluded.
Experiment Log 2:
Objective: To test SCP-XXXX's mobility in dry climates.
Procedure: The water in SCP-XXXX's chamber was drained out.
Results: After around 30 minutes, SCP-XXXX finally began to move slower, and its tentacles' response time was noted to be much slower at 5 seconds. After one hour, SCP-XXXX's movements were reduced to a crawl. The test was concluded soon after.
Experiment Log 3:
Objective: To test SCP-XXXX's responses to ██████.
Procedure: SCP-XXXX was ██████ and its behavioural responses were recorded.
Results: SCP-XXXX automatically began to ██████ and violently ██████ out of its diving suit. Subsequent attempts to calm SCP-XXXX down were unsuccessful.
Test addendum: As of ██████, all agents and researchers in Site 11-8 are required to wear Foundation-issued SCP Protective Defense Suits. SCP-XXXX's chamber must be continually repaired every 2 hours hour, and all audio and video recordings of SCP-XXXX Experiment Log 3 must be destroyed.
Experiment Log 4:
Objective: To test SCP-XXXX's mobility in dry climates following the conclusion of Experiment 3.
Procedure: The water in SCP-XXXX's chamber was drained out for 72 hours.
Results: For the entire duration of the experiment, SCP-XXXX remained highly active and showed no indication of slowing down.
Test addendum: All records of Experiment Log 2 will be removed from the database and replaced with Experiment Log 4.

Subject: I NEED YOUR HELP
I need your help. Diver is becoming more restless and active as it continues to be confined in the Site. The researchers and agents are trying to prevent it from breaking out every hour now by continually resealing its chamber, and they are getting exhausted. I've tried to drain the water out from Diver's chamber, but it's not working. It just keeps trying to break out.
I'm unsure if we have the neccessary manpower to restrain Diver if it breaks confinement again. This is why I'm asking you for help. You must issue a notice to warn all agents in all sites to be on guard for Diver if it breaks confinement again. All civilians must also be moved away to prevent Diver from reaching them. All agents must be assigned the task of restraining or neutralising Diver if it gets too close to their assigned Sites.
I hope that you can help me.

NOTICE FOR ALL AGENTS IN ALL SITES:
SCP-XXXX has been growing too erratic and active in Site 11-8 as of ████, and has been classified as a very dangerous threat to the Foundation. All personnel must take note of the following change in instructions in the event that SCP-XXXX escapes:
1. In the event that SCP-XXXX escapes, agents must activate the Apollyon Protocol.
2. Agents must immediately seal off all exits and all possible openings in all Sites and maintain communication with the nearest Site.
3. Agents must equip themselves with Mk V SCP Defense Weapons.
4. All Site Supervisors, Class A personnel and O5 Council Members must be moved to the SCP Protection Bunkers.
5. An Emergency Alert Broadcast must be sent out to all civilian-populated areas, and all civilians must be safely evacuated to the SCP Civilian Protection Bunkers (Disguised as ordinary bomb shelters).
For agents working in Site 11-8, they must use their resources and manpower to neutralise SCP-XXXX if it breaks containment and ensure that it cannot leave the Site.
Reminder: All agents are required to assist in the complete neutralisation of SCP-XXXX in the event that it escapes. Any agents refusing to assist in the neutralisation will be terminated.
THE FOUNDATION THANKS YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION. REMEMBER, WE WILL ALL GET THROUGH THIS TOGETHER.
