SCP-XXXX (The Dreamcatcher)
rating: 0+x

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in an Anomalous Object Containment Chamber in Site-28. The Chamber must always be closely guarded by one Class-C Armed Personnel to ensure that no other personnel use SCP-XXXX without first receiving prior permission and approval from Dr. Reese Blackwell. (An approval form template is provided in Addendum XXXX-1)

SCP-XXXX is not to be used by civilians, or any test participants with prior mental conditions1.

While researchers are still unsure as to the probability of SCP-XXXX or SCP-XXXX-1 being a threat to civilians or the Foundation, SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX test participants must be kept under constant surveillance.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a standard single four-poster bed with a red cushion and mattress laid on it. The wooden carvings on SCP-XXXX2 put SCP-XXXX's presumed creation date to be in the late ████s. However, SCP-XXXX's origin is still unable to be recovered by SCP Historians.

The red cushion and mattress on SCP-XXXX cannot be removed, replaced or destroyed in any known way3.

Any subject that lies on SCP-XXXX will immediately enter into an REM sleep cycle. In this state, they are unable to be awoken and cannot be removed from SCP-XXXX until approximately 8 hours have passed, and the subject wakes up by their own accord.

If the subject successfully wakes up, they will claim that once they had laid on SCP-XXXX, they dreamt about a tall, black, featureless being named 'The Night Watcher' (Subsequently classified as SCP-XXXX-1). Depending on the subject's background, each of their dreams involving SCP-XXXX-1 will follow a different interaction with a different outcome. (See Test Subject Logs)

Subjects who have used SCP-XXXX and have not died from its use will shortly after develop a strong phobia for sleeping entirely, and will actively try to keep themselves awake. In this case, researchers must use any method available at hand to force the subjects to sleep to prevent them from succumbing to sleep deprivation.

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was first discovered in the charred ruins of a house formerly owned by Mr. ████ ████, on ████ Drive in ████, Romania. Epsilon-6 task force agents were sent to collect SCP-XXXX after it was reported that it remained the only unscathed object in the house after the house was burnt down in ████. As the agents collected SCP-XXXX, they recovered a note in the house premises that researchers presume to be about SCP-XXXX-1. (See Addendum XXXX-2)
