Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe Euclid1

Special Containment Procedures: A 500 m2 wide 'safe' zone must be designated for SCP-XXXX. All accessible civilian routes to SCP-XXXX must be rerouted or restricted using the cover story of government-restricted areas. In the event that a civilian or a group of civilians enter SCP-XXXX, all personnel must hide their involvement under the cover story of a vanishing mystery.

A temporary mobile site (Designated as Site 11-8B) designed to research SCP-XXXX has been set up approximately 50 km away from the 'safe' zone boundary. All task force agents embarking on expeditions to SCP-XXXX must be able to know and correctly locate Site 11-8B on the map provided in the Aquatic Research Vessel.

Expeditions to SCP-XXXX must be frequently carried out in order for the Foundation to gain enough information about its occurence and effect on humans. All personnel who embark on SCP-XXXX expeditions must be in top physical and mental form before they are able to participate in the expedition, to prevent any unneccessary deaths during the course of the expedition. Following the events of the third expedition, all SCP-XXXX expeditions are put on temporary hold.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the SCP designation assigned to a 250 m2 wide zone located in the Pacific Ocean and situated approximately 2,668 km from the nearest landmass, with the given name of 'Point Nemo', or 'The Dead Zone'.

SCP-XXXX is the farthest oceanic point from any landmass on the planet of Earth, and is confirmed to contain no lifeforms natural to Earth's biology. However, from the results of the third expedition, it has been confirmed that SCP-XXXX contains a possible anomalous entity not belonging to any natural species on Earth. While the exact details regarding the entity have yet to be uncovered, its presence inside SCP-XXXX suggest a possible link between it and the effects of SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX has been confirmed to contain an electromagnetic field that interferes with all electronics that enter the zone, rendering all communication from inside SCP-XXXX unavailable for recording, and effectively forcing personnel to strictly use analog and non-electronic equipment once inside SCP-XXXX.

Once a human enters SCP-XXXX itself, they are subjected to a number of mental and physical effects, including but not limited to nausea, migraines, dizziness, nosebleeds, blurry vision, tinnitus, loss of consciousness, short-term memory loss, long-term memory loss, hallucinations and, in extreme cases, death.

After an individual spends an extended period of time inside SCP-XXXX, they will begin to hallucinate a landmass in the far distance which they claim is named 'R'lyeh'. Despite any attempts to get closer to the landmass, individuals are unable to reach the shores of 'R'lyeh', confirming its existence as a hallucination inside SCP-XXXX.

While the true nature of SCP-XXXX has not been uncovered, its unpredictable nature and ability to affect humans have led to its classification as a threat to civilians.
