Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the large nature of SCP-XXXX, Site 406 has been constructed to study it. A small staff of Researchers, Security Forces, and D-Class personnel live on site. Security personnel are to be armed with non-lethals and patrol the facility to monitor for anomalies at all times. Lethal weapons are to be kept locked up on site in case of a severe anomalous event. 360 degree video cameras are to be placed throughout the facility. Cameras are to be checked daily for tampering. All video footage and reports are to immediately be sent offsite for storage and review.

Because stories of SCP-XXXX have become part of the local folklore, extra precautions have been taken to keep trespassers out. A 3-meter fence has been erected around the perimeter of Site 406, which is to be patrolled 24 hours. Stories of SCP-XXXX are not to be actively suppressed, however, extreme caution should be exercised to prevent word of our work here from getting out. In the event of a breach, the use of a class 3 amnesic is permitted under the supervision of site management.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an approximately 500 acre ranch located in a valley near ████, Utah. It is known to the locals as “Skinwalker Ranch” and has been the focal point of numerous stories for over 50 years. SCP-XXXX plays host to a staggering variety of anomalies, ranging from safe to dangerous to weird. The foundation acquired the ranch in 20██ under the guise of the ██████ Corporation, supposedly to herd cattle. A small herd of cattle is kept on site to keep up the illusion. This has also proven useful due to the fact that the cattle seem to attract anomalous activity, making it easier to study.

It is unclear when these anomalous events first began to occur. The first instances on record come from a rancher named ██████, who purchased the ranch in 19██. The first reported sighting was of SCP-XXXX-1, which attempted to kill a calf just outside of the ranch house with no regard for the multiple witnesses watching. When the rancher fired at it with his rifle it was entirely unaffected, subsequently dragging the calf into the woods where it disappeared.

Interestingly, there may be a connection between SCP-XXXX and SCP-2750, known to natives of the American Southwest as "Skinwalkers". This connection may be only surface level due to the shared name, however, the natives of the region claim that Skinwalkers live in the valley that houses Skinwalker Ranch. This hints at instances of SCP-XXXX-1 appearing in the area for much longer than originally thought.

List of Anomalies:

SCP-XXXX-1: A roughly 2 meter long, 1.5 meter tall wolf, black in color, with eyes that glow a dull red. While it may appear threatening, no instance of SCP-XXXX-1 has shown any sign of malicious intent toward humans. Rather, it regards them with seeming curiosity and intelligence. No attempt to capture one has been successful yet, as it may disappear when you lose direct line of sight with it.

UPDATE: Researchers are no longer to attempt to capture instances of SCP-XXXX-1 until further notice. Security personnel are not to interact with any instances of SCP-XXXX-1. D-Class personnel are to be kept away from instances of SCP-XXXX-1. For more information, see Incident Report 7.1

SCP-XXXX-2: A ball of blinding light, ranging from .5 to 1 meter in diameter that is described to look like an arc welder. SCP-XXXX-2 appears to emit low levels of gamma radiation. As a result, instances of this anomaly are not to be approached, viewed, or studied without class 3 radiation protective equipment.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are most frequently sighted in the woods hovering at a height of approximately 4 meters and for up to an hour before vanishing. This anomaly is almost exclusively seen at night, and is known to float around the ranch.

SCP-XXXX-3: A small, black, equilateral triangle shaped craft resembling a drone. Each side is exactly 73 centimeters in length and is 2.5 centimeters thick at the edges, tapering to 6 centimeters thick in the middle. SCP-XXXX-3 is known to fly out of instances of SCP-XXXX-4. The anomaly exhibits non-ballistic motion and is known to reach speeds of up to 20 meters per second. If it comes within ██ meters of any electronic device, any information saved on it will be wiped, and in some cases the electronics are completely destroyed. This appears to be due to an EMP like effect.

A single instance of SCP-XXXX-3 was captured and transported off-site for research. The whole time it was held on-site it continued to attempt to fly until it was ██ meters outside the perimeter of Site 406. It remains inactive at Site ██, where any attempts to study or dismantle it have been unsuccessful. Not so much as a scratch has been made to the exterior.

SCP-XXXX-4: A circular opening or aperture of varying sizes in the sky that appears to be some sort of portal. The sky seen through SCP-XXXX-4 often does not match the night sky around it. I.E. daytime sky is seen at night, or the night sky is seen during the day. Interestingly, the stars seen through the "portal" do not match the stars that would normally be seen in that patch of sky.

It is theorized that SCP-XXXX-1 may appear and disappear through instances of SCP-XXXX-4, as SCP-XXXX-3 is known to, however this has never been observed. Any video recording devices inserted into a "portal" are destroyed in the same way SCP-XXXX-3 is known to.

UPDATE: A site researcher encountered an instance of SCP-XXXX-4 and communicated with an unknown entity, presumably on the other side. He was carrying a handheld recording device and was able to get a clear recording of the ensuing conversation. All site personnel are now to carry personal recording devices in case of a similar opportunity. For a transcript, see Incident Report 52

SCP-XXXX-5: Referred to as a "neuro-electrical entity". Appears as a cloud of thick black smoke or fog. Typically it forms into a roughly humanoid shape, but also appears as an amorphous cloud. On rare occasions, tendrils of fog will appear reaching out of SCP-XXXX-5. The fog has been observed to be filled with electrical impulses, similar to what is observed with firing neurons. The composition of the fog is unknown.

SCP-XXXX-5 induces a state of mental delirium when approached within 3 meters, accompanied by tingling or other strange sensations in various parts of the body. Some personnel report experiencing "Phantom Limb Syndrome", despite not having missing limbs. To prevent this, any personnel approaching SCP-XXXX-5 are to wear Faraday suits. Research into the nature of SCP-XXXX-5 has been inconclusive.

UPDATE: On 7/13/20██ the D-Class personnel that disappeared with an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 in Incident 7 has re-appeared, three months after he disappeared. His was discovered by a member of the security personnel when an instance of SCP-XXXX-4 opened up and he fell out of it. He was immediately taken to building 406-2 for analysis. No physical abnormalities were observed, however he seemed malnourished. After a thorough examination, he was interviewed by Dr. Woods-Powell. The following is a transcript of the interview;

Interviewed: D-Class 024

Interviewer: Dr. Woods-Powell

Foreword: Interviewee appeared on edge and slightly deranged. Throughout the interview he remained looking upward and never made eye contact. In hindsight, it seemed like he was looking for something.
