Special Containment Procedures: Although the Brazilian government has refused to relinquish the building containing SCP-5451, it has allowed the Foundation exclusive access to SCP-5451. Testing may be conducted with the approval of Dr Sarah Toksvig.
Due to the extreme wealth of SCP-5451's original owner, Mobile Task Force Mu-3 "Highest Bidders" has been granted permission to investigate its origins for a possible connection to GOI Marshall, Carter, and Dark. A search is underway for SCP-5451's construction crew.
Description: SCP-5451 is a penthouse apartment located in the Bauer Tower, in the Amazonas state of Brazil. The Bauer Tower was constructed in 2081 by prominent oil executive and entrepreneur Marcelo Bauer, who was SCP-5451’s sole occupant while the Bauer Tower operated entirely by civilians. In 2095, Marcelo Bauer was arrested and all of his assets were seized by the International Climate Accountability Council. SCP-5451 passed into the hands of the Brazilian government, who discovered its anomalous effect and alerted the Foundation.
Despite existing in the Central Business District of New Lisbon, the view from SCP-5451’s windows and balcony are of a seemingly-endless, healthy, broadleaf rainforest. Archival evidence suggests this rainforest to be identical to the patch of the Amazon rainforest that was razed to build the Bauer Tower.
Testing with photographic equipment has shown SCP-5451’s effect to be a genuine (if anomalous) optical illusion. An exploration team (MTF Eta-6 “Forest Rangers”) who abseiled down the Bauer Tower from SCP-5451’s balcony found themselves standing out the Tower’s location in New Lisbon.
Interview:
The Foundation was unable to take Marcelo Bauer into custody, as he was being detained for an extensive list of environmental and financial crimes. The International Climate Accountability Council granted the Foundation a single interview with Bauer on December 11th, 2095.

Bauer: What do you want?
Interviewer: I’d like to ask you a few questions about your penthouse. Specifically, your penthouse in Bauer Tower.
Bauer: My penthouse? You’ve taken my penthouse. You’ve taken everything I had from me. I don’t have to do anything for you.
Interviewer: We just want to know more about the… unusual view from its windows and balcony.
Bauer bursts into laughter.
Bauer: Oh, I see. I see. They warned me people like you might come sniffing. You’re not on my ass for burning half the planet and flooding the rest. You’re just interested in the pretty illusions! Literal window dressing! That’s almost adorable.
Interviewer: Who exactly is “they”?
Bauer: No. I’m not going to tell you. They’re going to hang me or guillotine me or whatever they feel like no matter what I do. So, I won’t tell you how the illusions were made or who I hired to craft them. But I’ll happily tell you why.
In days gone past, big game hunters would hang the heads of what they killed on their walls. They could look up from their breakfast, gaze at the heads and think “I killed that”. Now, I’m no outdoorsman, and all the big game are extinct. But I did get a kick out of gazing at the mightiest rainforest humanity ever encountered and thinking “I killed that”.
