Promotional image of SCP-2308-78 taken from an unreleased Argo catalogue
Item #: SCP-2308-78
Object Class: Safe Thaumiel
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-2308-78 is currently the daily driving vehicle of ██████ ███ █████ and is the only personnel authorized to drive and care for the vehicle due to their extensive history in automotive study and engineering. This protocol was put into effect by Staff Sgt. █████. In the event that ██████ is involved in an accident, SCP 2308-78 is to be destroyed to prevent redistribution of parts. The purpose of allowing ██████ ███ █████ to use the vehicle is to study material wear and the other adverse effects on and of SCP-2308-78, and is not for recreational use.
Any personnel discovered to operate SCP-2308-78 without explicit clearance will be terminated without review.
Description: SCP-2308-78 is a vehicle that was made by Argo Automotives and their Temporal Self-Investment Loop and is part of the larger SCP-2308. It seems to resemble a modern (date of report: ████) Porsche Carrera in overall body shape, but uses advanced (for the time period of manufacture) materials, electronics, and building techniques currently under investigation. The overall road and track performance of the vehicle is also an order of magnitude better than modern vehicles are capable of.
Aside from its futuristic construction and inexplicable speed and handling, SCP-2308-78 has an adverse effect on the cognition of individuals in law enforcement. See Operator Log Theta-23B:
In addition to this effect, light damage to the vehicle exterior has been observed to "self heal", often fading back to its original, undamaged state after a period of two weeks. Removal of the driver's side door panel revealed that this is not caused by the advanced materials the vehicle is made out of. This only seems to occur with non-thermal damage. Using a welder, blowtorch, or other thermal tools will permanently damage the body of the vehicle. See Log Theta-60C:
Addendum: According to records at Argo, the vehicle was made in several different versions: street, track, and Dry Track Only (DTO). The model SCP-2308-78 represents appears to be the "track" version, however, Argo sales records indicate there are still several models owned by private collectors. The Foundation has attempted to reach out to these individuals and has not received any response thus far.
The top tested speed of SCP-2308-78 is around 500 KM/h, which given the tested aerodynamic properties of the vehicle, should be impossible. Additional technical detail requests such as gearing ratios, break force, and tire width should be forwarded to Dr. ███████.
Under additional testing it has been discovered that it is possible to go faster than 500 KM/h, however, testing was halted out of safety concern of the operator and a lack of a road surface long enough to test the vehicle on.
SCP-2308-78 was acquired using SCP-2003, primarily because it was still under development and had not been released to the public by Argo Automotive by the time SCP-2308 was considered neutralized.
It is currently being tested using SCP-2003 to determine if the anomalous properties of the vehicle are a side effect of the Temporal Self-Investment device Argo used, since no records of these effects were recovered from Argo's files.
