Item #: SCP-
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is willingly contained and is to be kept at a minimum of 312 feet underground in a cell designed to look like a 990 square foot suburban home which includes a home office and access to the internet. Internet is to be set at a 30 second lag time and usage is to be monitored at all times for any leak of sensitive materials with any such leak being neutralized within the 30 second window. SCP-XXXX must be provided with a menial job to be performed from said home office for 8-9 hours a day 5 days a week.
Food should be provided in the form of unprepared weekly rations of microwavable meals with a minimum level of variety and avoiding turkey at all cost.
Any research is to be done by specially chosen Class C personnel. All tests are to be cleared by class B personnel and performed under minimum staffing conditions to limit human presence on the test site.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a human or at least humanoid anomaly whose records indicate a birth date of 10/02/1981 and a given name of Vernon Alberts born at Allen hospital in Waterloo Iowa. His appearance is that of average height, weight and general attractiveness. However SCP-XXXX has the ability to cause negative emotional reactions from those within a range which is dependent on external variables. The negative emotions are triggered by SCP-XXXX's own positive feelings and the severity of the effects are directly proportionate to his own. The previously mentioned range of these effects are based directly on the density of the nearby population. Based on previous testing this has been concluded to be the result of humans serving as both conduit and repeater for the emotional signal, this is to say that if SCP-XXXX's range is 30 feet and someone is standing 15 feet away then the "signal" will be extended 15 feet in that direction. This chain of effect can go on continuously as long as there is a human to receive it and repeat it.
It is believed SCP-XXXX developed this ability at age 9 based on the successful suicide of both parents on 10/02/1990. Although there do not seem to be any events in the preceding years until 02/16/2001 which resulted in the temporary institutionalization of the subjects dormmate. Finally there was the event at the AMC movie theater at the Boston Common 19 on 06/11/2011 during a showing of "Super 8" (The movie title will be redacted) which led to 3 attempted suicides and a localized spike in the download purchases of the 1987 album "Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me" by the Cure.
The effect while dependent on the level of SCP-XXXX's own pleasure/joy/happiness can be magnified or decreased by the recipient. This is crucial for continued research as only the most apathetic class c personnel are to be selected for contact with SCP-XXXX.
