Description:
SCP-XXXX is a song titled ‘Souris pour moi’, apparently written by an unknown woman referred to as ‘Dame sourit’ (‘Lady of Smiles’). The song is believed to have been composed at some point during the early 1900’s in Paris, France, with the oldest reference to the song being a letter dated from 1902 (See addendum 1 for a translated copy of this letter).
The song itself has no abnormal qualities, and on the surface is a slow piano song sung by an unknown woman believed to be the above mentioned Dame sourit. (Lyrics and translation can be found in addendum 2). The abnormalities only become apparent when the song is listened to by a person that is not within 20 feet of another conscious person, in which case SCP-XXXX-1 will manifest in the nearest unobserved location and make their way towards the person listening to SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX-1 is a Caucasian male believed to be middle aged, with greased black hair worn in a bowl cut and grey eyes. They are dressed like a classic french mime, consisting of a black and white striped shirt, black trousers with black suspenders, black dress shoes, a red ascot tied around the neck and a black beret. It was originally believed that SCP-XXXX wore face paint, in this case being a white face with black lips and a black tear below the right eye, but further examination leads the foundation to believe that these markings are permanent and are most likely tattooed. Scans of SCP-XXXX-1 have shown that part of their brain on the left hemisphere is missing, specifically in the cerebrum, which may indicate that SCP-XXXX-1 is unable to communicate rather than choosing not to.
When SCP-XXXX-1 enters the room where the person that listened to SCP-XXXX is located, they will begin performing a traditional mime show for said person. (This person will from now on be referred to as the audience)
This show typically involves traditional miming, slapstick comedy and magic shows, and will often involve props that SCP-XXXX-1 will pull from behind their back despite never being shown carrying any props prior to the show (A full list of all recorded props can be found in Addendum 3). SCP-XXXX-1 will continue with the show regardless of how the audience reacts to it, if at all, but SCP-XXXX-1 will follow the audience member if they attempt to leave, and will not stop following them until SCP-XXXX-1 is done with their show. It should also be noted that SCP-XXXX-1 will change their behaviour slightly depending on how the audience reacts; being happier when the show is watched, being overjoyed when the audience reacts positively to the show, tearing up with a forced smile if the audience reacts negatively and glaring with a fake smile if the audience tries to leave.
Once this show is over, SCP-XXXX-1 will stand with their feet together and arms spread outwards as if expecting applause. If the audience reacts to this by clapping, whooping, giving thumbs up or generally reacting positively to the show, SCP-XXXX-1 will smile, bow deeply and then leave, disappearing once out of sight.
However, if the audience reacts by booing, giving thumbs down, ignoring SCP-XXXX-1 or generally reacting negatively to the show, SCP-XXXX-1 will scowl, and then mime picking up a box and dropping it on top of the audience, before dramatically folding their arms and storming off, again disappearing once out of sight. However, this time an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 will be created on top of the audience member.
SCP-XXXX-2 instances are invisible boxes of varying sizes that are placed over the top of audiences by SCP-XXXX-1. While all scans done on instances of SCP-XXXX-2 show that nothing out of the ordinary is there, SCP-XXXX-2 is shown to be there by the fact that anyone that has once placed on them by SCP-XXXX-2 cannot escape from it by themselves. They can only escape from them if a second person comes and pulls them out of it, which will effectively render SCP-XXXX-2 non-existent. While instances of SCP-XXXX-2 seem harmless or even comical at first, they have shown to be very dangerous, as people trapped inside them may not be found for long periods of time, and victims of them have been recorded suffering from things like starvation, dehydration, depression, hallucinations, illness and even death. Noteworthy instances of this happening can be found in addendums 4, 5 and 6.
Addendum:
Addendum 1: Letter referencing SCP-XXXX
The following letter has been translated from french into english. The letter was written by a woman named Annabelle Latrous and was addressed to her close friend named Lisa Mayworth. The letter was sent during June of 1902, and was sent from a post office in the french city of Lyon. It reads as follows:
//Dearest Lisa,
I detest the hotel where I currently find myself. The walls are infused with the smell of whiskey and I could swear that I am surrounded on all sides by the people that make them smell that way. I will be leaving here tomorrow and will hopefully find myself in better company when I do, but until then writing to you is the only thing I can do to stop myself from jumping out the window and swimming home to you, leaving this wretched holiday far behind me.
Marcus says that Lyon will be well worth the trip; apparently he has bought me tickets to a private live music show performed by one ‘Lady of smiles. I cannot say I’m looking forward to it no matter how much he gushes about it, if I wanted to listen to beautiful music I would simply request to hear you sing. I suppose I should be grateful to have a husband so eager to take me to such distinguished places; god only knows your Franklin could take a lead out of his book, hermit that he is, but i cannot deny that i will enjoy the summer Saturday spend with you by the pond in La Rochelle more than I will ever enjoy a glamorous week away with the man my parents threw me at.
I will return to you soon, my darling.
All my love, adoration and unconditional devotion;
Anna//
(It should be noted that the aforementioned Annabelle Latrous was found dead in Lyon one month after this letter was sent, from what was deemed at the time to be starvation after being found in a locked storage closet in a since demolished music bar called the Rose Bed. The aforementioned Lisa Mayworth would also die 3 months later after falling from the roof of her home onto the concrete below.)
Addendum 2: Lyrics
Below are the lyrics to SCP-XXXX, translated roughly from french to english.
//Souris pour moi // Smile for me
Give me a smile
Give me a grin
Give me a chance to make you happy again
Give me a moment
Of your precious time
My dear
Life is just one storm
After another
But for just one moment,
Maybe
We can smile together
No matter the weather
So darling,
Please smile for me
Smile for me
Smile for me
Please darling, please smile for me
//
