Object Class: Safe

Special containment procedures:

Variations of subject XXXX-1 through to XXXX-10 are located within Site-X's human resources department; housed within two 30L standard plastic storage containers. Each container has a 60mm by 100mm white adhesive sticker with the text "SCP XXXX-1 through -10" written with a standard black felt tipped permanent marker.

Foundation personnel wishing to request temporary or permanent access to a XXXX-1 through XXXX-10 specimen for personal daily use can submit a Personnel External Testing application to Site-X's human resources department.

XXXX-11 through XXXX-20 are to be stored at Site-X’s standard safe anomalous dry storage holding area. Vault C-2: Strong box 95. When not in active rotation between research departments or active in the field.

XXXX-11 through XXXX-20 are restricted to individual research projects that are approved by project director Dr. James Blackwell, due to the rarity of these variations. All Personnel External Testing applications eluding to XXXX-11 through XXXX-20 are to be rejected redirected to Dr. Blackwell's office for evaluation.

Description: Item XXXX are a series of plushie style pet toys developed by the (Place holder) organisation, and distributed by the Dr. Wondertainment organisation to numerous pet stores, general goods stores and dollar stores across dense population centers in North America, Western Europe and Oceania, with some instances reported in parts of Japan, South Korea and coastal China. Attempts to locate a point of origin have thus far been unsuccessful; and to date no sellers of XXXX have records of ordering or having prior knowledge of XXXX before their arrival in regular deliveries of inventory.

Each instance of XXXX-1 through XXXX-20 is based upon an existing species of animals, with the specific species represented broken down into four distinct “Generations”. Each generation would have a specific theme that united the specific series of toys being sold in that subsequent set; each set consisting of 5 species.

While each individual instance of XXXX is unique in appearance due to varying colour pallets, patterns, sizes and audio facilities; XXXXs are still easily categorised by the animals they’re attempting to represent.

These generations and their intended audience are as follows.

Generation 1 XXXX-1 through XXXX-5

XXXX-1 : Dog (All breeds)
Special note: A variation of XXXX-1 henceforth XXXX-1.S Depicts XXXX-1 instances with missing limbs, scars and prosthetics; as well as various simplistic depictions of uniforms including; police, firefighter and army camouflage outfits that are sown into the toys.

XXXX-2 : Cat (All breeds)
XXXX-3 : Rabbit (Domesticated rabbit)
XXXX-4 : Mouse/Rat
XXXX-5 : Guinea Pig/Hamster

Generation 2 XXXX-6 through XXXX-10
XXXX-6 : Parrots (Variety of species including Macaws, Cockatoos and Budgerigars)
XXXX-7 : Capybara
XXXX-8 : Monkeys (Thus far no instances of XXXX have been shown resembling apes)
XXXX-9 : Horses/Zebra/Donkey (Variety of species)
XXXX-10 : Fox (Variety of species)

Generation 3 XXXX-11 through XXXX-15

XXXX-11 : Microraptor (Microraptor zhaoianus)
XXXX-12 : Stegosaurus
XXXX-13 : Compsognathus
XXXX-14 : Pachycephalosaurus
XXXX-15 : Parasaurolophus

Generation 4 XXXX-16 through XXXX-20
XXXX-16 SCP 1550 (Multiple varieties, including ones previously unknown.)
XXXX-17 SCP 939 (All instances of XXXX-17 contain a mimicking recording device, which activates upon detecting human speech patterns of 30dB or higher at five meters or less. Instances can replicate the audio perfect, without any discernible degradation of audio quality or background interference.)
XXXX-18 SCP Unknown insectoid. Instances resemble adult hercules beetle (Dynastes hercules), however their legs have been replaced with aquatic fins, as well as the addition of a spiny dorsal fin.
XXXX-19 SCP [Redacted]

XXXX-20 SCP Unknown Plantae or fungus species. Each instance of XXXX-20 contains a trunk like cylindrical torso ending in three tripod style leg like appendages. The upper half of XXXX-20 differes between instances. Roughly 35% of all documented variations of XXXX-20 are shown to have five tendril like limbs of varying thickness. This varation additionally has a pileate type structure at the cranial most point. The remaining 65% of XXXX-20 instances are depicted with three large leaf like structures sprouting from the trunk, while the cranial most point depicts an "Inverted sunflower" with the ray flower petals making up the interior center, whilst a courser material believed to replicate a disk floret makes up the exterior of the flower.)

Anomalous properties: XXXX instances are comprised of a currently unknown highly resistant substance that shares the same texture and flexibility of cotton or similar synthetic materials, such as polyester, traditionally used to create plush toys. While still highly susceptible to most agents capable of damaging or destroying cotton based materials, XXXX is significantly more resistant to punctures, tears and organic corrosive acids than traditional materials. The interior of XXXX is entirely comprised of synthetic fibres that show no anomalous features.

The label accompanying XXXX instances claims that each instance is machine washable, but advises that the item not be placed within a machine drier due to the risk of flammability; Experiment 3-B confirmed this hazard as warranted, and the use of machine driers on XXXX instances has hereby been prohibited.

XXXX toys are intended to be used as “Pet companions” for individuals who spend large portions of the day away from home, and are forced to leave their pets and animals unattended during that away period. The XXXX’s primary anomalous feature is triggered when one of many prerecorded activation phrases are spoken, followed by all human individuals leaving the designated space. If a human remains within viewing distance of the instance, or no animals of the appropriate designation are present, the XXXX instance will remain dormant. However; if the criteria specified by the XXXX instance are met, the instance will active and begin to animate through anomalous means.

Special note Direct viewing of XXXX is required to prevent activation. Electronic recordings, film and one way translucent barriers do not hinder the activation process of XXXX is observed by these means.

Experiment log

XXXX-1 activation. Test 3

Test subject SCP XXXX-1

Procedure: One (1) instance of SCP XXXX-1 was to be activated and left alone with one (1) canine test subject within a standard humanoid containment cell for a period of thirty minutes. At thirty minutes staff personal will reenter the containment cell. The experiment will be observed via a one way mirror that runs along the Eastern wall of the cell.

The following is from recorded Activation Experiment-3 following the activation of an XXXX-1 (A 23cm by 27cm red and green tartan patterned terrier) in the presence of a three year old female border collie, henceforth referred to as Daisy.

Dr. Blackwell: “Ok Daisy. Sit.” Dr Blackwell raises his hand to convey a sit command to the dog. The dog follows his command, and awaits further instruction. “Good girl.” Dr. Blackwell gives the dog a small liver treat for successfully complying with the command. “I’m just going to step outside for a little bit, ok. I need you to stay here for me.” Dr. Blackwell pauses to focus on the XXXX-1 instance placed upon a stainless steel chair sat in the centre of the room. “I shall be back shortly.” he says in a clear and precise tone whilst staring at XXXX-1 terrier subject; before stepping out of the room and locking the containment cell.

Thirty seconds: Daisy continues to stare at the door Dr. Blackwell had exited from, whilst still in a sitting position.

Forty five second: Daisy begins to whine. She stands and proceeds to the door; starching it lightly with her right front paw.

Fifty seconds: XXXX-1 Subject begins to animate. Subject is seen rising from a laying position to a standing position. Daisy hasn’t noticed.

Fifty Five seconds: XXXX-1’s tail begins to shift from left to right in a wagging motion upon noticing Daisy. Subject makes the motion of barking, though the sound of a toy speaker is heard instead. Daisy turns to face the subject who moves into a traditional canine play bow. Daisy approaches the subject, sniffing it for 6 seconds before reciprocating the play bow.

One minute: Both XXXX-1 and Daisy are engaged in traditional play activities.

Seven minutes thirteen seconds: Both XXXX-1 and Daisy pause to drink from a water dish. Unknown if XXXX-1 requires fluids or is replicating Daisy's behavior. Further testing required.

Seven minutes forty seconds: Play resumes. XXXX-1 appears to chance Daisy around the testing environment in a clockwise manner. Daisy's emotional state is recorded as "Playful"

Seventeen minutes eighteen seconds: Daisy curls up in the North Western corner of the containment cell, with XXXX-1 laying against her stomach. Daisy appears to fall asleep at the time. Neither subject moves from this position for the remainder of their time in isolation.

Thirty minutes: Dr Blackwell reenters the containment cell. Daisy is stirred from her sleep and rushes to the door to greet him. XXXX-1 does not activate during this period, and is presumed to have entered its dormant state.
Dr Blackwell: "Hey girl! I'm back. Did you miss me?"
