Section of SCP-XXXX's terrarium.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: All anomalies considered to be SCP-XXXX are contained in a large, closed terrarium, and monitored by personnel daily. Upkeep of SCP-XXXX's containment includes refilling the bottom of the enclosure with clean water every other week, maintaining a regulated temperature of 20°C within the enclosure, and functional overhead LED lights. SCP-XXXX must be fed a minimum of once per day. Its diet consists of meat exclusively; all attempts to change this diet have failed, as SCP-XXXX will refuse to eat anything that is not meat. SCP-XXXX will become extremely agitated if not fed, and begin to cannibalize each other, as well as attempt to breach containment. In the event of a breach, personnel re-containing SCP-XXXX are required to wear thick clothing and protective gear, exposing little to no skin. Any exposed skin will be attacked by SCP-XXXX, and eaten down to the bone.
Depending on the number of anomalies breached, and how far from containment they are, re-containment of SCP-XXXX can be tedious.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a colony of small, winged entities. They range between 25mm and 30mm in height. SCP-XXXX typically have sharp rows of teeth, and small, black eyes. They have membranous wings that closely resemble dragonfly wings, reaching 40mm when fully extended. Their wings are water-resistant. SCP-XXXX can fly at speeds of approximately 64 kph, though this speed is unlikely in containment.
The colony is comprised of anywhere between fifty and 100 entities at any given time and is replenished by eggs laid by the "queen" of the colony. The queen is determined by which an entity can maintain power over the rest. Fights regularly break out amongst the entities and the queen to try to kill her and become the new queen.
Two scenarios have been proposed by researchers as to what might happen if something other than an XXXX anomaly kills the queen, but this has been determined to be too dangerous to test. Testing has since been approved and is to be carried out in a controlled environment with D-Class personnel in case of scenario two.
Addendum: Further testing on SCP-XXXX is prohibited, and is not to be considered for the foreseeable future. Further discussions on scenarios one and two are also prohibited.
