Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-X instances are to be contained in standard humanoid containment cells. At all times they are to be sedated with medicine given via IV. As of 5/5/1923, SCP-XXXX-X instances are no longer to be interviewed without direct permission from the Site Director of Site-██.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the general term given to a portion of the former Mexican Batallón de San Patricio (English: Saint Patrick's Battalion), which operated in Mexico during the Mexican-American War between 1846 and 1848. SCP-XXXX-X instances are former members thereof. As of 5/18/2018, three of the original thirty SCP-XXXX-X instances contained by the American Secure Containment Initiative¹ still survive.

All thirty SCP-XXXX-X instances were retrieved on November 12, 1847, following an incident at Chapultepec (see Addendum XXXX-1). SCP-XXXX-X instances are easily provoked and agitated. When agitated, body temperatures and skin temperatures become extremely heightened, reaching between 70 and 100°C. Extensive testing reveals that SCP-XXXX-X instances have no issues remaining healthy when temperatures reach this level. However, when touched, the heat can produce burns and other undesirable effects.

During the Mexican-American War, primarily Catholic deserters from the U.S. Army, prompted by Mexican propaganda, fled to the Mexican side of the war with promises for citizenship and land. As the United States prosecuted the war, many San Patricios were captured. During the Battle of Chapultepec, General Winfield Scott of the U.S. Army ordered the hanging of thirty captured San Patricios on 13 September, 1847.

When hanged, the gallows caught fire and the San Patricios were found alive. After this, the American Secure Containment Initiative was contacted. On November 12, 1847, the operatives from the ASCI retrieved the San Patricios. Following the conclusion of the Mexican-American War, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo stipulated the permanent custody over the thirty San Patricios involved in the September 13 hanging to be given to the ASCI (see Addendum XXXX-2).

Article XXIII.

The captured members of the Saint Patrick's Battalion, who survived the hanging of September 13, 1847, shall be placed under the custody of the American Secure Containment Initiative. Because of this, the Mexican republic will be paid indemnities for the loss of the members of the Saint Patrick's Battalion. Furthermore, the Mexican republic will relinquish all claim to custody over the members of the Saint Patrick's Battalion now placed under the custody of the American Secure Containment Initiative.

A large point of contention in the negotiations that would draft the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was what to do with the San Patricios who had survived the hanging on 13 September. Nicholas Trist, the negotiator sent by U.S. President James K. Polk, took a hardline approach to securing the right of the American Secure Containment Initiative to study and contain the instances of SCP-XXXX-X. After negotiation, the above Article XXIII was drafted.

Later negotiations, when several former Mexican organizations merged into the American Secure Containment Initiative, were notably less harsh. They allowed full rights to study and test on SCP-XXXX-X instances for the merging organizations. When the ASCI was merged into the Foundation, however, testing and interviews with SCP-XXXX-X instances became more sparse and eventually forbidden without permission due to the extremely agitated nature of SCP-XXXX-X instances and the danger they pose when agitated.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an instance of a CK-class restructuring scenario. On an unknown date, presumably in the 20th century, a previous instance of reality (hereafter named SCP-XXXX-A) was merged into the current state of reality.

There are several known differences between the previous instance of reality and the current iteration of reality, each taking place between 1848 and 1852 Anno Domini. Below is a list of known events in SCP-XXXX-A and their perceived analogous events in the current instance of reality. Little specifics are known about the events in SCP-XXXX-A beyond the testimony of those who, when merged with the current instance of reality, retained information from SCP-XXXX-A.
