Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is currently contained within one of two adjoining cells in Site-██. These cells must be connected by both a window of reinforced 7cm thick glass, and a security door. The door must be remote controlled only and not be openable from either room. The object SCP-XXXX inhabits must be placed on a wooden desk in the centre of the room. Desk must include a chair.

A single Class-D employee must reside within the other cell for a period of 30 days. Upon completion of which the door should be opened and the employee allowed to interact with the possessed object. Efforts should be made to find Class-D personnel with sociopathic or psychopathic tendencies, and with minimal family or friends. Ideally, employee should be paired with another D-Class employee and encouraged to become friends. Weather this is possible or not, all family and friends should be monitored for the duration of the month period.

Upon completion of the 30 day period, after interacting with the object for no-less than 1 hour, both D-Class should be terminated as per standard company policy.

Personnel must be replaced within a period of 72 hours.

Description:
SCP-XXXX was first discovered on 23/04/████, however due to lack of adequate containment procedures was lost again soon after. It was discovered again █ years later and contained for a period of █ months, before being lost again. Since then it has been lost another █ times over ██ years as proper containment procedures were established. On average each loss of SCP-XXXX results in at least █ casualties. The exception being incident [DATA EXPUNGED] which resulted in significant loss of life and the use of ██ Class-B Amnesiacs.

Finally, after an incident in which [DATA EXPUNGED], SCP-XXXX was captured on the 12/02/████, and has been contained successfully ever since.

SCP-XXXX takes the form of a writing related object. SCP-XXXX itself has never been directly observed, only the objects in inhabits. Over the years it has inhabited pens, pencils, keyboards and one unfortunate incident with a child's etch-a-sketch. This incident resulted in [DATA EXPUNGED], and child was sent for rehabilitation.

When a person catches sight of the object, they are compelled by an urge to use it to write out everything they feel guilty about. The stronger the feeling of guilt, the stronger the urge to write becomes. There does not need to be paper or ink involved, the effect is the same weather those are present or not. Any words written out by the subject are carved into the flesh of a close friend or family member. The cuts are deep and if the subject’s friend or family member survives, all attempts to remove the scarring have failed. If the the subject is allowed to keep writing the scarred person will eventually perish of blood loss or shock.

Once the first subject’s friend or family member is deceased, the urge to write disappears for a period of 30 seconds. However unless the deceased person is nearby the subject often does not know what has occurred and is still within line of sight of the object when the respite period elapses, resulting in the cycle continuing.

If the object goes unobserved for a period of 72 hours, SCP-XXXX will abandon it’s host and transfer, by means as yet unknown, to another object connected to writing. No pattern in how it picks the objects has yet been observed, which can make recapture of SCP-XXXX extremely difficult. Also, if the object is observed but not used for a period of over 30 days, SCP-XXXX will also abandon its host.

Addendum:

Incident XXXX-A
After one attempt to capture SCP-XXXX almost resulted in Procedure ███-███████ being exposed, no employees with any connection to SCP-███ are allowed within Site-██.
