Item #: REX-ARCH
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Samples of REX- ARCH bacteria taken from REX-ARCH-A are to be stored in an armor freezer mounted into a 4 by 4 by a 10-foot concrete pillar in center of a hazmat level 3 laboratory on site. The freezer is to be kept at a minimum of -10° Celsius. The armor freezer has a keypad in which two passcodes that need to be entered at the same time to open the freezer. Two level 03, B level personnel are to retain these passcodes each knowing only their own passcode. The passcodes are to be changed on a monthly basis. Full documentation of details of experimentation with samples of REX- ARCH must be submitted to level 05 or 04 personnel for review before permission by level 05 or 04 personnel can be given to removing samples of REX- ARCH from the armor freezer for research.
All A to C personnel are to trained in dealing with blood bore diseases and when researching REX- ARCH are to wear Level 3 biohazard equipment at all times while handling samples. All personnel leaving SCP’s level 3 biohazard containment unit are to use decontamination procedures for blood bore diseases.
Any personnel that have been mutated by REX-ARCH are to given they own standard humanoid containment, when feasible, so they can be further studied. laboratory animals modified by REX-ARCH are to be disposed of after observing the mutation process and study the new form according to standard biological specimen clearance protocols, as outlined in Document CDP-BIO-EN-1. If deem necessary, at the approval of the SCP level 02 to 04 researchers, the mutated animals are to be kept for further study and assign a standard animal containment cell if feasible. Human mutations will be giving alphabetical designations while animal mutations that are kept will be giving numerical designations to distinguish between the two. Addendums are to given a (10-X) numerical designations
Description: REX-ARCH is an alien bacterium deliver to earth by a small meteorite in Wisconsin. It was discovered by Rachel age 24 (REX-ARCH -A) and Samuel age 27 (REX-ARCH -B) and were the first to become infected by REX-ARCH. This bacterium does not kill those infected by it but are transmuted into a new form. For humans, the transformations in most instances are into some form of humanoid animal hybrid. In some anomalous way, REX-ARCH is partially guided by the infected human, in some unknown matter, in the process of being mutated. Hunters become humanoid versions of the animals they hunt. Pet owners would become a humanoid version of their favorite animal and for individuals with more fanciful imaginations become humanoid versions of those fanciful creatures. For animals the mutation is more enigmatic, therefore harder to determine, as it may be guided by the animals’ requirements or desires.
The meteorite was retrieved and analyzed and found not to be a meteorite but semi-round metal sphere with a small central hollow where vapor form of REX-ARCH was stored. Further analysis of the sphere showed it had a mechanism that opened in the presents of any warm-blooded creature. The words Let the World Become Full Beautiful Fantastic Creatures engraved inside this hollow space.
REX-ARCH bacterium seen to be specifically targeting human beings with animal infections as an incidental event. REX-ARCH only affect organisms with calcium base spines. Cartilaginous creatures and all invertebrates are immune to REX-ARCH infection. It is possible that in some invertebrates, yet to be discovered, could become carries of REX-ARCH. During the mutation process, the creature being transformed is highly contagious and any contact with blood or bodily fluids have a 90% of causing infection. Time the transformation process is based on the mass of the creature, A typically human take roughly two weeks. Once transformed the new creature will be immune to any further infection from REX-ARCH and are no longer contagious except for carriers. Once transformed there is have no traces of live REX-ARCH bacteria in their bodies, however, do have trace elements of the dead bacteria in them. Carriers have live Bacterium in their systems and will attempt to infect all humans they encounter. Attempts to create an effective vaccines or antibiotics against REX-ARCH have fail.
REX-ARCH-A is a carrier of REX-ARCH and can infect others through blood contact or sexual contact. Her blood and other secretion have been collected and contain in the armor freezer as stated in Special Containment Procedures.
Addendum: REX-ARCH–010-1: There is some speculation that REX-ARCH is artificial because of the specific ways it alters the genetic structure the organisms it infects. REX-ARCH bacterium seems to be able reprogramming the genetic structure living cells of animals following specific parameters. In most normal mutations there is no specific reason for the mutations and is usually not beneficial to the altered life form – example a genetic disease. REX-ARCH does not behave this way, it has a purpose even if researchers not completely understand that purpose. Humans, for example, are transformed into new humanoid animal hybrids they gain greater physical strength, improved stamina, cured of disease (not the REX-ARCH infection) if had a disease before being infected by REX-ARCH, regain lost body limbs and repair damaged organs or gain additional limbs and other abilities. All transform beings’ skeletal-muscular structures are symmetrical with a physiology head, body and limbs configuration. There is no external asymmetrical in any mutation so far observed. Human mutations have an amalgamation of the human skull structure and animal skull structure are coherently blended so not compromise the size of the human brain cavity and the binocular vision of the eyes. The result gives the new skull structure a juvenile animal appearance because prominent forehead and superficial appearance of predatory eye structure even if the amalgamation is herbivore in appearance. All human mutations so far have had the ability to speak.
Addendum: REX-ARCH–010-2: REX-ARCH has unusual qualities of being slightly radioactive just above normal background radiation and generates a piezoelectric effect when compressed. At ambient room temperature REX-ARCH can survive for 24 hours before becoming inert. At 4.44° Celsius REX-ARCH can last for three months before becoming inert. Cryonically preserved REX-ARCH will last indefinitely. The mutation process of REX-ARCH utilizes the junk DNA of the subject infected in some anomalous way. REX-ARCH grows feebly in Petri dishes with normal nutrients for bacterium but will grow vigorously in living tissue samples. Another REX-ARCH anomaly that it can reads the researchers DNA as it is handled and adjust its DNA structure accordingly in preparation to the reads the researcher DNA and adjust its DNA structure accordingly in preparation to the possibility of infecting the researcher making the DNA analyzes of REX-ARCH has been difficult. Only humans that have been mutated by REX-ARCH can handle it without it changing its genetic code. Because of this, Rex-Arch mutated Researchers are involved in studying the REX-ARCH bacterium
Infection vector is as follows:
1. Before contact with the subject, REX-ARCH at this point has interpreted the subject’s
subconscious, adjusted its DNA to mutate the subject to its new form. Upon contact with
infected blood or bodily fluids, REX-ARCH enters through the subject’s pores.
2. REX-ARCH rapidly multiplies throughout the infected subject’s blood steam suppressing the
subject’s immune system but also killing any other diseases in the body. Subject’s body
temperature becomes elevated and the subject becomes contagious. This stage of the
Infection will last from 2 to 10 hours. For animals at this stage will cause them to seek out
humans in a submissive or aggressive behavior to lick or bit the humans.
3. The subject will fall into a comatose state when REX-ARCH reaches a certain level
saturation. At this point, REX-ARCH bacteria will develop nodules on its surface
4. These nodules will bust releasing million viral packets carrying the transmuting DNA. Viral
packets attach to the subject cells and eject into the cells the transmuting DNA to rewrite
the subject’s DNA. The subject would start to lose nails and teeth as new ones would be
replacing them. The epidermis would start pealing in large sheets to make way for the new
epidermis underneath that could be covered in fur, scales or feathers. Skeletal-muscular
and internal structures slowly change into a new form.
5. Through an anomalous process, the REX-ARCH bacterium maintains the subject’s comatose
body as it mutates the body into its new form. The subject is nourished and hydrated by
REX-ARCH and in some cases, the subject grows in body mass.
6. When the mutation process is complete, unless the new form is a carrier, all the REX-ARCH
dies and leave trace elements of the dead bacteria in the subject’s body. The subject then
will awake and have to adjust to its new form.
7. The subject’s new form is immune to REX-ARCH reinfection and from any other SCP items t
hat can cause mutation. Carriers of the REX-ARCH are also immune to other SCP items that
can cause mutation.

Addendum: REX-ARCH–010-4: psychology analysis overview of Humanoid subjects mutated by REX-ARCH bacteria by DR. on-site psychologist. All subjects are suffering from depression of various degrees as they try to adapt their new forms. Their behavior is similar to depersonalization disorder as they do not recognize themselves and are trying to cope with this. Recommend continual Counselling to help subjects adjust to their new situations.
DR. Statement reads - I believe that the best way to contain the subjects are to treat them with respect. All subjects have been very cooperative as they realize they have no place to go on the outside world. As long as the foundation does not endanger or threaten them, I believe the subject will continue to be cooperative. Given that all mutated subjects have had their strength and intelligent to some degree increased that if they put their minds to it, they could quickly overwhelm the site's personnel, they have no reason to do so unless we give them one.”
