SCP-5199
rating: 0+x

Item #: SCP-5199

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5199 is to be contained in a 5 m x 5 m x 5 m sealed container, which is to be monitored by at least one armed guard, each of them wearing a full body cover. The container's exterior is to be supplied with 190 liters of ocean water every twenty-four hours, and will be drained into the container. Once all the water is in the chamber, a conductor of electricity is to be placed into the water, and have 1000 volts of electricity sent into the water, which will destroy al instances of SCP-5199-B. This is for the isolation of SCP-5199-A.

Due to the fact that SCP-5199-A cannot be destroyed, no termination attempts are to be undergone of the instance.

The only exceptions of the Containment Procedure are for experiments on the specimen, which needs approval from Dr.███████.

Description: SCP-5199 is a collection of small organisms that have the appearance of a black grain of sand. Microscopes indicate that SCP-5199 only has one, oversize cell that can be seen by the naked eye. Each instance of SCP-5199 undergoes mitosis at the average rate of one hour.

Nearly all of these instances can be destroyed via electric signals of over 900 volts. These instances are referred to as SCP-5199-B. One instance cannot be destroyed, referred to as SCP-5199-A.

All instances of SCP-5199 show signs of high intelligence (See Addendum 5199-B). One example of this is their instinct to create hordes of themselves.

If an instance of SCP-5199 makes direct contact with animal cells, it can intrude the plasma membrane and begin a chain reaction of cell destruction. The plasma membrane will remain intact, which leaves no signs of injury. (See Addendum 5199-A). Signs of this reaction is pain in the body, sudden severe headaches of the entire head, choking and [DATA EXPUNGED].

Addendum 5199-A: Interview About SCP-5199 Casualty

Interviewed: Ms. Ana ███████

Interviewer: Dr. ███████

Foreword: Explanation of the death of █████████ ███████ and ███████ ████ to SCP-5199

<Begin Log>

Dr. ███████: Welcome, Ana ███████. I am Dr. ███████, and I am here to ask about the deaths of your friends about six years ago.

Ms. Ana ███████: Well, to start, I remember where it happened; it happened at [DATA REDACTED], on the beach. We were having fun, and many grains of purely black sand blew over to us. █████████ got some blown onto her leg. As a joke, she threw some of it onto ███████'s feet, and we laughed.

Dr. ███████: Did anything happen before they died?
Ms. Ana ███████: Well, they both started to complain of terrible headaches. A couple minutes after, ███████ started to cough violently, then she retched, and [DATA EXPUNGED]. She dropped to her knees, then fell forwards. Then, [Interviewed pauses], she fell face first into the sand. After that, █████████ started coughing as well, but then she experienced what I thought to be a heart attack, because she clutched her chest, and fell backwards, dying quick.
Dr. ███████: Well, I am terribly sorry for your loss. We have contained the sand, and if you would like to see what killed your friends, let me know.
Ms. Ana ███████: I don't know. I already know its the sand however. I'm done here.

Closing Statement: [Small summary and passage on what transpired afterward]

Addendum 5199-B: Experiment:

Log of experiment 5199-012 Dr. ███████ denies daily electrocution for [REDACTED] days.

Day 1: 0600: Very little specimens of SCP-5199 are in the container.
Day █: [REDACTED] specimens are in the container, many of which are forming organs of an unknown organism
Day █: The specimens of SCP-5199 have formed an intelligent human being, likely controlled by the nuclei of the sand cells as one brain
Day █: The "sand guy", as referred to by Dr. Bright, communicates with Bright, telling it about how the sand will multiply, and get into a drift of wind, thus ending the planet's fauna life.
Day █: The electrocution cycle resets after the termination of the humanoid collection of SCP-5199
End Experiment

Note: The information from the humanoid is likely in the memory of SCP-5199-A, which leads the foundation to believe that it wants to cause an XK scenario.
