BY ORDER OF THE OVERSEER COUNCIL

The following file is Level 4/XXXX classified. Unauthorized access is forbidden.

XXXX

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained in a storage room at Site-55. SCP-XXXX is to be contained as long as it is not exposed to anyone for prolonged periods of time. Due to the effects of SCP-XXXX and the connection to a previously undocumented being referred to as the Walker Upon Reality, experimentation involving the SCP can only be done by the current Lead Researcher or the Site Director.

Anyone who experienced prolonged exposure to SCP-XXXX without prior authorization is to be amnesthicized or terminated depending on the level of exposure.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the combination of two items, designated SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B. SCP-XXXX-A is a painting depicting a middle-aged male, clothed in Renaissance-era garb. Testing has revealed that the pigments used in the creation of said painting date to the 16th century. SCP-XXXX-B is an aged journal written by an unnamed individual who appears to be the painter of SCP-XXXX-A.

Both SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B are filled with images and sketches of a symbol that resembles a distorted sun rising over a horizon. The pages within SCP-XXXX-B contain writing which decrease in legibility as it goes on; eventually becoming unreadable and nonsensical. The text of the journal appear to resemble depictions of Alagadda from SCP-2264 and the Hanged King.

Prolonged exposure increases the effects increase the intelligence and awareness of the subject. Subjects exposed to SCP-XXXX-A have shown knowledge that they should be unaware of if not outright incapable of learning.

Examples of knowledge shown by the subjects exposed to SCP-XXXX-A include:

  1. Intimate knowledge of one of the Doctors at the hospital's love life that they haven't interacted with in the past.
  2. Knowledge of Multivariable Calculus despite having never completed high school.
  3. Knowledge of the inner workings of the SCP Foundation and GOC despite being unfamiliar with both organizations due to the veil.
  4. Knowledge of the incident leading to the death of Dr. Aidoni's younger sister during an incident involving SCP-███.
  5. Knowledge of ██████.
  6. Knowing the real name of ██████.

After studying the journal extensively, the foundation currently believes that the portrait is a containment unit for a previously undocumented being. Because of the journal's contents and a potential connection to SCP-2264, Dr. Aidoni has decided that all experimentation involving SCP-XXXX will be kept at a minimum until it can be determined whether or not the prisoner poses a risk.

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered on 4/13/20██ by Foundation operatives investigating odd reports of patients at █████ recovering from otherwise incurable mental illness. They found SCP-XXXX-A locked away in one of the treatment rooms and SCP-XXXX-B in the possession of Dr. █████. After determining the anomalous properties of the painting, it was brought to Site-55 for initial testing and Dr. Felicity Aidoni was assigned to studying the effects of the painting.

Following an incident where a D-Class exposed to SCP-XXXX-A during an experiment lead to the subject telling in detail what happened to Dr. Aidoni's younger sister during an incident involving SCP-███, she ordered further testing to be done under careful observation by herself.
