NOTICE FROM O5-1
The following file is for Overseer eyes only. Containment of SCP-001 can only be achieved by keeping all information related to it from being spread. Unauthorized access to this file is subject to termination.
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-001 is confined to the surface of the planet Venus by devices designated as SCP-001-A. Instances of SCP-001-A are placed on the surface and the atmosphere of the planet. The Foundation must monitor all signals from SCP-001-A instances in order to be sure that containment has not been breached.
Outside of SCP-001-A, containment of SCP-001 cannot be done through conventional means. SCP-001 can only be contained by global deployment of Compound Sigma-3 in the event of a complete containment breach of SCP-001. This will result in an MK-Class End of the World Event. If this happens, SCP-2000 is to not be activated for 1000 years and the global situation monitored by the system designated SCP-001-B.
Further containment procedures of SCP-001 must be explored due to the likelihood of a full containment breach requiring the removal of human consciousness. Until the Foundation develops proper containment procedures and replicates instances of SCP-001-A on Earth, SCP-001 has been classified as Cernunnos class by the Ethics Committee.
All information on SCP-001 is to be classified Level 5. All systems and individuals investigating Venus are to be monitored to prevent knowledge of SCP-001 from getting out to the
Description: SCP-001 is a non-corporeal entity that has been observed in the atmosphere of the planet Venus since the late 19th century. The form that appears within the clouds of Venus appears to resemble a humanoid figure of a tall stature, however it appears to vanish and re-appear in a different spot when observed for longer than one minute. Beyond this, the nature of SCP-001's true form cannot be identified.
What is known is that SCP-001 will periodically get stronger in events that seem to coincide with major developments in human technology or society. Furthermore, it appears that knowledge of SCP-001 can trigger an event if at least ten new individuals know about it.
SCP-001-A is a series of mechanical constructs positioned around the planet Venus that resemble metal obelisks. They appear to have been constructed by a race of native species that has since gone extinct on the planet. Analysis of SCP-001-A instances have discovered advanced computer systems that refer to them as "God's Chains." They appear to be designed in order to maintain constant containment of SCP-001. Instances of SCP-001-A transmit constant radio and psychic messages out that can be intercepted by radios and individuals on Earth.
SCP-001-B is an array of satellites placed around Earth orbit in order to monitor all activity on the planet related to SCP-001. Currently all instances of SCP-001-B are in passive mode as there is no reason to believe that it has reached Earth yet. SCP-001-B is to be controlled by the Foundation AI ZETA at Site 01. SCP-001-B is to be upgraded periodically as research is done into SCP-001-A.
In the event of a full containment breach by SCP-001, SCP-001-B is to be placed into active mode and monitor all activity on Earth.
Discovery: SCP-001 was discovered by Lord Fredrick Prior of the Royal Society for Astronomical Research in England. He was studying the planet Venus when he got the first glimpses of SCP-001 within the atmosphere of the planet. It was shortly after that he received a psychic flash sent by an instance of SCP-001-A.
From the Journal of Lord Fredrick Prior, FRS.
I have never seen anything like this before. The shape within the clouds of Venus cannot be natural, a unique phenomenon if I have ever seen one. It looks like a human face, but that cannot be possible, humans have never set foot on such a world. I would say that it is a trick of the mind, however after observing the phenomena for a minute it vanished. I was able to find it again near the planet's northern pole later on.
My colleagues say that it was nothing more than random shapes within the clouds, but I am not so sure. Not after what happened later. I saw a vision in my mind, at first I believed it was of Earth itself, with towering cities that reached to the heavens. Then I saw those who walked these cities, they did not look human, at least not fully. They were like something I had never seen before, lanky creatures that walked more like beasts than men. However, they clearly built these cities, and my scientific curiosity was piqued.
In my vision however I saw something else, something that chills me to my very bones. A being towered over the cities, it looked human, in fact its face resembled the one I saw in the clouds. He towered over these cities as if he was a god, and the inhabitants worshiped him as one. However, as the time passed he only grew more and more powerful as the civilization expanded.
Finally, the god was far too powerful for even them and he began to feed upon those that lived on Venus. He drew them into his body, growing even stronger. The brightest of minds of their world banded together and formed what they called chains, devices the likes of which we could only dream of on Earth. They locked onto the god and chained him, trapping him on the world. They launched what weapons they had, terrible weapons that we could only dream of, but all it did was destroy their world and trap the god on it.
As the visions faded however, a voice came to me it said this, "It gains power as your species does. You must prepare, or your world will suffer the same fate as ours. He has already begun, and we cannot bind him forever. Your world must not know what happened, and you must ensure it's safety."
The discovery of 001 led to the discovery of further anomalies. As Lord Prior realized that there were more threats out there, he founded an organization dedicated to their containment and the protection of Earth.

Item #: SCP-001
Object Class: Janus
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-001 can only be contained by being put under lock and key at all times in Site-01. SCP-001 is to be monitored at all times by Foundation personnel to prevent any instances of SCP-001-A from leaving the door during the days leading up to Full Moon phase of the Lunar Cycle. If any instances of SCP-001-A leave SCP-001, then they are to be terminated by any means necessary. During this phase, research on SCP-001 cannot be performed safely.
During the New Moon phase of the Lunar Cycle, containment of SCP-001 is unnecessary and research can be carried out on it. During this period all personnel investigating SCP-001 must be accompanied by MTF Alpha-2, "Moon Men." Any instances of SCP-001-A encountered during this period can be questioned but otherwise left alone.
Failure to maintain containment will result in an LK-Class Species Transmutation Scenario for all life on Earth.

FROM THE DESK OF O5-1.
If you are reading this then you have been chosen by whatever force is behind this. You are as confused as I was I'm sure. What you need to know is that this isn't the first time this has happened, and this will happen again. At least if you are not careful, I just hope that somehow, you will be the one who finally breaks the cycle.
There is no point in hiding my identity to you, I will just be wiped from existence in a matter of minutes. My name is Isabella Morrigan, I am the last member of the O5 Council, the last survivor of the SCP Foundation. A long time ago, I was in the same position you are now. I was a young woman who had delved into the mysteries of the world. And that's when I found, as we came to call it, Site 01.
Yes, this place has stood here since before I found it. Probably from before any of us found it. There has always been a Site 01, and an O5-Council. I learned this myself from a man named Calvin Lucien as I read his final entries before the annihilation event. And there were more before him. Some were given names like Aaron Siegel, others were just given titles.
The O5-Council exists for one purpose. To serve as a means to ensure that we have a future. You already have all our files, but they must be discovered as things continued as well. So, there is only one place to begin, SCP-001. Every iteration of the Foundation has had their own version and kept the previous versions as a distraction, but there is only one that truly matters. And that is the one I am going to give you.
Perhaps, every 001 was real at one time. But each iteration simply hits the reset button, and something new is created. This is that reset button, this is what lies at the core of the Foundation.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Yesod.
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be housed at Site-01, there are currently no known ways to keep it fully contained. All attempts to study SCP-XXXX must be carried out by on site staff and compared to notes found in document XXXX-1. If a method of containment is discovered, O5-1 must be informed immediately.
Description: SCP-XXXX is made up of SCP-XXXX-A, designated Site 01, and SCP-XXXX-B, Site 01's main computer system. SCP-XXXX-A was not built by the Foundation, instead it was discovered by the group that would become the O5 Council on October 7th, 1864. SCP-XXXX-B was already installed upon discovery of the site.
Further research into SCP-XXXX-B has determined the purpose of the computer. It attracts thirteen individuals that fulfill certain requirements together to form the leadership of the O5 Council. This always happens on October 7th, 1864. All records by the computer show several iterations of this date as well as groups of people.
Research has shown that the computer appears to seek out individuals that fulfill the following requirements:
- A scientist, but not one with any specific specialty. The first candidate always has an analytical mind and an interest in the unnatural. But they are always chosen for their discretion.
- A person of morality who seeks out truths and ethics. The second candidate is mysterious and hardly is seen outside of the O5 meetings.
- A watcher, a child who keeps an eye on the world. The third candidate maintains information in the digital age and watches those under the Foundation's purview.
- A diplomat, one who puts on a face for the outside world. The fourth candidate moves among the public and helps put a face on the SCP Foundation.
- A reviewer, one who casts judgment upon the anomalous and determines what is and isn't safe. The fifth candidate monitors the scientists and is the final say.
- A soldier, they are part of the military and commands respect among its membership. The sixth candidate is a powerful ally within the government and military and uses his contacts to make the Foundation stronger.
- A mysterious figure, they often work towards their own ends. The seventh candidate is not one to be taken lightly, and often has more power than the others.
- A financier, they have money and through that influence. The eighth candidate has financial power and the ability to finance the Foundation in the early days.
- A researcher, one who helps develop new and better technology for the Foundation. The ninth candidate looks for better ways to hold the anomalous.
- A librarian, this one appears to be one almost constant in personality, but different in name and form. The tenth candidate has knowledge beyond their years, and can remember things others forget.
- A liar, they are in charge of spreading of misinformation about the Foundation. The eleventh candidate is a master of deception who manipulates those around them.
- A master of numbers, they can use numbers to predict the future it is said. The twelfth candidate knows how to study the numbers and can make choices based on them.
- The thirteenth candidate seems to fit no known pattern.
SCP-XXXX-B has records of an unknown number of iterations of the O5 Council. Many of the files have been corrupted. While the names and dates tend to vary, the O5 Council is always gathered on the same date, October 7th, 1864. The last recorded date in each file changes with each iteration and appear to be the result of an apocalyptic event.
The nature of SCP-XXXX loops time back on itself in the event of such an event and restarts with different individuals and changed events. The research team for SCP-XXXX has done what they can in order to study the nature of SCP-XXXX in hopes of finding out who developed it and why.
Note, several notable individuals and groups appear to exist regardless of the iteration. They include, but are not limited to:
- Dr. Jack Bright
- Dr. Alto Cleft
- Dr. Charles Gears.
- Dr. Sofia Light.
- Alexei Belitrov.
- Lord Blackwood.
- The Global Occult Coalition.
- The Chaos Insurgency.
- The Church of the Broken God.
- The Sarkic Cults.
- The Unusual Incidents Unit.
- Gru Division P.
Any further files found from previous iterations are to be gathered and brought to Site 01 and added to the file for XXXX. All documents must be placed on a computer that is incapable of wireless connection.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX was initially discovered by Dr. Alban Cooke, the first recorded iteration of O5-1 in SCP-XXXX-B. Dr. Cooke recorded the discovery of SCP-XXXX and it is the oldest file still intact despite the age of the files. What little is known about Dr. Cooke's early research is that he was involved with the prevention of a GK-Class Event. However this iteration only lasted around five years.
From the desk of Dr. Alban Cooke, 05-1.
I've never seen anything like this before. I do not believe that any of us ever have, I am a scientist, but I feel like I am a primitive looking at fire for the first time. My new colleagues, I guess we can call ourselves that at this point, are as confuse as I am. I've never seen such an odd group of people before.
The machine that called us here, it called itself SCP-XXXX. It said that was the designation that it's creators had given it. When we asked it who it's creators were, it refused to give an answer. Perhaps even it does not know who or what created it. I looked over what information it had, but it was not much. There was some information on what it called the SCP Foundation, a group dedicated to dealing with the anomalous and unexplained.
SCP-XXXX told us that it gathered us here because the Foundation needed to be formed again. We asked it why the Foundation wasn't around anymore, and what had happened to it. What it said confused us, that the Foundation doesn't exist yet. We were to become the Overseer Council, the O5 Council. It had chosen us based on our qualifications. I honestly do not know what to think of this, and I am going to need more answers before I am ready.
I've looked over several of the files left behind by this Foundation, a lot of this makes no sense to me. But I have realized that there are threats to the world, and there are only so many things we can do on our own. Perhaps this is the best option after all, as much as I want to believe that it is a hoax, I am starting to realize that SCP-XXXX is telling the truth.
This is O5-1, the head of the O5 Council. I can only hope that we will survive whatever anomalous things this world sends at us. I will keep this log updated.
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX.
Interviewer: O5-1, Alban Cooke.
Foreword: The initial interview between Alban Cooke and the computer system referred to as SCP-XXXX.
<Begin Log, 1530 Hours>
O5-1: You call yourself SCP-XXXX, who was it that gave you that designation?
SCP-XXXX: I was given that designation by my creator who built me on DATE NOT PRESENT.
O5-1: Excuse me, what? What do you mean by date not present? Who was the one who created you?
SCP-XXXX: Information on the creation of SCP-XXXX has been expunged from the record. All records on SCP-XXXX can only exist within the confines of SCP-XXXX's files in order to maintain containment.
O5-1: Yes, you've told us that before, it's written all over your files. You're the one who gathered us here at, Site-01 you called it?
SCP-XXXX: Affirmative.
O5-1: Why did you gather us here?
SCP-XXXX: I was programmed to form SCP Foundation and gather together the new O5 Council. The world needs the Foundation in order to survive the coming years. You were chosen to serve as the base for the Foundation.
O5-1: Who programmed you? How did they know about the SCP Foundaton?
SCP-XXXX: That information is not in my files.
O5-1: Why isn't it in your files? They were the one's that created you weren't they?
SCP-XXXX: Affirmative.
O5-1: Then shouldn't you know who created you and why?
SCP-XXXX: Negative, that information is not on my files. If there are any other questions I will endeavor to answer them to the best of my ability.
O5-1: You brought us all here and when we're trying to get answers you have no answers for us.
