Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: A 30km2 perimeter is to be established, with SCP-XXXX at the centre. All civilians currently living within this region are to be relocated under the pretense of toxic chemicals having leaked into the soil. Any residents who have come into contact with instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are to be given Class-C amnestics and then relocated. Foundation personnel imitating agents of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment are to be assigned to the perimeter to prevent any civilians from gaining access to the containment zone. Civilians that manage to breach the zone are to be given Class-B amnestics, sedated, and moved to a safe distance from the zone.

Any instances of SCP-XXXX-1 found outside the containment zone are to be terminated immediately. The bodies are then to be placed back within the containment zone and left for retrieval by other instances. Under no circumstances are SCP-XXXX-1 to bring any outside material into the containment zone.

All roads leading into the zone have been redirected, permanently closed or destroyed. Maps have been updated, and all official records of SCP-XXXX-2 have been deleted or destroyed.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the ruins of the ██████ Ironworks, located in the ███████ region of Russia. The Ironworks were formally shut down in 1924 after allegedly receiving significant damage during the Civil War. Closer observation reveals this report to have been false, as there are no signs of unusual damage to the building's exterior.

The interior of the facility is connected to an extradimensional space which houses large quantities of manufacturing equipment. Foundation personnel have been unable to examine the inner workings of this machinery in detail as of this time. The machines each produce a single item from raw materials input by SCP-XXXX-1. There does not appear to be a pattern to the items produced. When each machine is done with its production cycle, several instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will come to retrieve the product, presumably to be used in other machines.

An incomplete list of items confirmed to be produced by SCP-XXXX follows:

SCP-XXXX-1 refers to a group of anomalous humanoid entities, produced within SCP-XXXX. They appear to act as workers and guards for the factory. Every instance of SCP-XXXX-1 is broadly identical in shape and size, standing at around 170cm tall.
SCP-XXXX-1 are dressed in a set of bulky protective clothing, identified to be an early 20th century hazardous materials suit. What purpose this serves, if any, is currently unknown.
Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are not hostile unless provoked Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are extremely unpredictable. While usually harmless within SCP-XXXX, they have been known to attack without warning while scavenging the surrounding region. They are usually found in groups of 2-6 instances.
When within SCP-XXXX, they act as workers, moving materials from machine to machine. Outside, they appear to act as gatherers, retrieving items seemingly at random and returning them to SCP-XXXX.

SCP XXXX-1 tend to be armed with one AK-47 assault rifle, as well as various tools for retrieving resources. Instances have been encountered armed with pickaxes, electric saws and, during Incident XXXX-A, [REDACTED]. SCP-XXXX-1 possess no atypical resistance to damage, and conventional weaponry will suffice for termination. However, instances do not appear to experience physical pain, with no observable response to non-lethal stimuli.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 react with extreme violence to any attempt to remove their suits or helmets. Upon termination, several instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will be dispatched from SCP-XXXX to retrieve the corpse, attacking any resistance.

SCP-XXXX-2 refers to the village of Arzalsk and nearby iron mines, located within SCP-XXXX's containment zone. Before containment, Arzalsk had a population of 500. After the population were relocated, Observation Post Alpha was established in the Arzalsk Town Hall. SCP-XXXX-2 was not originally thought to possess anomalous properties, but these properties became known after Incident XXXX-A.

SCP-XXXX-2 possesses a similar dimensional anomaly to SCP-XXXX, albeit on a smaller scale. Several houses have been expanded to contain cellars and rooms where none previously existed. These machines all seem to either produce instances of SCP-XXXX-1 or various tools and weapons for SCP-XXXX-1's use. It is the only location outside of SCP-XXXX where large numbers of SCP-XXXX-1 congregate, and it appears to have been made into a permanent outpost of sorts.

The majority of SCP-XXXX-1 instances located within SCP-XXXX-2 are within the iron mines, sending unprocessed ore to the factory for refinement. They appear to have a greater degree of intelligence than previously speculated, as they are able to operate the villagers' mining equipment without difficulty.

Observation Post Alpha, formerly the Arzalsk Town Hall, is the most obvious example of the dimensional anomaly. The layout of the building has significantly changed following Incident XXXX-A, and the doorway to the former Records Room now leads to an unknown point within SCP-XXXX. Whether or not SCP-XXXX-2 possessed its anomalous properties when it was still inhabited is currently unknown. All potable water within SCP-XXXX-2 is contaminated with SCP-XXXX-3.

SCP-XXXX-3 is a waterborne virus found within the SCP-XXXX-2 water supply. It appears to have been introduced through the Arzalsk Water Treatment Facility, located near the edge of the containment zone on the bank of the █████ River. (See Exploration Log XXXX-? for details) The origins of SCP-XXXX-3 are unknown, but it is likely that it originated from within SCP-XXXX. If this is the case, it indicates a greater manufacturing capacity than previously thought. Due to the prevalence of SCP-XXXX-3, local water supplies are not to be consumed by any personnel outside of approved tests (All SCP-XXXX-3 tests have been suspended following Incident XXXX-A by order of Head Researcher Blackburn.)

When it infects a human body, SCP-XXXX-3 causes several physical and psychological changes to the individual. Firstly, the affected individual will be rendered sterile. In most cases the individual is unaware of this change, and it was only discovered after extensive analysis of the former Arzalsk residents' physiology. SCP-XXXX-3 infection also renders the subject far more resistant to most bacterial and viral infections than a baseline human, to the point where extensive effort is required to ensure infection. After several days of infection, the infected subject will begin to display mechanical aptitude, often constructing various seemingly useless machines out of nearby random items. Subjects infected with SCP-XXXX-3 will also be extremely reluctant to enter or approach SCP-XXXX, and will display extreme hostility if forced to. Upon sighting SCP-XXXX-1, infected subjects will display heightened heart rate, shortness of breath and excessive perspiration. They will then express a desire to leave the proximity of SCP-XXXX-1, and often become violent if not permitted. SCP-XXXX-1 instances do not appear to treat infected subjects any differently than uninfected humans.
