Special Containment Procedures: Item SCP-5356 is to be kept in an approximately 50cm by 1.5m glass enclosure, similar to that of a normal enclosure for amphibians and reptiles. Flora found in the enclosure must imitate that of the ██████ Rainforest, so as not to alarm or discomfort SCP-5356. The enclosure and all instances related to SCP-5356 are to be kept on Site-19, in the Amphibian and Reptilian wing, in a humid bolt locked room, maintained at a temperature of 34°C (93,2°F) and a humidity level of 34%. The room is to have a backup generator in instances of power outage, as to maintain humidity and temperature.
Description: SCP-5356 is similar to a common tree frog (see image in Files at bottom of page), with 98.7% similar DNA, with exception of venimosity, colour and behaviour. Due to SCP-5356 having no anomalous properties apart from the effect of its venom, it has recieved a taxonomical nomenclature: Veritas Ranae. SCP-5356 is approximately 4cm tall, 5.3cm long and 3.9cm wide, weighing 12-17 grams, depending on venom sac level. It is in the Foundation's interests to contain and secure SCP-5356, since it can be used to control and subdue agressive and hostile SCP's (See #SCP-5356 on SCP-682 TEST#), along with the power world governments would wield, were this SCP to become public.
What makes SCP-5356 interesting to the Foundation is the effects of SCP-5356's venom. When approached or provoked, SCP-5356 will bloat up, its venom sacs inflating to +1.4cm from normal size and shoot a dark purple venom out of two symmetrical gills in the back of its trachea at the entity approaching or distressing it. The venom, upon contact with skin, will enter the blood stream through skin pores. The diffusion of the venom is increased when the venom comes into contact with eyes or mouth. It takes ~3 minutes to act (See #SCP-5356 TEST LOG#).
Upon contact with animals, the venom will relax the muscles in the legs and neck, resulting in the animal crumpling helplessly to the ground for approximately ~23 minutes (See #SCP-5356 An. TEST#). Analysis of animal brain activity during the process reveals hightened levels of serotonin and blockage of cortisol passages, moderately hindering the prefrontal cortex (See #SCP-5356 An. bSCA TEST#).
Upon contact with humans, the venom will relax muscles in the legs, arms and neck, lacking the concentration of chemicals to totally incapacitate the human, but enough for them to want to sit down and relax. Similar results are seen during a brain scan. Testing shows that SCP-5356's venom will totally inhibit a person's ability to lie, decieve or hide information (See #SCP-5356 Hu. bSCA TEST#). The venom's effect in small doses shows heightened obedience in animals and apes.
Discovery
It was discovered on 13/12/2019, in the ██████ Rainforest by Mauricio Perez, an enthusiast rainforest explorer, along with 2 friends. He led the expedition and upon finding the frog, contacted the Universidad Central de Venezuela (Central university of Venezuela) to report his finding. Andrea Hernandez and Luisa Del Maro, two scientists at the lab recorded and published a report and article regarding the discovery of a new frog species. This SCP came to the Foundation's attention on 12/02/2020, when the local Argentinian paper made an article on the discovery of this frog, naming it the "Rana Genial" (chill frog), referring to the scientific article which analysed the calming properties of the frog's venom. Agent ██████ (Codename: Agent Brey) noticed this and contacted Site-45 in Brasil. The frog discovered by Mauricio Perez was confiscated by the Foundation under pretence of it being dangerous, and 11 extra SCP-5356 instances were discovered in the neighbouring area. Containment
Leak of SCP-5356's existence before containment
To remedy the spread of information, Task Force PEDT-3a and OEDT-1b were dispatched on 13/02/2020. PEDT-3a wiped and destroyed all databases and files mentioning SCP-5356 in the univeristy, along with capturing the two scientists and 3 explorers to administer a grade C amnesiac, removing all traces of memories linking to SCP-5356. OEDT-1b removed all articles and news headlines involving SCP-5356 and administered grade D amensiacs to all journalists and reporters involved. Thankfully, media hadn't picked up on the discovered species, meaning information leak was minimal, classed at LEAK-G3.

The following is a transcript of Dr. ████████████ and Dr. Vebenwacher's animal testing
Dr. Vebenwacher: Start log of animal testing. Testing in relation to SCP-5356. We are using 3mg of concentrated 2M SCP-5356 venom, referred to from now on as Venom-5356. Today, we will be testing bovine, dog, cat and pig reaction to the venom.
Dr. ████████████ walks over to storage cabinet, removing a small vial labeled "SCP-5356 VEN."
Dr. ████████████: First test, dog.
Dr. ████████████ exits room briefly, returns carrying small labrador puppy.
Dr. ████████████: Test 1. Dog. Labrador puppy, good health, brown.
Dr. ████████████ places puppy on testing table. Dr. ████████████ then takes a syringe and measures out 0.5mg of SCP-5356 venom, which he injects into puppy. Puppy yelps slightly due to jab.
Dr. Vebenwacher: Timer start now. When labrador starts showing signs of a reaction to venom, time will be noted.
Timer goes on for 3 minutes and 12 seconds. Throughout, labrador paces around, licking Dr. ████████████'s hand, sniffing table. At around 3 minutes, the labrador shows signs of exhaustion, sluggishness and sleepiness. At 3:12, the dog falls on its side and appears to sleep deeply. Puppy "sleeps" for approximately 15 minutes. At time 18:34, the puppy gets to its feet very slowly and acts in a euphoric and relaxed manner, showing sings of extreme affection and trust to both Dr. ████████████ and Dr. Vebenwacher, neither of which it knew beforehand. At 26:52 the effects wear off.

Experiment Conclusion
Preliminary tests show the venom to have a docility, obedience and affection boost in animals, along with it being easier to control/train the animals while under the effect of small doses.

The following is a summary of the results of brain scans conducted on a cow, pig, cat and dog under the effect of the venom.
Dr. ████████████ injects the cow with a larger dose, due to its higher mass. The cow shows no reaction to the venom until 3:24, when it stumbles, moos and falls on its side. Its pupils dilate by 34% and the brain scans show almost non existent cortisol levels, high serotonin production and less activity in the pre-frontal cortex. Effect wore off at 22:41. Similar results are seen in the dog, cat and pig.

Test Conclusion
These tests conclude animal testing with venom. It shows no negative physiological or psychological effects, relaxes the animal, and opens it up to be obedient, docile and trusting. Next, I would like to run some tests on our Keter level and hostile SCPs, to see if we can tame, well, make them less bent on making humans and life on earth extinct.

These tests concluded all work regarding SCP-5356's effect on other animals. Three days later, Dr. Helson requested permission to test on humans, with the help of Dr. ████████████, the head researcher on SCP-5356. Permission was granted. 1 D-class personnel was delivered to Human Testing Room 3C.

Dr. Helson exits briefly, returning with D-9863, shackled at the ankles and wrists. He seats him down and attaches all necessary electrodes. Dr. ████████████ approaches D-9863, lifts their shirt sleeve.
Dr. ████████████: Now, this is a test vaccine we're going to try out. Don't worry, we have tested on over 50 subjects before and they have responded perfectly.
D-9863 winces slightly as Dr. ████████████ injects the venom. Dr. Helson starts the timer. Nothing happens for~4 minutes. At 04:23, D-9863 chuckles slightly, pupils dilating. Brain activity shows hightened levels or endorphins, serotonin and pre-frontal cortex activity decreasing slightly.
Dr. ████████████: Now, we're going to ask you some questions to see how you feel.
D-9863: (thinks for a while) Okey dokes! Did you know, I got arrested for murder?
Dr. ████████████: (makes note in notepad) Yes, we are aware. Do you think this vaccine is making you more relaxed? More open to divulge information?
D-9863: haha! Uhm… Imma be real man, I'm kinda [SWEAR] outta my mind right now! Also, I don't think I, uh, like, you know, told the police and stuff, but, uh… you know the 3 girls who dissapeared? Like, the kids of the guy i killed? Yea i said i didn't know where they went, but [At this point, D-9863 begins describing in great detail about the violent acts he committed and murder of his victim's children.]!
Dr. ████████████: (noting this down) Dr. Helson, the effect of the venom on humans seems to have the effect of reducing inhibition, highering happiness and stopping subjects from lying. An additional effect is the lowering in activity in the pre-frontal cortex, making subjects speak slower and in a slurred fashion. Please, D-9863, continue. What other crimes have you commited?
D-9863: Crimes? Uh…. oh. Yea. This, like, uh… one time i got suuuuper drunk. MAN! I was smashed to [SWEAR] bits bruh. And yea so I got home and like my brother was being annoying as [SWEAR], so i beat [DATA EXPUNGED] broke the bottle on his head then uh, yea i had to [DATA EXPUNGED] this lady who saw me do it.
Many partsSubject D-9863 continues on like this for several minutes, divulging all crimes and acquaintances they were connected to. After questioning, D-9863 is escorted by guard for termination.
Dr. Helson: Jesus christ, that guy. Well, is that enough data for my report, Dr. ████████████?
Dr. ████████████: I'm afraid not. We were only granted one D class subject, and unfortunately, it seems that they are not mentally capable or stable enough to conduct a meaningful interview. Hook me up and administer the venom. Try it on me and note the results.
Dr. Helson attaches the electrodes to Dr. ████████████'s skull and injects the venom. 4 minutes and 11 seconds pass before Dr. ████████████ senses the effects.
Dr. ████████████: Dr. Helson, it seems I am beginning to sense the effects of the venom. Note this down: my muscles are seeming to detract, my thought seems slurred and less effective, my legs are giving way slightly. Note that the feeling isn't dissimilar to being drunk. Please, interview me
Dr. Holsen: Uh… yep. All noted down. Alright. Now, this is going to be a preliminary question, just to test your awareness. What project are you currently working on?
Dr. ████████████: Ah. I can sense the effects increasing. Note that vision is also blured. To answer your question, right now I am working on, uh… (Thinks for a while) 6 projects I believe. At this point, the overseeing officer, realizing the gravity of what is being divulged to a low level doctor, activates the nerve agent in the room, killing the two doctors.

O-5 ██ special agent left a note concerning the turn of events, implementing a new rule prohibiting after work socializing for all SCP Foundation staff of a level higher than 4.
Due to the tragic turn of events, resulting in the death of Dr. Holsen, Dr. ████████████, Dr. Vebenwacher and the overseeing supervisor Research Assistant Frederick Gibson, all because of a leak of my full name, Site-19 now prohibits afterwork mingling involving any members of a security clearance above 4. My heart goes out to the poor scientists involved. Predicting this event and the repercussions of SCP-5356's effect was impossible.

Following this event, little was done concerning SCP-5356's capabilities, due to the sensitivity of the topic and how the original experiments ended. However, on 08/06/2020, Dr. Gabenhauser and Research Assistant Anton Handforth used aforementioned pending permission to run tests on SCP-682 to see their reactions to venom, if administered correctly. Permission is also pending to test on SCP-106.
