Item #: SCP-001

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-001 is kept within a 7m x 7m x 7m cubical within Site-18 that is to be maintained weekly by assigned Foundation staff for cleanliness. The entrance to the cubical is to be fitted a bolt-lock and the room is to be monitored by CCTV daily for any unusual activity from SCP-001.

Research and testing apparatus are permitted within SCP-001's containment cell with the approval of at least one Level 5 personnel.

Description: SCP-001 is a sarcophagus made of an unknown rock and is approximately 2.2m x 1.5m x 1.62m (rectangular-prism). This stone is darker in color than what would be considered usual for its density and has proven extraordinarily resistant to blunt force and explosive force — showing only minor chipping at ~36,700 PSI. Samples of this stone in which SCP-001-A is composed of have been brought into laboratory conditions and yielded no observable anomalous properties from regular stone aside from it's darker color.

The surface of SCP-001 appears to be embedded with several crystal-like gems at seemingly random positions with a prominent Foundation logo embedded into the center of the top surface. These stones emit a deep red glow when in darkness and take on several shapes and designs resembling Mandarin, Arabic, Cuneiform, and an unknown language (possibly just artistic designs.). However, one symbol is present 7 times across the surface. This specific design in question is strikingly similar to the Mandarin translation of Human (人的) and God (神) with the bottom cross-section between the two words are connected.

Infrared imaging of SCP-001 has revealed a humanoid-shaped entity residing within the sarcophagus (now referred to as SCP-001-1). SCP-001-1's frame is that of a male and is approximately 1.93m tall. It is theorized due to the sarcophagus' constant containment of SCP-001-1, SCP-001 has anomalous properties to suspend one's body of aging or atomic motion. (See SCP-001-C-5). How SCP-001-1 has continued living within SCP-001 without food or water is currently under further study.

Addendum 1 - Communication with SCP-001-1:
As of 10/27/2004 Foundation researcher Samuel K. Halsey reported several murmurs he assumed were from the interior of SCP-001. After approaching SCP-001, Samuel reports he was told: "I will return when I am needed, your eagerness is appreciated."

Further communication has been unsuccessful.
