SCP-XXXX "The Fingers"

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently contained within the specially constructed Research Site Alpha-Zeta-089 located alongside North Fork Mud Creek, Wyoming. Only one instance has of SCP-XXXX has been recorded. However, the possibility of other SCP-XXXX instances existing cannot be ruled out.

Due to the location of Research Site Alpha-Zeta-089 remaining far from civilization, a cover story is not necessary. As a result, all non-Foundation personnel approaching or sited near Research Site Alpha-Zeta-089 are to be questioned about their intentions and then administered Class-A amnesics and returned to their homes (if applicable).

SCP-XXXX itself is to be contained inside the inner courtyard for Research Site Alpha-Zeta-089 and must retain a direct line of observation to the sky. All Foundation personnel interacting with SCP-XXXX are to ignore its gestures and at no point observe the destination SCP-XXXX is pointing towards.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a disembodied humanoid forearm and right hand. The hand is approximately 19.17 cm in length (tip of middle finger to the base of palm) and 8.87cm in palm width and the forearm's dimensions is unknown, with only 4.7cm visible from the surface. SCP-XXXX currently remains embedded with the soil of its original location, with itself posing vertically.

Upon any sentient creature entering a radius of 5-7m to SCP-XXXX (now referred too as the Subject), SCP-XXXX will then point it's index finger upward at a seemingly random star. If the subject approaches SCP-XXXX during the day-time with the sun overhead by at least 7 degrees, then SCP-XXXX's index finger will point directly at the sun. During this time, if the subject diverts it's gaze to the star that is being pointed towards, they will then enter a trance-like state.

This trance-like state will cause the subject to be immobilized and unable to respond to any external stimuli. Facial expressions tend to change to a fascinated, pondering state. Subjects will remain in the position they were last in before being entranced, with their gaze continuing to follow their 'assigned' star. It should be noted that upon the eyes of the Subject deteriorating due to rigor-mortis, the skull of the Subject will orientate to face the assigned star.

Due to the accumulation of entrapped passer-byers to SCP-XXXX before containment, a small field of skeletons remain. Currently, the remaining number of skeletons and victims entrapped is 13, with the first recorded amount being 16.
