Item #: SCP-5565
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5565 is to be contained in a terrarium at Site-88 Section C Floor 19. During cleaning, SCP-5565 is to be placed into an empty holding cell. The glass of the terrarium must be bulletproof. The terrarium should be stocked with sparse plant life such as grasses or small flowers. A sprinkler system is to be installed inside the terrarium in the event of a fire. If the sprinklers are disabled, SCP-5565 is to be removed and placed in the temporary holding cell.
Description: SCP-5565-1 is a common garden slug (Arion hortensis). It is 12.5 cm in length. SCP-5565-1 is approximately as intelligent as an average human. It is capable of understanding and speaking English. Scans of SCP-5565-1 show no clear origin for its voice, as it has no vocal chords.
SCP-5565-2 shares more genetic similarities to a sea slug than a terrestrial slug. It has a flat, wide body. It measures 15.4 cm long. SCP-5565-2 can move at speeds of up to 45 mph. It is covered with a hard coating of mucus capable of resisting up to 3,000 PSI. SCP-5565-2 is capable of shooting a liquid stream of this mucus out of its mouth. When the mucus comes in contact with skin, it causes a burning sensation and leaves a rash.
SCP-5565 was first discovered by Agent Thosan on 9/18/1994 at Site-88, after she stepped on a slug. SCP-5565 confronted her soon after. Agent Thosan was attacked, and SCP-5565 was subsequently contained.
Agent Thosan is seen exiting Site-88 and lighting a cigarette. A minute later, she walks forward. She looks down, and notices she had stepped on a slug. She disregards it. Two minutes later, SCP-5565 appears.
SCP-5565-1: Abuse against slugs!
Agent Thosan: What? Who said that?
Agent Thosan is shot with mucus by SCP-5565-2. She draws her gun and looks around. SCP-5565-2 shoots again, hitting Thosan's exposed hand. She recoils, then looks down and notices SCP-5565. She holsters her gun and kicks SCP-5565-2 away.
SCP-5565-1: Abuse! Abuse!
Agent Thosan: What the hell is even happening right now?
SCP-5565-2 recovers and fires its mucus two more times, hitting her face and left eye.
Agent Thosan: Ow! Fuck!
Agent Thosan stumbles backwards and falls, unconscious. SCP-5565-1 climbs onto SCP-5565-2's back. SCP-5565 begins to leave. Three more agents exit the facility. Two help bring Agent Thosan inside. The third agent traps SCP-5565 inside a plastic box. Agent Thosan is escorted to the medical ward and SCP-5565 is put into a temporary containment cell.
Note: Taking into account Agent Thosan’s experience, further testing to confirm the radius of SCP-5565’s abilities is currently pending. Until then, all personnel are advised to not interact with any slugs seen within the area.
9/30/1994: SCP-5565-2 broke through the glass of its cell. Upon the test's conclusion, SCP-5565 was recaptured.
10/16/1994: SCP-5565-2 shot its mucus at the ground. It crawled at 24 mph past a rock, causing sparks as the tough mucus coat rubbed against it. The sparks landed on the mucus, igniting it and starting a large fire in the terrarium (at this time, there was much more foliage). SCP-5565 was removed from its cell. Before it was placed in temporary containment, SCP-5565 escaped. It was recovered after being found climbing up an elevator shaft. SCP-5565 attempted to breach containment this way two more times before the sprinkler system was implemented.
4/26/1997: SCP-5565-2 shot mucus at the sprinkler, disabling it. It then started another fire, resulting in its escape. It managed to make it to an emergency exit before being recontained.
9/03/2009: SCP-5565-2 rammed the glass five times, causing it to crack. It shot its mucus at the glass, waited for it to solidify, then rammed it again, shattering it. SCP-5565 was immediately recontained.
The following test occurred on 9/30/1994 and was overseen by Dr. Troy.
[Begin Log]
D-59301 stands in a small, empty testing room. A single slug is also in the room.
Dr. Troy: D-59301, pick up the slug and gently squeeze it.
D-59301: What? Alright, but why?
Dr. Troy: Don't kill it, but squeeze it just tight enough that it seems like it'd hurt.
D-59301: Okay…
Dr. Troy: Dr. Pietro, what's happening in SCP-5565's containment cell?
Dr. Pietro: Not much out of the ordinary.
Dr. Troy: D-59301, please kill the slug.
D-59301: Okay, I guess.
D-59301 drops the slug on the ground and steps on it. At this time, SCP-5565-2 rams through the glass of the containment cell. SCP-5565-1 climbs onto its back, and rides it through the halls. SCP-5565 arrives at the door to the testing facility.
Dr. Troy: Unlock and open the door.
D-59301 opens the door to the testing chamber and is shot by a stream of mucus from SCP-5565-2. D-59301 kicks SCP-5565-2 away, closes the door, and retreats back into the room.
Dr. Troy: Excellent. D-59301, report to the medical bay
[End Log]
Note: An identical test was conducted two days later, with the slug being replaced by a snail. SCP-5565 did not respond to the snail being killed.
The following is an interview conducted with SCP-5565-1 27 days after initial containment.
Interviewer: Dr. Troy
Interviewee: SCP-5565-1
[Begin Log]
Dr. Troy: So, SCP-5565-1. How are you feeling right now?
SCP-5565-1: Terrible. I've been trapped in your little prison for a month now!
Dr. Troy: I see. I'm sorry you feel that way. Moving on, how long have you been protecting slugs?
SCP-5565-1: I can't remember. A long time, I know that. All I know is that you need to let us out so we can keep fighting the good fight!
Dr. Troy: We can't do that. Letting a talking slug out into the world would be counter-intuitive to our organization's mission. Now, anyway, what can you remember about your past?
SCP-5565-1: I remember hatching alone, then I found my friend nearby. We knew our purpose the moment we hatched. Which we can't achieve if we're still-
Dr. Troy: I get it, you don't like being in containment. Let's continue; we'll be done soon.
SCP-5565-1 grumbles something inaudible.
Dr. Troy: Do you remember at all where you were when you hatched?
SCP-5565-1: Not really, no. There were a lot of trees, and a lake or river. I can't remember anything other than that.
Dr. Troy: I have one more question for you. Do you think you'll ever be able to make a difference in the world?
SCP-5565-1: I'm not stupid. I know that we'll never be able to change people's minds about how they treat creatures lower than them.
Dr. Troy: Alright, thank you for participating in the interview.
SCP-5565-1: It wasn't really something I had a choice in, was it?
Dr. Troy: I guess not, no.
SCP-5565-1 mumbles something again before being returned to containment.
[End Log]
Interviewer's note: SCP-5565-1 was surprisingly cooperative. I really didn't expect to get anything of value from it. It might be worth looking into its origin. Whatever laid the eggs that SCP-5565 hatched from would more than likely also be anomalous.

Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Site-164 has been constructed around SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX-1 is an oval-shaped lake located in the North-Eastern United States. It is 24,900 feet in diameter and 6.83 feet deep at its lowest point. There are seven large islands in SCP-XXXX-1 which are identical in shape to the seven continents on Earth. The northern and southern points of SCP-XXXX-1 are coated in ice, identical to Earth's polar ice caps. The water found in SCP-XXXX-1 is primarily saltwater, although there are small amounts of freshwater found on the islands.
SCP-XXXX-1 contains an ecosystem of microorganisms, designated SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-2 instances resemble mundane aquatic and semi-aquatic life forms reduced to microscopic sizes. No purely terrestrial life forms are present in SCP-XXXX-1. The largest SCP-XXXX-2 instance, a blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus), measured 0.204 inches.
Actions done to SCP-XXXX do not affect Earth. However, actions done to Earth do affect SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX experiences tropical storms, the effects of acidic rain, and the effects of global warming identical to Earth. Personnel have been able to use SCP-XXXX to better observe marine phenomena.
