Item #: SCP-4109

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:

The remains of SCP-4109 are to remain within a containment domicile1 at all times. Removal of the entity's remains into the world at large will result in immediate containment breach!

The entity's remains comprise of the following items:

  1. A human skeleton (female, unidentified).
  2. A handmade ring.
  3. A green flower vase.

The location of the above items is critical to the safe containment of the entity. When gathered together, the remains permanently bind the entity to the interior of their enclosing containment domicile. Removal of any one of the items, in whole or in part, will unbind the entity from its containment domicile, allowing for its unfettered movement. Returning the remains to a suitable domicile will rebind the entity to the interior space containing its remains.

Under no circumstances should the skeleton be buried, cremated, or otherwise disposed of, as such actions could make containment impossible.

In the unlikely event that the entity requires relocation, follow the procedures outlined in Addendum-4109-B.

Description:

SCP-4109 is an entity tethered to this dimension via its remains. The entity appears as a colorless, semitransparent human visage residing within small, dark spaces. Cracks in walls, partially opened closets, and shower drains are common locations where the entity often appears. The entity demonstrates a reluctance to appear in larger openings, such as doorways, though it has been documented to appear in windows on rare occasions.

When appearing inside a small, dark space, the entity does not obey the spacial laws of this dimension. The entity is able to move about within the darkened area as if it were an infinitely large space, regardless of its physical dimensions in this world.

The existence of the entity came to the attention of the Foundation in 1987, the same year it first encountered by ██████████, hereto referred to as Witness 1. While removing carpet in the basement of his home, Witness 1 discovered a recessed section of flooring showing evidence of tampering. Curious, Witness 1 removed the flooring and discovered the remains of the entity hidden there. Based on the testimony of Witness 1, the act of discovery appears to have activated the dimensional tether between the remains and the entity.

Addendum-4109-A: Domicile Criteria

The domicile containing SCP-4109 must meet all of the following criteria.

  • Must be large enough to fully enclose the anomaly's remains.
  • Must be intended to shelter and house a living creature on a semi-permanent basis. A shelter meant for temporary visits generally will not suffice, though there are exceptions. The intent of the domicile's prior owner strongly influences the viability of the domicile as a containment unit. Consider the following examples:
    • A hotel room lived in by a squatter may successfully contain the entity.
    • A hotel room lived in by tourists several days at a time will not contain the entity.
    • A house lived in for several years by a single owner will contain the entity.
    • A recreation vehicle lived in by a retiree who travels from campsite to campsite will successfully contain the entity.
    • A tent used by an amateur outdoors man once every year will not contain the entity.
