*Special Containment Procedures:* SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a secure locker at Site-██. Testing is to be done with two (2) armed guards in the room. Testing of SCP-XXXX is not to be done with D-Class convicted of violent crimes. Testing of SCP-XXXX may only be done with prior permission from a level four (4) site director.

*Description:* SCP- XXXX is an ornate dagger of little known origin. The item was first recovered after a raid on an MC&D facility. The only file mentioning SCP-XXXX that has been recovered is that containing a summary of the SCP (see Addendum XXXX-2). In order for SCP-XXXX's effects to take place it must be held by an organism humanoid in nature. When activated the tip of the blade can rise to a temperature of approximately 18,000 degrees Celsius¹. Flames lit by SCP-XXXX do not require any source of fuel as long as they are in an approximately 50 meter radius of SCP-XXXX.

[ The Item was recovered after a cave exploration in █████, ████ when 14 of the explorers went missing. Later exploration determined that 8 of the missing explorers had been turned to stone and the others mutilated (hence the name "the dwelling of the basilisks"²). During this second exploration was when the Item was found 30 meters away from one of the deceased explorers. The land containing the known entrance has been bought and the witnesses amnesticized. Authorization for further exploration is pending.]

1. The temperature can be changed via the one currently wielding the dagger. The intensity at which the flames burn can also be manipulated by the wielder.
