**SCP ENTRY DRAFT: The Grinning Raptor **
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
Entity is to be kept chained at all times. Two sets of chains are to be used, regularly inspected for damage, and regularly replaced. Entity is to be fed raw meat once weekly using a drone.
BINDING:
The entity must be shackled at the neck, wrists, ankles and tail. The chains on the neck should hold the entity's head in place. The chains on the wrists should hold the entity's hands in a palm-up position behind its back. The chains on the ankles should pin the entity's feet to the ground,
and the chains on the tail should be positioned to prevent the entity from striking with it.
There should be no slack in any of the chains and the shackles should fit tightly, as the intent is to totally immobilize.
STRENGTH REQUIREMENTS:
One set of chains must be made of 99.2% pure titanium, and must be replaced at least once every six months. The other must be made of high tensile steel (HT690 or HT740 recommended), and must be replaced at least once every month. The chains are to be affixed by MIG welding to shackles of the same materials on one end, and to force-dispersion plates embedded in concrete chamber walls at the other.
INSPECTION:
Chains, shackles and chamber walls are to be inspected once a week for signs of cracking, stretching, or other strain damage. If damage to the chains or shackles is detected, they should be replaced immediately. If damage to the walls is detected, additional chains are to be temporarily affixed
to the entity while the damaged wall is demolished and reconstructed.
Description:
PHYSICAL:
Entity is a bipedal, endothermic vertebrate that stands 1.7 meters at the shoulder and is 2.5 meters long from nose to tail. The entity's bone structure most closely resembles a bipedal dinosaur, such as the deinonychus, but it's head and face most resemble a human's.
The hands have three digits and opposable thumbs, but the entity has some difficulty grabbing small objects due to the presence of a large talon on each digit. The feet likewise have talons, including a large sickle claw like the one found on the aforementioned dinosaur.
The entity's skin is similar to human skin, being thick, soft, and oily, and is pale pink in color. The entity is also very hot to the touch, and it is estimated that it's internal temperature can go as high as 57 centigrade.
The entity's eyes are red and bloodshot. Entity does posses eyelids, but very rarely blinks. It does not possess cheeks or lips. Instead, the mouth opens all the way to the back of the gums, and the teeth are perpetually bared. This gives it a perpetual "grinning" expression. It is also worth noting that the size and sharpness of the teeth are in excess of what would be expected in a predatory animal.
BEHAVIOR:
Entity is extremely hostile, apparently motivated by the urge to hunt, kill, and eat humans.
Although it does not display signs of intelligence beyond that of any predatory animal, it is capable of mimicking human speech. Hunting targets are picked apparently at random, but the entity will always choose humans rather than other animals. Once it has chosen a target, it will recognize that target for an indeterminate amount of time afterwards, and will begin to enact hunting behavior towards them. Entity may be targeting up to an unknown number of people at once.
When in the presence of one of its targets, the entity will make every effort to stalk and kill them. If it is incapacitated, it will continue to stare at the target without blinking. If the target speaks, the entity will attempt to mimic the words. Its voice is high pitched and raspy. While in general it can enunciate very well, it has trouble with some languages, including Chinese. There is no other reaction to attempts at communication, and it will only mimic the sounds of its targets.
ANOMALOUS:
Entity is extremely strong for a creature of its size, capable of ripping apart standard steel with its hands, and could easily kill a human with blunt trauma. Despite that, it's preferred method of killing seems to be evisceration. Entity does not require food or sleep. While entity does experience pain, it possesses super fast regeneration, and has recovered from severe head trauma and a broken neck, sustained while a capture team attempted to defend themselves. Entity does not expel any solid or liquid waste, and it is speculated that 100% of what it consumes is converted into body heat.
HISTORY:
Entity was discovered while foundation teams were investigating the XXXXXXXXX site in XXXXXXX, XXXXXXXXXXXXXX. The site, previously unknown to the foundation, was detected recently due to the large amount of XXXXXXXXXXXXX it emitted. When teams arrived at the site, they found it abandoned, and computer systems totally non-functional. The entity had been contained using analog means, but had already broken out at the time of the teams' arrival. It is unknown whether or not the entity's escape contributed to the site's abandonment.
The entity began to hunt foundation team members, and killed over half of them before it was subdued. The remaining team members managed to suspend the entity from a chain around its neck in the shaft of a stairwell, breaking its neck (which it survived), and gaining enough time to request backup and containment materials.
EXPERIMENT RESULTS:
Experiment: Food was withheld indefinitely, to determine if entity would weaken.
Result: After 13 days without food, entity went into a berserk rage and breached containment. It succeded in shattering or pulling apart all of it's chains, and had pried the chamber door mostly open when 8 containment personel arrived on scene. It quickly slaughtered all of them, did not attempt to eat any of the corpses, and began stalking around the facility. The building was evacuated, except for several essential personel, and locked down. Over the next half hour, while a strike team was being assembled, the entity failed to find any more prey and the frenzy wore off. The entity then returned to the previously killed and began to feed. The strike team was able to surprise and subdue it at this time.
Experiment: Eight different sedatives have been tested on the entity.
Result: XXXX, XXXX, XXXXXX, XXXX, and XXXXX had no effect. XXXX and XXXXXX triggered entity to go into a frenzy, and nearly caused further containment breaches. However, the rage caused by XXXX was very short lived and entity became marginally more docile for the minutes following. XXXXX caused the entity to produce a sound similar to manic laughter, which a technician described as "extremely unsettling".
Experiment: DNA and blood type test
Result: [redacted]
