Description: SCP-XXX is a unique cognitohazard that is capable of expressing itself as both a meme and an antimeme. Approximately 43% of the time SCP-XXX displays antimemetic properties, 57% of the time displaying memetic properties.

Testing has shown that repeated exposure to SCP-XXX will always have the same effect, either memetic or antimemetic, upon individuals. There has been no common factor found between subjects affected memetically and antimemetically. Additionally, the strength of SCP-XXX’s effect varies from person to person. Research is ongoing.

SCP-XXX was recovered from Site-██ in 196█ following several days of radio silence, whereupon MTF-η-10 was sent to secure the Site.

Rough plot summary:

Upon arrival several head researchers of the Site had been found to have established a cultic hierarchy worshipping ██████. After interviewing and restraining affected personnel, administration of Class-B amnestics proved successful in mitigating the effects of SCP-XXX.

The team then proceeded to secure all instances of SCP-XXX, after initiating the Site’s emergency redactive protocols, confining it to a single secure document.

Later it was discovered that approximately 21% of personnel were missing from the Site, including Site Director ██████ █████████. A thorough scan indicated that no humanoid remains were located on or around the Site. This, coupled with the inability of several researchers to recall the events that had transpired at the Site prior to administration of amnestics, led to the conclusion that either SCP-XXX had possessed secondary antimemetic qualities, or an independent anomaly had affected the Site.

After several weeks of investigation, the Antimemetics Division managed to reverse the antimemetic effects of SCP-XXX. All affected personnel had expired from dehydration, except for the Site Director, who had survived via [REDACTED].
