- STUFF I'M HOLDING FOR THE FUTURE
hi! i have three karma bars and i'm not sure how i did that solely by voting and commenting.
i said i didn't plan on writing for the site but that changed when i had an epiphany in the wee hours of four twenty that, weirdly enough, did NOT occur under the influence of any substance. you'll find that on the next tab!
OH SHIT OH FUCK
this is inspired by MZL-1730, the "shattered glass" sub-mythos of transformers, habil and qabil, kalinin's proposal, and a couple of other things that escape me at the moment for some reason. but also the fact that my circadian rhythm straight up doesn't work at times and thus i'm awake on a 28 hour clock.
THE PREMISE
the foundation, but it's run by alternate universe versions of all those WACKY SKIPS you've come to love. they realize that their own anomalous nature makes them dangerous so they start a secret organization to protect the world from both themselves and other anomalies. at the same time, some of your favorite SCP Wiki characters are `gasp!` now anomalies themselves! and find themselves contained by those very same SCP objects! HOW VERY WILD
SCP articles, sites, MTFs, et cetera, will have a Σ in their name to certify they are a part of this canon.
what i intend to do to set this apart from other "mirror universe" concepts is the fact that a lot of the characters are shades of grey, instead of explicitly good or evil. the SCP Foundation wiki is already good at creating both foundation personnel that aren't explicitly good guys trying to create a better world, or anomalies that aren't explicitly A Thing That Kills You. there's lots of layers to the vast majority of the characters on this site, and i think this is a great way to both A) explore those layers in a new way for some characters, and B) apply character tenets to others and allow them to develop in a "mirror universe" environment. so a character like clef can, as an SCP object, can evolve as a Type-Green reality bender who still knows more about Type-Greens than anyone else; on the other hand, SCP-049 can now become a respected doctor of anomalous diseases specializing in those that cause vivification in dead tissue.
THE CATCH
- not every SCP suddenly becomes a member of foundation personnel. make it make sense. i have plans for some of the SCPs, sure, but like… 173 isn't suddenly some senior researcher in a labcoat publishing studies on AWCY? or whatever. as you'll see, i do want to do things with a few skips / GOI people, and there's a lot of possibility to explore ideas for others i don't mention here. but at the same time, i have plans for 096 and 3008 that don't see them suddenly becoming "good guys".
- likewise, not every foundation member suddenly becomes an SCP. i would rather explore the relationships that already exist between named characters and some SCP objects than do just a flat alignment flip and call it a day. so yeah, clef is an SCP, as is crow, but like… does every author insert need to be? probably not. unless, again, you can make it make sense.
so basically, yeah, this is not just "the inmates run the asylum", because we already did that, and it was really good. this is also not just "evil guys good and good guys evil", because that would be boring.
the veil still matters
just because the foundation is made up of AU skips now doesn't mean that Anomalous Is The New Normal or whatever. the skips created the foundation to protect the normal veiled world from themselves and other anomalies. they have a mission to secure, contain, and protect, just like before. it's just a different group doing those things.
the command structure still exists
there's still O5s, there's still an ethics committee, there's still MTFs and RAISA. it's just different people in those spots now. hell, some of those people aren't even anomalous!
D-class still exist, BUT
this is not series 1 SCP, and again, this is not an evil group of SCPs doing research. and no, the D-class aren't alignment-flipped characters either. they serve the same purpose as unfortunate guinea pig / redshirt combos, in the end.
try to stay away from other alt-canons
overall, this should develop on its own as much as possible. i'd like to stay away from things like Ad Astra, End of Death, Team Bird, and other canons, if only to avoid too much clash. perhaps they can get their own SG versions at some point after the canon has established itself on its own terms.
most of all, this foundation is STILL cold, not cruel
these are not monsters. this new foundation is humans with an interest in the anomalous from a scientific standpoint. they have ideals, but they are grounded in the realism of what they are dealing with. these are not SCPs out to destroy humanity for their own sick ends; likewise, these are not SCPs out to torture the objects in their protection.
consider all names "working titles"
the foundation
Dr. Lawrence Oldman
Site Director, Site-Σ-19.
Head of the Extradimensional Research Department.
one of the founding members of the foundation as it exists, but turned down a role on the O5 Council to focus on his research. exposed to an anomaly sometime during WWI which gave him the abilities to access a pocket dimension and phase through solid matter, along with functional immortality. the cost of this is his constant biological "rust", and the production of a dark mucus that can rapidly corrode and oxidize any surface. this forces him to wear experimental steel mesh under his clothing to stop him from decaying the environment around him.
Dr. Jack Bright
Site Director, Site-Σ-17.
Head of the Foundation Classification Standards Department.
Senior Researcher, Foundation Genetics & Bioengineering Department
still not allowed to do many things at the foundation.
the SCP Wiki's own personal deadpool (tragic past and complex character flanderized into memes) is mostly unchanged. he was already an SCP and a researcher, so he existed on both sides of the fence. however, with the alignment flip, his brother is no longer SCP-590, and he was instead recruited simply for his experience with bioengineering. when called over to assist with initial testing on SCP-Σ-963 (which for right now is pretty much just SCP-963), he accidentally bonded to it, just like in prime. the change here is that he now has multiple other functionally-immortal staff to help him cope, which has allowed a more power-hungry attitude to develop. unfortunately for him, he's still too mischievous to be taken too seriously.
Dr. Bartholomew Artz
Senior Researcher, Site-Σ-19.
Dean of the Foundation's Center for Anomalous Disease Research, American branch. (Emeritus dean of the French branch.)
the most mysterious of all senior staff at the foundation, dr. artz has been around since the black plague. he's seen debilitating diseases come and go, both anomalous and mundane. he's studied them for as long as he can remember. but he's never been able to find a suitable answer to his own question… how can he permanently end the Pestilence? though he's a founding member of the foundation, and has risen to one of its dominant minds in the fields of anomalous microbiology, it seems not even these people have the answers to his questions. but there are many questions to be asked of him, with his own unusual biology that not even he remembers the answers to, and his ability to cure any living being of any mundane disease simply by touching their bare skin to his hand. (an ability he prefers not to use, as he prefers the thrill of solving medical mysteries!)
Dr. Anna Lang
Senior Researcher, Site-Σ-120, on loan to Site-Σ-19.
Member of Extradimensional Research Department.
Cassandra Dixon
Senior Researcher, Site-Σ-19.
GOI Research Specialist for GOI-Σ-XXXX "Are We Cool Yet?"
how do you give a sentient drawing a doctorate? well, you don't, but she has a master's in fine arts, and she's one of the most studied SCP personnel in the field of anart. it helps when you yourself are anart! created after an AWCY? hopeful used SCP-Σ-914 to attempt to create "the most beautiful portrait ever created", and instead made her. this led to the containment of 914, the discovery of cassy's ability and intelligence, and the amnesticization (sp?) of the artist in question. after testing and research, it was decided that she would be a vital addition to the staff due to a recent explosion in anart events around the world.
Dr. Heather Mason
Junior Researcher, Site-Σ-64.
GOI Research Specialist for GOI-Σ-5869 "Gamers Against Weed". GOI Research Liaison for GOI-Σ-XXXX "Arcadia".
previously a teenager in an dysfunctional household, heather joined GAW while in college looking for a little direction. instead, she found herself with a CRT TV for a head, and the ability to communicate with and temporarily alter the programming of video games. after meeting (A CHARACTER) in the late 90s, she joined the foundation first as a Level-4 while finishing her doctorate in electrical engineering. she hasn't worked her way up the chain, but she doesn't want to — she's already overworked, with her irons in the fires of any video game anomalies that come through the foundation, including the not-well-researched Σ version of arcadia, as well as being tapped for her personal experience with GAW.
Dr. Mary Nakayama
Director, RAISA.
Ulysses S. Donkman
Command operative, ΣMTF-Alpha-4 "Pony Express".
Consultant, Foundation Department of Historical Anomalies, American branch.
Assistant researcher, Site-Σ-73.
Abel
Command operative, ΣMTF-Omega-1 "Black Right Hand".
Kali
Operative, ΣMTF-Xi-4 "Contest of Gods".
Murderer™
in the prime timeline, they're SCP-4866. in the Σ universe, they make up ΣMTF-Tau-5 "Samsara".
SORCERER.aic
Consultant AI construct who assists with researching AIs built on older hardware architecture.
MISSJ.aic
AI construct that helps to compile information from Foundation webcrawlers regarding Internet and multimedia anomalies that specifically target children and teenagers.

SCP-Σ-096

SCP-Σ-4000
so 4000 is still the same taboo, but the tie to the Σ universe is dr. placeholder. Σ placeholder didn't just enrage some 4000 demigod, he IS a 4000 demigod who stole the identity and body of a Σ universe junior researcher.
SCP-Σ-4823
the macguffin for the first tale i plan on writing for the canon. essentially, the site-17 staff find this multiversal portal to the banana dimension after it's already been wrecked by the prime SCP foundation. that's not as important, it's just going to be used to introduce the canon and its characters.
(note: though most GOIs will exist in some form or another, i imagine, i wanted to start with both some of the big names and some personal favorites)
Gamers Against Weed
libright reddit/4chan/kiwi hybrid.
AWCY?
explicity libleft guerilla art group that target both fundamentalist conservatives and the 1%.
Church of the Broken God
maxwellism doesn't exist yet! but the church still does, and they're otherwise unchanged. however, they're less openly hostile to both other GOIs and the foundation.
Arcadia
remember how prime arcadia tried to use Actual Satan to make computer games? Σ universe arcadia instead cut a deal with the dying Abrahamic God (think the Σ version of SCP-2621) to channel faith energy to Him in exchange for success in the video game industry. as a consequence, many of arcadia's products are anomalous, just like in the prime universe.
Global Occult Coalition
if the Σ foundation is the vigilante superhero group, the GOC is the government organization trying to shut them down. funded directly by the UN, the GOC threaten the existence of all anomalies on the planet, as well as the integrity of the Veil. unlike the uneasy alliance the prime foundation has with the GOC, Σ-GOC have declared a cold war against Σ-SCP.
Dr. Wondertainment / The Factory
one and the same. wondertainment and the factory are essentially an 80s toy company, attempting to take advantage of kids in any way possible by selling them anomalous toys and games of dubious quality and safety standards. not keen on the foundation's attempt to interfere with their business, nor their containment (and sometimes employment!) of their products, Dr. Corbin Wondertainment has worked tirelessly to frustrate Σ-SCP.
Parawatch
Σ-Parawatch is in fact an open front of the foundation in this universe, managed by a character / AIC pair to be named later.
UIU
the UIU still exists in this world, but are massively understaffed and underfunded. Σ-UIU now retain a positive working relationship with Σ-SCP, as the latter is more than willing to do the dirty work (and paperwork) when it comes to handling the anomalous. in exchange, Σ-SCP has access to the extensive government archives of the FBI and Σ-UIU, which has been a massive help in documenting and cross-referencing anomalies.
WWS
i really want WWS to not only remain unchanged, but fill the void of "whimsical and fun GOI" left by wondertainment being made evil. fae can keep her tragic backstory, but now she has an SCP Foundation not hamstringing her with bad bureaucracy and disrespectful personnel.
dado
dr. spanko is dado.
- object classes are the same
- objects are formatted SCP-Σ-XXXX to denote they are part of the new universe. this is accepted in canon. (in fact, i plan on making an SCP-Σ about this being a patahazard in the universe.)
- maybe this would have its own theme?
the O5s
i don't want to reveal really anything about the O5 council until the Σ universe has established a footing. but i have some ideas about the SCPs that made it onto the council!
ones i know i want: SCP-035, SCP-4333
ones i DON'T WANT: SCP-993
SCP-173
holy crap, how do you even… flip 173? wasn't there that one SCP where it was essentially a prison of 173s and one of them had broken free and that's the peanut we all know and love? but then there's the idea that it could be an AWCY? sculpture. bruh, idk.
SCP-682
this one's gonna be way easier than 173. i'd like 682 to be the first "arc villain" of the Σ universe. maybe they're uncontained and the first big tale is the attempt to finally bring them in. probably could be inspired by "the heart of the beast", an unfounded canon tale by aismallard. no matter what, Σ-682 still isn't nice.
SCP-Σ-001
this is a multiversal portal that connects the Σ universe to the prime foundation universe.
Sarkicism
oof. i already plan on really not flipping broken god. but what can you do differently with Cthulhu Body Horror Religion? maybe this is something i can workshop with more experienced writers.
