Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained in a 3m x 3m x 3m, dimly illuminated cell lined with lead-calcium alloy (5% calcium) plating in the psychokinetic ward of Foundation Site 43. Temperature within the cell is maintained at 26°C (80.6°F) and humidity levels above 70%. Air vents are equipped with MERV 13 or greater air filters that are replaced monthly at the times of SCP-XXXX's feedings. The door to the cell is locked at all times with exception of supervised experimentation and the monthly feeding schedule of 8 grams of fine wood pulp mixed in 20 milliliters of water to be poured over SCP-XXXX. Personnel responsible for feeding and filter replacement must wear P99 or P100 respiratory masks. Personnel may only enter the cell under surveillance and must register the time and date of entrance and exit of the cell in the log book outside of the cell, making note of any appearance of SCP-XXXX-1 if an entity is perceived. Personnel that enter SCP-XXXX's cell must be decontaminated immediately with a 1.5% accelerated hydrogen peroxide spray upon exit.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an intelligent, potentially sentient specimen of slime mold strongly resembling the species Stemonitis Sporangia that is unnaturally growing from a block of concrete. The height of the mold is approximately 18 mm with 12 mm being sporangium and 6 mm attributed to the stalks. The colony grows in a rough circle approximately 30 mm in diameter at its widest and 22 mm in diameter at its thinnest.

SCP-XXXX was originally found growing in an abandoned wood mill in the riverside town of Orono, Maine after a local paper reported a local stray feline that did not appear in photographic or video media. At the time, SCP-XXXX was growing on the concrete floor on the basement level where it was extracted.

SCP-XXXX-1 is the anomalous effect of SCP-XXXX and is in fact not an entity. SCP-XXXX-1 cannot be detected or touched by instruments of measurement and is therefore not real. Despite this, SCP-XXXX-1 is most frequently perceived as a female calico feline. SCP-XXXX-1 is a hallucination caused by SCP-XXXX through electromagnetic waves emitted from the body of mold at a frequency of 250 GHz that interact with the spores inhaled by the afflicted individual that lodge themselves within the body. The infection range of SCP-XXXX's spores is approximately 500 meters from the body of mold and the effective range of the electromagnetic wave is 3 kilometers.

Prolonged exposure to the spores allow for SCP-XXXX-1 to be perceived as a number other forms and allows SCP-XXXX control over the victim's immune system. Afflicted subjects may experience autoimmune attacks that may prove lethal. Any entity perceived within the room with SCP-XXXX has the potential to be SCP-XXXX-1. Check the personnel log times for staff entering and exiting the cell in the case of finding personnel within the chamber. Personnel that interact with SCP-XXXX or SCP-XXXX-1 for extended periods of time are to be psychologically evaluated, treated for a fungal parasite, and reassigned.

Known forms of SCP-XXXX-1

  • Calico feline
  • Chocolate Labrador retriever
  • Dr. Rochelle Witlach
  • Black bear

Though the other forms of SCP-XXXX-1 are documented, it most frequently takes the form of the calico cat. It is hypothesized the reasoning is to keep victims within SCP-XXXX's spore range for longer periods of time for heightened rates of infection. The greater the level of infection within an individual, the more personalized the hallucination may become.

SCP-XXXX-1 is generally docile unless SCP-XXXX is directly approached or cell conditions are not to SCP-XXXX's preference. SCP-XXXX-1 will become agitated and will begin to hiss, scratch, and bite if the subject does not halt the approach of SCP-XXXX. If a subject perceives SCP-XXXX-1 causing them harm, abrasions and rashes will form in the area on the subjects body. The harm is not a direct effect of SCP-XXXX-1. Perception of the injury causes an autoimmune reaction that creates the effect of harm. If SCP-XXXX-1 expresses the action of causing injury, but is not seen by the victim of doing so, no harm will appear on the victim as SCP-XXXX-1 is not real and cannot hurt them. Subjects that are being medicated for autoimmune diseases have extreme resistance to the autoimmune effects of SCP-XXXX. Prolonged exposure to the spores of SCP-XXXX causes the autoimmune effects to drastically increase to include growths that can potentially prove lethal.

Experiments to determine the strength and effects of SCP-XXXX were undergone with D-class personnel D-6941, resulting in the death of D-6941. The pertinent daily logs of D-6941 are attached, along with the pertinent logs of the overseeing doctor, Dr. Witlach.
