Item #: SCP-5195
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5195 is to be kept within a 1 X 1 meter container filled with liquid nitrogen (LN2) at a constant temperature of 12°C. Any instances of SCP-5195-1 are to be terminated and the container's overall temperature lowered by 0.2°C. Hostile instances of SCP-5195-2 are to be terminated. Any docile instances of SCP-5195-2 are to be kept in a standard 6 X 6 meter concrete cell and provided with one (1) sheep's corpse per month.
Description: SCP-5195 is an obsidian disc 5 centimetres in diameter, inscribed with an as of yet indecipherable Ancient Egyptian name encircled with a cartouche. There is a deep fracture across the inscribed face. Approximately once a month, instances of SCP-5195-1 emerge from SCP-5195, which resemble translucent black fungus. After two (2) hours, black spores begin to be produced from the tips of SCP-5195-1. At this stage, any solid coming into prolonged contact with SCP-5195-1 will convert into the same unknown material that makes the subject up. Tissue samples have yet to be tested, but the material resembles carbon. After a full day (24 hours) passes, any contact between SCP-5195-1 or SCP-5195 and a living organism instantly converts the organism into an instance of SCP-5195-2 (see attached photograph - sketch of SCP-5195-2 and subject in dormant state). Viewing instances of SCP-5195-2 for prolonged periods of time causes retinal damage, and attempted photography results in destruction of instrument used. After another full day, SCP-5195 stops production of SCP-5195-1 and becomes dormant for one (1) month. It is safe to handle in its dormant state.
