Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid / Thaumiel
Special Containment Procedures: Relatively low containment security required. Item can transfer itself to other parchment in specific conditions. Kept in center of small room. Regularly checked through video surveillance. Requires social interaction for morale purposes. Although sentient, it is unable to ingest, secrete, suffocate, or suffer from illness, requiring only a transfer of parchment every 3 months and daily interaction with staff to be kept content.
Description: Item appears to be a female humanoid trapped in or made of parchment. It is unknown how this specimen came into existence. When current parchment gets significantly damaged, a replacement is required. However, more frequent replacements are recommended to keep it satisfied with current surroundings. It has referred to itself with female pronouns and appears pleased when staff do so, but has no preference on a specific title. Staff have decided to refer to it as either its number or by the name “Smokey”. It is capable of adding new items to its habitat before entering and appears to undergo small, voluntary appearance changes on occasion while transferring. Specimen is capable of both communication in English and sign language. It can process what you do and say in front of it and has an affinity for learning new tasks from staff. Item does feel physical and mental fatigue but it is unclear whether sleeping is a choice or requirement. When placed against new parchment, it may begin to transfer itself by drawing its new chosen environment and appearance. Currently it has only chosen to put a dog house in its habitat. Specimen is currently depressed after attempting to make a dog in most recent transfer. It appears that the specimen cannot make living things. Early transfer may be permitted if depression continues. The only known possible addition to the parchment after transfer appears to be short-lived smoke, which can emit from the specimen’s fingers when rubbed together. “Smokey” has developed significant bonds with staff and is theoretically capable of a normal life if escorted. No clear difference in behavior from a normal human being. Has voiced a dislike of being inside of paper. Specific staff members are sent to soothe the specimen when similar breakdowns occur. Has helped staff monitor other Euclid-class specimen and is not effected by their abilities. Has communicated with and befriended other specimen. It has been considered to employ “Smokey”, but was rejected because of —redacted—. Transferring time varies.
Notable Information: Sentient. Enjoys learning and communicating. Cannot make living things. New transfer every 3 months. Can emit smoke from fingers for unknown reason, hence nickname given by staff. Virtually no difference in mental capacity from a normal human being. Is not effected by the abilities of other specimen and is capable of helping staff monitor other sentient specimen. Does feel pain if parchment is damaged, but can transfer from a partial paper. Tearing away from specimen does shrink its environment. Will not be employed as a staff member.
