Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is kept in a 5m x 5m containment cell. SCP-XXXX is situated inside a household shrine cabinet, 43x38x18 inches in diameter, made of Chinese Elm. Twice daily, mornings and evenings, two Foundation staff of Buddhist faith must enter SCP-XXXX’s containment cell with two small bowls of fruit and two incense sticks. After removing the remains of the previous day’s offerings, both must bow to the altar before placing the bowls of fruit in front of SCP-XXXX and placing the lit incense sticks in the holder provided. They must bow again and invite The Great Sage Equal to Heaven to accept their humble offerings before bowing a final time and leaving the containment cell.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 12" bronze statue of a monkey dressed in ancient Chinese garb and holding a staff. SCP-XXXX was bought to the SCP Foundation on May ██, 19██ by an elderly Chinese man dressed in green silk garments similar to those worn by Chinese nobility during the T’ang Dynasty (circa 618-907 CE). The man handed SCP-XXXX to a guard at the gates of site-██ along with a set of containment instructions later determined to be in an ancient dialect of Chinese and translated accordingly. The man was heard to mutter something which was roughly translated to “he’s your problem now” before walking away. Attempts to identify and locate this man have been unsuccessful.

Addendum: All staff working at site ██ are advised that fresh peaches will no longer be available in the staff cafeteria and staff are advised not to bring any from home as they will be confiscated by security staff. See Incident report SCP-XXXX-a
