Corrosive Hourglass
rating: 0+x

Item #: SCP-5106

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5106 is kept in a standart containment cell at Site-72. it's cell is checked once a month for any significant damage. Physical contact with SCP-5106 is rectricted with the exception of D-class during an experiment. Confirmation from at least 2 researchers with level 3 clearence is required for testing to take place.

Description: SCP-5106 is an hourglass with remarkable features in its construction. It was found in an abandoned house in the countryside of █████. The glass consists of three sections and is extremely durable. The top bulb is designated as Section 1 which stays empty unless something makes physical contact with SCP-5106. The center bulb is designated as Section 2 which calibrates the time it will take for the sand to reach Section 3 which is what the bottom bulb is designated as and is also where the sand will come to a stop. When physical contact is made with SCP-5106 the glass will rotate 180° on its Y axis and sand will start to fall from Section 1 into Section 2. During this time visible sign of corrosion will begin to show starting from the object/material's point of physical contact with the glass and steadily corrode the rest of it.

The amount of time required for sand to travel from Section 1 to 3 depends on the object's immune system or the material's resistance.

Test log 1: Subject D-68458 is instructed to touch an apple to SCP-5106 and wait until the sand stopped moving when it reached Section 3. Subject touched SCP-5106 with the apple but refused to hold it there after seeing the apple's condition getting worse the longer he held it there. Despite the apple not being held against the glass its condition continued to get worse. A dark-green goo was all that was left of the apple after the all the sand had stopped at Section 3.

Test log 2: A fresh apple and a stale apple is touched to SCP-5106 at the same time. Its observed that the stale apple corroded much faster than the fresh apple. A fresh apple was touched to an already corroded apple and corrosion didn't spread from corroded apple to fresh apple.

Test log 3: Subject D-67532 was instructed to touch the glass of SCP-5106 and after doing so showed signs of intense pain and panic. In a state of panic subject made attempts to destroy SCP-5106 by throwing it to the ground and kicking it however no visible damage was observed on SCP-5106 and this act only seemed to make the corrosion progress faster. Corrosion proggressively moved to the subject's torso from the left hand and right foot which were the limbs used to try and damage SCP-5106. Subject expired █ hours after making physical contact with SCP-5106. The rest of the subject's body was too corroded for autopsy.
