Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be detained when detected. Due to the erratic nature of SCP-XXXX, total containment is impossible. As it is, SCP-XXXX poses no inherent negative effects overall, and requires only to be observed cautiously. In the event that this delicate balance is misaligned, methods below may be employed.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the designation of a sentient supernatural entity, which, fulfilling a certain set of requirements, will contact a human target, henceforth known as SCP-XXXX-1. Said requirements are inconclusive, but consistently line up with the list below.
- The person contacted is suffering in some capacity.
- Situations suffered by SCP-XXXX-1 may be related to physical, monetary, or psychological trauma, eg, a car crash, an eviction from a home, or the end of a relationship, but SCP-XXXX will never appear during the event.
- The target will ask a question aloud, typically pertaining to the situation at hand.
Under the conditions indicated above, SCP-XXXX appears before SCP-XXXX-1, and introduces themselves. SCP-XXXX has previously introduced themselves as Bacchus, Dmitri, Dionysus, Aegir, and various other names related to deities associated with alcohol. SCP-XXXX will attempt to commiserate with the subject, usually replying with a suggested answer to the question posed. While conversing with SCP-XXXX-1, the entity will offer the subject an alcoholic beverage, usually the one of choice of the subject.
Upon consumption of the beverage, SCP-XXXX takes hold of the subject, and shows the target an array of possible futures, though the exact method is unclear. Acting as a guide, the entity walks the subject through the steps required to reach its goals, whatever they may be. Subjects report an instillation of profoundness and intelligence in the words of the entity, though typically exact phrasing or talking points are forgotten in a process similar to that of forgetting dreams.
From then on, after the entity excuses itself, SCP-XXXX-1 will always and inevitably experience either the worst possible outcome described or the best possible outcome described. This is not a random process, however. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 describe the best possible outcomes taking insurmountable effort to achieve, and upon the initial choice to pursue either option, SCP-XXXX-1 becomes locked to one temporal path.
SCP-XXXX was discovered by a Foundation webcrawler, listed on a site concerning conspiracies, along with other less accurate theories. Listed specifically was the set of SCP-XXXX-1 describing encounters with SCP-XXXX, and choosing the negative path, listing various victims of tragedy, the impoverished, and the like interviewed as evidence.
